Stunning views, a sandy bottom swimming area and a well appointed cottage are all waiting for you at this Kamaniskeg Lake property. The lake is part of a 90 km waterway which offers you many canoeing, boating and fishing opportunities. When you are not on or in the water enjoy the large deck, the picnic table, the patio area down by the water's edge or relaxing on the dock.Relax in the evening by the outdoor fireplace down by the water. If you want to explore the area, there are walking, biking and ATV trails nearby. Whitewater rafting is close by and Algonquin Park is a short 45 minutes away. If you like to golf there are two golf courses in the area. The Barry's Bay area has many little interesting shops and stores with your cottage supplies at your fingertips. This cottage is just over two hours from Ottawa and 3.5 hours from the center of Toronto.

Tobenella is set well back from the main road for added privacy. The property is well treed at the back and sides and is very open to the lake at the front. The "view" is one of the best things noted by guests who have stayed here.

There is a large living/dining area and a separate sunporch all overlooking the lake.Everyone remarks on the beautiful view. You can sleep in one of the three bedrooms or on the pullout futon on the sunporch to catch the warm summer breezes and fall asleep listening to the water waves. We provide the pillows and clean comforters and we ask you to bring sheets, pillowcases and towels. There is a newer set of bunk beds added with a double on the bottom and a twin on the top bunk. Two bedrooms have new ceiling fans.

Tobenella was a very pleasant surprise! Nestled right beside the river with a stunning view that greeted us every morning. It was a wonderful place to relax and snuggle in with a good book or to enjoy an adventure on the water with their canoe.....which we did a few times over. Even though we were a full house at times we never felt cramp. Lots of room for everyone. The kitchen was well appointed and close enough to enjoy the whatever was going on in the living room. Having the two fridges was a bonus for us as well. We also enjoyed Whitewater Rafting which was just a 10 min drive down the road. A definite highlight for us. Jo-Anne was a wonderful host and answered all of my questions promptly. The place was amazing!

We barely lasted 24 hours at this cottage. The cottage was dirty from the windows always being open, bugs and the varnish on the dining table was sticky from the heat. Also the toilet was broken with 7 people in the cottage. The property isn't suitable for small kids which we should have been told before booking. We lost money on this rental since we left in just 24 hours and we didn't get our full weeks money back. The flat part of the property down my the lake isn't as big as the pictures show and it turns swampy when it rains with the water running down the hill. There is also a weird situation with the neighbour and the driveway. All in all, the worse experience we have ever had as a family and don't let the pictures or the other reviews fool you. Obviously the real reviews don't get posted.

Owner response:
It is too bad the cottage did not suit Jason . There were several email conversations with Jason before booking. He told me that they had bad cottages in the past and wanted to ask questions before booking. The layout of the property was discussed and he was directed to our pictures. They were welcome to visit the property before coming but they did not request to do this.
When Jason and his family arrived they went down to the water area with us. Nothing was said at the time that they were unhappy. We found out the next morning when they requested a full refund. We believe we were generous to give them back a partial refund. Having someone leave after one night is new for us.
The cottage is cleaned for 3hrs plus . Yes, the fully screened windows were open to dry the washed floors.. The place had been thoroughly cleaned before their arrival.
If we had been informed that there was a problem with the toilet, we would have responded by fixing it right away. But we were not told until we met them as they were leaving. It turns out it was a minor issue (chain off). We were not given a chance to address this issue. Instead they left and then complained .
Yes the grass by the water was wet as it had just rained .
All reviews are published by cottages in Canada. We have five families returning to our cottage this summer for second or third visits. I think returning families are the best review of a cottage.

Tobenella provided us with the peaceful getaway we were hoping for. The setting is gorgeous with a beautiful view from the cottage. The cottage itself was very comfortable with everything you would need for a relaxing vacation. We appreciated the fireplace, and the satellite TV was a pleasant thing to have. The lake was quieter than other properties we have rented, and that was a big plus. It was fun to use the paddle boat and canoe. Also it is a short drive to shopping and tourist attractions. We would highly recommend this cottage.

My review is a bit late but a couple friends and I stayed at Tobenella for my birthday weekend. It was the perfect time of year. The trees still had lots of colour. The view down the lake was unbelievably beautiful, and unexpected. There was a ton of outside room to enjoy the last of the warm weather. Inside the cottage, the wood stove kept us really warm and there was a ton of room for all our things. The kitchen had everything we needed for making meals. The boys were able to watch their hockey game Saturday night. The kitchen and living room are all open concept which is nice so you can be in the kitchen and talk to everyone. The bathroom was a good size, not small at all. All bedrooms were a good size too with comfy beds and closet space. Jo-Ann and Brad are the perfect hosts. They make sure you have everything you need and are welcome to questions. We had a great stay and would highly recommend Tobenella. Thanks again!
