Sucker Lake Cottage is a large, bright, clean and well-cared-for family cottage. It has been in our family since we laid the foundation over 30 years ago and we're happy to potentially share it with you. This Viceroy style cottage sits on a quiet and private wooded lot on Sucker Lake down a treed driveway away from the main road. A large private deck wraps around the lake side of the cottage and overlooks the trees with a little bit of a lake view peeking through. In early 2021, this deck was entirely rebuilt using durable composite decking and black metal railings that help you see more of the view. Accessed from the living room as well as one of the bedrooms, this enormous deck is great for soaking up the sun or bird-watching. In the summer months, the outdoor BBQ and patio set help share meals in the great outdoors. Watch your step; there are plenty of friendly little chipmunks and squirrels that often run across the deck. From the back of the cottage, a rocky and wooden path leads down a natural slope to a rocky waterfront, where the shore is made up of pebbles and sand. Explore the calm waters of Sucker Lake on paddleboat or canoe, or enjoy the lovely lake view and loon calls from shore. A 40-foot dock extends onto the lake from the shore, offering a great spot to lounge, sun bathe, and jump into the lake from. Sucker Lake Cottage has a modern and bright interior with giant windows, cathedral ceilings, four bedrooms, and two bathrooms. The cottage features dark, rich and durable laminate flooring, knotty cedar cathedral ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows that let you enjoy the outdoors whether you're inside or out. Flanked by windows, the heart of the cottage is undoubtedly its large living room area, plenty of seating around the TV and a group of sofas around the huge stone-clad wood-burning fireplace so there's room for everyone to sit and unwind. There is a DVD player, TV and radio, a small selection of books and a couple of board games for you to use.
The fully equipped kitchen features beautiful stone tiles and oak cabinets and includes anything you may need such as cutlery, dishes, pots, baking pans, cookbooks, and full-size appliances such as a fridge/freezer, stove/oven, built-in dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster oven, and microwave.
On the other side of the center kitchen counter is a bright and sunny dining room with an extra-long table; the perfect place for large family-style meals, board games, or enjoying your morning tea or coffee while admiring the hummingbirds flying by the feeders hung outside.
The bathroom on the main floor was fully renovated and updated in 2020 and is complete with cedar ceiling, vanity, toilet, sink, and a gorgeous glass-encased shower. There is also a laundry room with a washer, dryer, wash basin and chest freezer.
At the end of the day, you'll sleep well in any of the cozy four bedrooms. Each bedroom has a bedside table and plenty of storage space. Two of the downstairs bedrooms have a knotty cedar feature wall, high sloped ceilings, and a queen size bed, and one of those has a sliding glass door leading onto the deck. The third downstairs bedroom has 2 beds (a single and a double). Upstairs, the primary fourth bedroom looks over the living room on the main floor, and features a queen size bed, a double futon, a cathedral ceiling, and an attached bathroom with toilet, sink vanity and a shower/tub combo.
10 min. from the cottage, the charming Village of Rosseau offers amenities like the LCBO, cafes, restaurants, shops, groceries, marina, summer farmer's market, etc. Sucker Lake Cottage is also a short drive to Ontario's best golf courses (12 are less than 30 min. away).

| We were a group of 7 that included 3 kids and 3 dogs. We had a great week at Sucker Lake Cottage. There was plenty of space for all of us and the cottage was very clean when we arrived. The process of booking and arranging with the owners was very seamless.
The cottage is exactly as described by the owners. The wrap around deck is great for eating, relaxing and getting sun. The dock and water are perfect for swimming. Sucker Lake is clean and relatively calm, which is great if little ones will be swimming in the water. We also enjoyed the village of Rosseau as it's a close distance to the cottage. Overall, this a great cottage for family fun and relaxing.

It was a delite to meet owners who where very friendly. The description of the cottage and the site was very accurate from the website and left us with no surprises during the stay. The owners were easily contacted when any questions raised. A relaxing time was had by all of our parties. Recommend...thumbs up. Doug

| We had a wonderful time at Sucker Lake! Beautiful lake and views, and a great cottage that is exactly as described on the website. Beautiful sunsets! The renters were very easy to communicate with, and provided lots of information about the cottage throughout the rental process, answering all of our questions. The Q&A and information on the website is very helpful and accurate.

| Sucker Lake Cottage was exactly as described on the website but even more beautiful. The owners respond quickly and had the cottage clean and gleaming when we arrived. I loved the natural landscape and they care they took in keeping it natural and eco-friendly. If you are looking to rent a large family cottage that is in a quiet area, surrounded by forest, with a private dock to swim off and canoes to paddle, then this is the place for you! The description is also accurate in that the gravel driveway is very steep and is not suitable for many cars; it can be a slippery, steep walk for people as well! The forested rocky steps down to water could also be quite a trek for some, but my group didn't have any trouble. The water is perfect for swimming or paddling, the deck is peaceful, and the large table can fit a huge family for dinner. My group consisted of 6 adults, 5 kids, and 3 dogs and we had lots of space and privacy in the four large bedrooms. I would highly recommend this cottage for anyone looking for a Muskoka getaway (provided your group can navigate the steep walks and handle the mosquitoes can come along with the Muskoka package!).

Owner response: Thank you for the thorough review, Carrie. It means a lot to us that our renters share their experience with others who may be considering our cottage and your note is a wonderful summary. We're glad you knew what to expect, but are even happier to hear you thought the cottage was even more beautiful in person. (Perhaps we need better photos? Haha!) Our family liked hearing that you had an amazing time at the cottage and on the water and would welcome your group back any time! | |
