Modern luxury in a rustic setting with the ultimate in fast uninterrupted internet!

This one of a kind summer rental offers the ultimate Canadian holiday - stunning views, privacy, 500 ft of frontage on Lake Boshkung and western exposure.

Designed and built to accentuate the natural beauty around it, The Rock's very foundation is the Canadian Shield rising out of the pearly granite.

No schedules. No pressure. No noise.

Relax and enjoy a slower pace, fresh air and the magic way a campfire can open up conversations effortlessly.

This property is a spectacular place to enjoy the Canadian wilderness in absolute comfort and style.

This is a dual level property with the house sitting on top of the rock cut created when they split highway 35. You know, those rock cuts you drive through and look up at in awe.

The naturally occurring pink and black granite sparkles in the sunshine and offers many spots to enjoy the surrounding staying warm long after the sun's gone down.

There's a huge fire pit to the side of the house positioned in the tall pines native to this area with a view of the lake.
The bottom property is accessible by foot and is actually the original (albeit taken over by nature) highway that ran along the lake.

The lake is clear with shallow entry and offers hours of entertainment on hot summer days.
This historic part of Algonquin Highlands also boasts one of the oldest and most majestic Pines in the area, well known to the locals and enthusiasts alike.

This cottage is amazing! I rented the cottage for a getaway with extended family members, and we all thoroughly loved our week and did not want to leave. The house is perfect, and we could not have asked for more: four bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, an expansive living room + dining, an additional large family room in the "basement" (a lot of natural light and great views even from this lower room), everything you need in the kitchen, plus two decks and the view!

Chrissy and Steve were wonderful hosts. They were friendly, welcoming, super prompt if we had questions, and were proactive in providing us with tips. We had two dogs with us, and Chrissy reached out to let us know they had cut a brand new trail that that we could use to take the dogs out for extended walks on the property.

It was our first time renting in the Algonquin Highlands area, and we liked that the location provided a great balance in feeling quite secluded (despite being just off Highway 35 - noise was not an issue at all, and the location felt very private) and easy access to conveniences like groceries and Kawartha ice-cream.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to friends and look forward to making a returning visit myself.

PS - the fire pit in the backyard is perfect for roasting marshmallows and doing some stargazing.

Oh my, we are so happy you enjoyed your stay.
We wish nothing but the best stay ever for our guests and it means so much that you maxed out your stay at The Rock!

Look forward to seeing you here again Louisa :)

The Rock is a lovely, expansive, modern space with a fabulous outlook over the lake. We were two families and felt we had loads of space and all the necessary amenities. The only downside is that there's no beach or sitting area by the lake, but otherwise it's great.

Thanks Rachel for your review.
The dock is great for sunbathing and watching the lake life.
We let all of our guests know ahead of time to bring their own water shoes, water toys and chairs for the cleared area at the dock.
Under the big pine you get the best of both worlds - sun at the dock and shade on shore!

The Rock is a fantastic rental, a well-designed modern building in a stunning location. Rare find. It met the needs of two families with 4 teenagers. The master bedroom and bathroom are breathtaking. The other bedrooms, bathroom and powder room are very nice. Excellent lounge on the lower level. The kitchen is well laid out and has 2 full size fridges plus a pantry, which was a great surprise because it meant we didn't have to go to the grocery store too often, oh? and there is a wine fridge to cool your drinks. There is a great fire pit for relaxing in the evening and making smores, bought fire wood nearby. Late evening movies can be watched on two smart TV's, in the living room and on the lower level. We rented canoes and kayaks from a resort 3 min away and had a great day paddling from one lake to the next. Plenty of trails in the area, we hiked almost every day with a variety of hikes available, few easy, and some moderate and challenging, within a 15min drive at most. A small convenience store is 7 min away in Carnarvon, fully stocked Foodland in Minden 15km away. We visited two local restaurants that operate during Covid and had nice meals (Rhubarb and Mill Pond). The owners live next door and are very kind and responsive. I hope we get to visit again, perhaps to see fall colours.

Thank you so much Dagmara!
I think you covered the essence of the area even better than we could.
So glad you had a great time we would love to have you back any time <3

I spent one week with my children and grandson at The Rock! This cottage has everything needed for the perfect vacation.

This amazingly beautiful backdrop, with incredible views and surrounding nature engulfs you upon arrival. The location and property are very private and gorgeous but at times, a little noisy with the closer proximity to the highway (but that comes with great and quick access!)
The striking, modern and well-appointed cottage is so well designed and decorated that it invites you to settle in, feel at home and start unwinding quickly. Between the wide open concept upper level, bedroom level, basement, and two spacious decks, there's tons of space which made it very enjoyable for our family, dog and toddler. The first-class kitchen has everything you need, including pantry, two fridges and wine cooler!!!

Chrissy and Steve were terrific hosts, very responsive and helped us with everything we needed - first rate all the way!

Highly recommended!

Owner response:
Thank you Vera.
It means so much to us to see people take full advantage of all this property has to offer and leave feeling relaxed and content.
Would love to have you and your family back any time :)

My only concern about writing a review for this "cottage" is that it will be all booked up the next time I want to go, which will be soon - it was AMAZING! Definitely not for those looking for a rustic experience, it is the opposite end of the spectrum. Simple, clean, luxury with an incredible view and charming lakeside dock from which to swim, paddle and fish.

Chrissy and Steve are the consummate hosts having thought of everything (including Netflix!) with abundant wifi if you require it. Otherwise, bring lots of good books, board games and beach towels and enjoy!
