We love hosting families and it's what we do best! We are perfectly set up to host your three generations under one very comfortable roof.

An hour from downtown Ottawa, The Lakehouse Hideaway is a luxury four-season vacation resort for the whole family. Situated on 17.5 acres on the shores of Neil Lake (small, quiet and private), you will find everything you could wish for whether you want to just escape the city rat-race and relax, reconnect with nature, spend an active week with family, or explore a new area of our great land.

Wake up to the sound of song birds, have your breakfast on the deck watching the mist drift over the lake, hike the trails, kayak around the lake, canoe out and jump off the swim platform, relax in the hot tub, watch the kids splash around in the above-ground pool, throw something delicious on the BBQ, and come together around the fire at night while you hear the owls calling to each other. On rainy days, grab some cards, a board game, some puzzles or curl up with a good book or a movie. Send the kids to the bunkie for a sleep out! What an adventure they'll have!

Onsite activities will keep you busy year round. In the summer months, enjoy swimming from our swim dock, kayaking (we have three single-person kayaks), canoeing (seats two to three), pedal-boating (seats two adults plus one or two small children), hiking or bike riding on our trails (bring your own bikes). Our newest addition is an 18'x4' above-ground pool perfect for the kiddos (of all ages!) to take a dip and cool off. Anyone in the family will enjoy spending some time in the Bunkie (there is a sleep loft for napping or reading), and also makes a great hang-out for the teenagers! During the Fall, take a hike and witness the breathtaking beauty of the changing colours. In the winter months, pull out your snowshoes and cross-country skis and explore the more than 2 km of trails on the property, take a run down one of the tobogganing hills, or play some shinny hockey on the rink once the lake has frozen over. Year round luxury is right on your doorstep with our hot tub.

We do not take any bookings between May 1st and June 20th in order to do required maintenance, repairs and improvements. Also, the bugs are awful that time of year; the plague of mosquitoes and black-flies would not make for a pleasant vacation experience.

Want to feel like you are at a private resort, then this is the place to rent. I am an experienced renter that has seldom seen this level of ?superior hosting?! The privacy, the entertainment offered both inside and outside will make your stay a blast!! Valerie has impeccable taste and they have optimized the space that they offer... kids downstairs, adults upstairs! Tip: Read the emails Valerie will send you at booking, Valerie puts in a lot of effort to help you plan your trip and she has a detailed book on site to guide you through your stay! Book and Enjoy you wont be disappointed!

Thank you Debbie for your kind and thoughtful comments. We very much enjoyed being able to host your family over New Year's. You were fantastic guests and we'd love to have you back again.

My husband and I with our two dogs absolutely enjoyed our stay at the Lakehouse Hideaway. Jeff and Valerie have thought of everything from anything you may need in the kitchen, to games, movies, puzzles and books. The cottage is immaculate and perfectly organized. The property is beautiful with private trails that gave our dogs the opportunity to spend the week off leash - freedom! The peace and serenity at the Creek was a nice surprise. This place is a hidden gem. Thank you for the wonderful stay.

Thank you for your very positive review, Susan. It was an absolute pleasure to host your family and your adorable pups. We look forward to hosting you again in the future.

For a week in August 2019, I spent a week at the cottage owned by Jeff and Valerie Stiles. There were ten of us from the age of 2 ½ to 70. There was enough room for all of us. The cottage was extremely well equipped. You could actually walk in with just your luggage and food. Everything else is available. There were games to play, movies to watch and books to read. The kitchen had everything you would need. We even baked banana muffins. We cooked all our meals at the cottage using the BBQ most nights. There are 2 modern bathrooms.

The kids went fishing, canoeing, swimming in the lake and the above ground pool in addition to playing games. There were plenty of life jackets to use. My favorite activity was the pedal boat. I went out for an hour every day. Quite often, I was joined by one of my grandchildren. That was special. We also went for walks and cooked marshmallows over a fire at night.

The cottage is easy to get to. It takes about 1 ½ hours from around Ikea in Ottawa. We crossed at Island Park.

Jeff and Valerie were available for questions before our vacation and while we were at the cottage.

I would highly recommend this cottage. I would rent it again. My daughter is thinking of going in the winter.

One thing I would do the next time is take the linen package. We had to take a lot of sheets, blankets and pillows. That takes up a lot of car space.

Thank you Joan for your wonderful review and thoughtful comments. It was a pleasure to host you and your extended family for your vacation. We are so glad you all enjoyed yourselves so thoroughly and look forward to the opportunity to host you (or your daughter) again in the future.

One thing you'll be ever-so-happy to note, is we've now included linens with ALL rentals - a much easier arrangement for our guests to get into their vacation from the minute they arrive at the Lakehouse (no beds to make).

My family had a wonderful time at the Lakehouse and we created beautiful memories. Lots to do on the property for kids and adults. Appreciated all the extra touches. Owners were quick to respond to questions.

A beautiful lakeside property for families and friends to get outside and enjoy all that nature has to offer! Had a fabulous time walking the trails, hanging out in the hot tub and kayaking on the lake. House was fully equipped with everything we needed! Can't wait to be back soon!
