This cottage's location is wonderful with its gentle entry into the lake - sandy and no weeds! Great for kids. You are literally perched on the water with no steep stairs to contend with to reach the lake. Canoes provided for scenic tours of the lake. Parking is right at the cottage steps which makes it easy to lug your bags and groceries into the cottage. The cottage layout has a great flow with lots of indoor space to lounge and nice sized bedrooms. It is a true rustic cottage with the basic essentials in terms of dishes, cutlery etc. I would suggest bringing a few decent knives, glass wine glasses (if you don't want to drink out of plastic), a few mixing bowls, ice cube trays, hand soap for washroom, dishwasher pucks, hangers for the closet as there are no dressers to unpack clothes (if you are okay to live out of your travel bag then you will be fine). I'd confirm with the owner specifically what is supplied overall so there aren't unforeseen trips into town. Due to Covid you do need to bring your own bedding as well as kitchen and bathroom linens and this includes pillows. We only brought pillow cases and weren't prepared for no actual pillows on the beds.

Overall we had a lovely week.

Fantastic cottage! Very clean and well maintained (which we are fussy about). Very spacious including the kitchen, which was fully equipped and lacked for nothing. A real bonus was a very large mud room just off the kitchen with a separate entry-terrific for keeping extra groceries, coolers, gear, shoes, life jackets (we even had our kayaks in there to do some work on them when it rained!). More importantly, the cottage is situated beautifully, as stated, right on the water! Very private, well treed lot and the beach was amazing! Totally weed free, clean, hard packed sand as far out as you can walk until the water is over your head. You can spend weeks kayaking Kennisis Lake and not run out of exploring. The cottage also had two canoes for our use which was awesome! The deck was excellent and wrapped around to the side of the cottage, enabling you to pull your car right up to it for unpacking. The only drawback for us was, the cottage faces south and sits in a cove so the sun was gone by about 6:00pm. Other than that, we were extremely satisfied with our choice and Carmel, the owner was very pleasant, down to earth, kind and helpful. An animal lover's bonus: the cottage comes with "pet" ducks that eat right out of your hand and hang out on the dock with you! An excellent two week stay with no regrets.
