| My wife and I rented the Waverley House as a nice getaway for ourselves as an anniversary gift to each other. The place was spacious, clean, and included gorgeous scenery. The beds were very comfortable, the rooms were very nicely decorated and my wife absolutely fell in love with the kitchen. She had everything you would need in the kitchen to prepare almost any type of meal, access to timeless movies and games as well as a cliff beside the lake which we enjoyed jumping off of. The area itself was very quiet, the neighbours were very respectful and kept to themselves.
We saw a lot of wildlife during our stay and took full advantage of the paddle boat and kayak. Karen was easy to get in touch with during our stay if we needed anything or had any questions. We would love to come back again!

| We had a great stay at Karen's cottage. The cottage was very large and had more than enough space for group of 10. The open rock area to the east of the cottage provided plenty of room to jump into the water. The cottage was extremely clean upon arrival. Although we didn't get great weather, a large sunroom and covered deck meant that we didn't feel contained within the cottage. Would highly recommend. Thanks Karen!

| We are a group of responsible young adults who always clean up beyond the norm after each rental and always get compliment from the landlord from all our previous trips. Not in this case. We get an email from the landlord shortly after the trip.
?On first glance we found the place tidy, locked up and most things were in place but it was not entirely clean. We expect to disinfect, wash placements, tea and dish towels, bathmats and hand towels after each rental which takes one person about 3 hours. Yesterday our cleaner took 7.5 hours.
?.. spots and smudges on the dinning tables, black fridge had not been wiped out, the toast oven was spotted, all mats had not been shaken out, dusting was not completed?.crumbs and bits of food on the kitchen floor when the mats had been removed and spots on the floors in the dinning room and kitchen and down the halls?.?
We were shocked because the landlord expect us to be professional cleaners and make the place spotless. There is a difference between the cleaning from the tenants and the cleaning from the landlord. Tenants are supposed to clean the place and tidy the place up reasonably clean. Landlord are supposed to get the place ready for the next tenant. It is of different standard. You really cannot expect a tenant to make the place spotless.
Unless you are professional cleaners and will be willing to put in 7.5 hours to clean before you leave the place. It is not recommended.

Owner response: We allow up to 12 people to stay at Waverley House at a time. We give the lead renter the option of waiving our cleaning fee and doing the cleaning themselves using our well stocked cleaning supplys and implements. You are not required to launder place mats and a few other kitchen & bath towels. Renters are expected to leave the place the way they found it. It is the exceptional renter who does not. If there are 12 adults it takes them approximately 35 minutes each to get the place back in ship shape, ready for our team to disinfect and put on the finishing touches. If this is not what you expect then you can pay the end cleaning fee up front or seek alternative accommodation where an owner factors the cleaning into their rental fee. | |
