We love hosting families and it's what we do best! Our calendar is now open for Fall 2022 through to Holidays 2022, so don't wait - inquiry now about the dates in which you are interested. When requesting information about dates, rates etc., please provide as much information as possible about your group and what you wish to do while at the Lakehouse Hideaway. We do not operate on a "first-come, first-served" basis, but rather give first priority to families who have stayed with us previously and then to new families who give detailed information about themselves and what they are hoping to do while at the Lakehouse Hideaway. We don't host unrelated groups of people, events or parties. An hour from downtown Ottawa, The Lakehouse Hideaway offers rustic luxury in a four-season setting for the whole family. Situated on 17.5 acres on the shores of Neil Lake (small, quiet and private), you will find everything you could wish for whether you want to just escape the city rat-race and relax, reconnect with nature, spend an active week with family, or explore a new area of our great land. Please note that there is NO swimming at our waterfront. It is very mucky. In the summer, we do have an above-ground swimming pool (4' x 18") and a swim raft to swim from which is a short paddle off from our dock. We have a good-sized dock which is perfect for sun-tanning, lounging, watching the sunset or dangling your toes. You can even fish from it (you will need to obtain a fishing license). We also have a creek which is a delight to explore! Wake up to the sound of song birds, have your breakfast on the deck watching the mist drift over the lake, hike the trails, kayak around the lake, canoe out and jump off the swim platform, relax in the hot tub, watch the kids splash around in the above-ground pool, throw something delicious on the BBQ, and come together around the fire at night while you hear the owls calling to each other. On rainy days, grab some cards, a board game, some puzzles or curl up with a good book or a movie. Send the kids to the Shenanigan Shack for a sleep out... What an adventure they'll have!
Onsite activities will keep you busy year round. In the summer months, enjoy swimming from our swim dock, kayaking (we have four single-person kayaks), canoeing (seats two to three), pedal-boating (seats two adults plus one or two small children), hiking or bike riding on our trails (bring your own bikes). Our newest addition is an 18'x4' above-ground pool perfect for the kiddos (of all ages!) to take a dip and cool off. Anyone in the family will enjoy spending some time in the Shenanigan Shack (there is a sleep loft for napping or reading), and also makes a great hang-out for the teenagers! During the Fall, take a hike and witness the breathtaking beauty of the changing colours. In the winter months, pull out our snowshoes or bring your own cross-country skis and explore the more than 2 km of trails on the property, take a run down one of the tobogganing hills, or play some shinny hockey on the rink once the lake has frozen over. Year round luxury is right on your doorstep with our hot tub.
The Lakehouse Hideaway is 20 minutes to Mont Ste. Marie and its golf course and ski hill. Horse-back riding, dog-sledding, a variety of restaurants, artisans's workshops and many other activities and points of interest are close at hand.
With four bedrooms and two full bathrooms, The Lakehouse Hideaway can sleep up to 10 people: Master Bedroom: Queen-Sized Bed; Guest Bedroom: Queen-Sized Bed; Lower Guestroom: Queen Bed; Lower Bunk Room: Two Twin Bunk Beds. One full bathroom on the upper level, and another on the lower level. We are perfectly set up for multi-generations to have a wonderful family holiday that they will cherish for years.

NOTES COVID-RELATED INFORMATION: We follow the provincial guidelines with regards to the number of households and individuals may stay at any one time. We do enhanced cleaning and disinfecting on all surfaces. SEASONAL INFORMATION We do not take any bookings between May 1st and June 20th each year in order to do required maintenance, repairs and improvements. Also, the bugs are awful that time of year; the plague of mosquitoes and black-flies would not make for a pleasant vacation experience. REVIEWS | Lindsay
| This is our third time staying at the Lakehouse Hideaway which says a lot already. What do we love about it? The cottage itself is very comfortable with a great kitchen and lots of places to hang out. The owners are incredibly welcoming and accommodating and seem to have thought of everything that you might need. We have had 9 people at the cottage and we fit very nicely. We have only stayed during the summer months so have spent hours swimming and paddling in the lake (water is extremely clear), reading in the hammocks, roasting marshmallows in the fire pit, and relaxing in the hot tub admiring the stars. Rainy days go by quickly as there are lots of games to play, books to read, and movies to watch. The area is extremely quiet which we appreciate and not a place where you will hear jet skis on the lake all day long. It's a wonderful place to unwind!

Owner response: Thank you so very much, Lindsay. It is always a delight to host you and your family. We love hearing about your adventures and seeing your photos of happy kids doing ALL the summer things. We very much look forward to hosting you again in the future (maybe a winter trip next time?).

| My family enjoyed ALL of the great outdoor amenities! We really appreciated the many thoughtful details that the owners put into the cottage experience to make it feel comfortable and homey for their guests: the welcome treats, the great collection of games & puzzles, the well-stocked kitchen, the hooks and abundance of clothing storage, the lighting and decor, and the excellent, professional communication from booking to check out.

| This our third stay at the Lakehouse Hideaway and it never fails to disappoint. Valerie & Jeff are excellent hosts and think of every last detail. The Lakehouse is immaculate, well stocked and everything is labeled so there is no guessing. The property is beautiful, so many trails to explore, the tranquil lake, the fire pit, I could go on. There is so much to do or not to do at the Lakehouse.

| The week-long visit was amazing and we wished it could have been longer. We have stayed in a few cottages over the past few years and the Lakehouse Hideaway was easily the best. The cottage is very private and has everything a person could ask for. We had no end of fun swimming off the floating dock. We heard coyotes and maybe even a wolf or two howling in the evening. The trails behind the house were fascinating and our dog romped through the woods without a care. The hot tub was awesome with a view over the lake. I always seem to forget a thing or two when going to a cottage but the house was so well supplied that we didn't have any problems. The fire pit was great too for cooking hot dogs and marshmallows. The owners answered our questions immediately. All in all, a wonderful, memorable vacation.

| Life gets so busy & this was the perfect place to slow down. The Lakehouse Hideaway exceeded all our expectations --- the beautifully appointed bedrooms, incredibly well equipped kitchen, amazing views & gorgeous lake. So much to do during the day-- hiking, swimming, hot tubbing, kayaking, (& sleeping in one of the hammocks). At night we sat around the wonderful firepit, watched movies or played one of the board games provided. Can't say enough good things about this marvelous lakeside getaway.
