Muskoka at its best: Secluded, 2,000-sq.-ft. family cottage nestled among the trees, offering a spectacular, 270 degree view of the lake. Situated at one tip of Miller Island, in Gravenhurst Township, the Point Cottage features three bedrooms and two pull-out couches for a sleeping capacity of up to 8 people, two bathrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen with washer and dryer. It is the central great room, with its magnificent granite stone fireplace and 20 foot high cathedral ceiling that captures the essence of classic cottage life. No less appealing is the large, screened Muskoka porch that overlooks the lake on three sides, with its high peaked roof, comfy couches, and small dining area for intimate suppers or family game nights. Outside, you can explore a full acre of gently sloping land and more, for adventurers who would like to hike through the centre of this mile-long island. Walk across the short private granite causeway to Blueberry and Bluejack Islands and do your own berry picking. Enjoy vegetables and herbs grown in the 60' walled garden. Dive off the double dock and swim around the quiet bay, or simply sit and soak up the sun. A canoe and 165 hp inboard boat are included in the rental and available for tubing, further exploration, and fishing. Swim in the clear water, read a book on the dock, have a lakeside BBQ, or just enjoy the tranquility that Shoestring Point has to offer. | We (a family of 4 adults) just returned from a weeks vacation at this awesome Island Cottage. This place has absolutely everything you need to enjoy a week away. Very user friendly. Having a boat is very handy and that it is covered (for rainy days to get the the marina for your vehicle) Cottage is perfectly situated to enjoy excellent views of the water all around you. Kitchen - well equipped Bedroom- spacious and comfy Bathroom - No complaints (unless my boy and husband used them) living space - Plenty of space Lots of games, puzzles and tons of books. Cottage itself has lots of trees around it so it actually made it nice and cool for some of our very hot days! Deck. Perfectly situated again. If you love the sun - plenty of space for you. If you love the shade - plenty of space for you as well no matter your preference - everyone can enjoy Dock Time all together Boat - older boat but plenty of live still left in it and FAST! We brought our own boat and there was plenty of room for it. ($14/day to store your trailer at the marina) (Free in Gravenhurst) The sister were awesome and helpful Honestly No negative experiences at all Would absolutely like to rent there again :)

| I have rented cottages in Ontario - in Muskoka, The Kawarthas & Haliburton - over 30 years. I can honestly say that the cottage on Shoestring Point is my favourite. Because of its position at the tip of an island, you feel as if you're alone in the pristine wildnerness, under a very beautiful canopy of trees, with a 270-degree view of the lake. It's as peaceful as peaceful can be. Unlike a lot of cottages, you can walk through very well-kept grounds - appreciated not only by the two-footed but also the four-footed: dogs can run free and explore at will. Since I am a swimmer, the state of the lake is of utmost importance. It is pristine. You can dive off the dock and swim around the tip of the island to a private bay - perfect for any kids in the group. The cottage itself is perfection: homey, well-appointed, so comfortable, with the charm of a well-loved family place you really can't fake. A big group will appreciate having two large living spaces: a dining-living room, complete with a fantastic fireplace and a lovely high ceiling; and a screened-in porch (with that incredible view of the lake on all sides). The kitchen is fully equipped and a delight to be in, as it had large windows that make you feel as if you're in a woodland glade. I can't say enough about the cottage: it's really everything you hope a cottage will be.
