Truly Canadian! Our beautiful craftsman-built family cottage is situated on an acreage at Toote Lake - a short seventy-five minute escape from downtown Ottawa. Nestled in a lakeside forest with few surrounding neighbours, the cottage is extremely private & quiet. Home to a loon couple whose eggs hatch each summer, hence our name!

Flat waterfront lot means no steep descent down to the water (safer for children & older folks). Gradual entry with sandy bottom is especially conducive for young children, who will delight in all the tadpoles, bullfrogs & dragonflies! An anchored Wahoo! board (think massive rectangular paddleboard) set about twenty feet from shore is perfect for sunbathing, diving & playful wrestling.

Toote Lake is warm & clean, boasting northern pike, sunfish & bass. Loads of wildlife to take in for nature lovers. Our lot faces west for a panoramic sunset view. No neighbours directly across makes for increased privacy and large expanses of undisturbed wilderness. Take the canoe out for a tour to witness for yourself! We have one kayak that is also available for use.

The cottage is open-concept with one bedroom and a mezzanine loft overlooking the stone chimney. Beautiful wood stove for chilly nights. Lots of different bed options can accommodate up to eight guests (each with their own bed!). Please enquire with us about larger groups as the cottage is able to hold more - an extra fee per person will apply. Full kitchen for those who love to cook. Four-burner propane stove and oven heats up food quick! Cooler & bottled water provided. Lots of coffees & teas.

NOTES

Weekly rates are Fridays to Fridays.

We recommend picking up some fresh ice for the cooler and some charcoal / propane if you intend to use the barbecue quite a bit.

Cell phone service available from certain spots, might take a little walking around depending on provider.

The only off-grid maintenance required on your part is refilling the water tank. Rather than harvesting from our beautiful lake, our running water is clean water from a sandpoint well. We have a small tank to ensure the water does not stagnate and so we don't have to use harmful bleaches and disinfectants. We provide detailed instructions to ensure that refilling the tank is as simple as possible!

All the following accessories are provided to ease your packing list: UBS rechargeable lanterns, candles, batteries, kitchen linens, extra bedding, pillows, headlamps, towels, dishes, kitchen essentials, all natural cleaning products, soaps, shampoo & conditioner, camping chairs, four adult lifejackets, water shoes, cards, board games.

Please message us to check whether we have something that would fall within your essentials list. Chances are we do!
