150 acres of pristine forest with kilometers of hiking trails, lots of opportunities to see wildlife, and a rock garden featuring a dozen inuksuk, this is a nature lovers' paradise. The property features over 5000 ft of lakefront shoreline on three lakes!!!
The house is located on a peaceful and quiet private lake perfect for swimming and boating. There are several walking trails on the property that features the beautiful natural Muskoka landscape in a mature forest! Several springs on the property and plenty of ancient granite formations complement the landscape offering plenty of opportunities to explore and enjoy. Enjoying time in a forest should be included in all doctors' prescriptions!
Winter: imaging skating on a private 14 acres lake and then having a cup of hot cocoa in front of the fireplace. Wood crackling sounds, the view of the dancing flames, and the smell of burning wood will be more relaxing than anything else you've experienced. The trees along the driveway are covered in snow and the branches touch up above almost giving you the impression of walking in an ice castle. The X-mas tree is set up in mid-November. The house is heated by a fireplace and a wood stove only. Heating wood is provided. The driveway is plowed to the door but snow tires are highly recommended (as anywhere in cottage country!).
Spring: nothing beats the view of life emerging from the forest floor. Gentle spring flowers, the raw green of the leaves, and the trickling sound of the springs make hiking a very special experience. Watch the lake mist rising above the water in the morning and do a yoga session on the dock.
Summer: Enjoy the water sports on the private 14 acres lake, hike through the forest, breathe in the clean oxygen-rich forest air and smell the sweet red pine scent while sleeping in the hammock by the lake, do a morning forest yoga session and enjoy your coffee looking at the stunning lake and forest view from the deck.
Fall: crisp air and forest colours make the fall hike the best experience you will ever have, the view from the deck is Zen-like as the maple trees from the hill across the lake change color. At this time of year, there are no mosquitos and almost no bugs so you will want to stay outdoor all day. Go on a canoe ride across the lake and have your friends take a picture of you fading away in the lake fog rising up in the morning. Listen to the forest sounds, it will be a healing experience.
We offer a pedal boat, a canoe, two kayaks, a paddleboard, and a large floating raft as well as several other water toys for your enjoyment! There are 4 adult life jackets and 2 medium kid sizes.
We also offer a canoe by the shore of the second lake. You can use it to visit our little island.
The cottage features three large bedrooms, a large loft area, a very welcoming living room with lots of games for family fun, a fully equipped kitchen, a wood fireplace in the living area and a wood stove in the kitchen, a dining room, and a bathroom! The bathroom has a flush toilet, a bidet, a sink, and a bathtub. The deck offers a nice view of the lake and has a propane BBQ.
The cottage is self-sustaining with an off-grid solar system that provides electricity for lights, and the small appliances we provide the coffee machine, toaster, and a hand blender. We have satellite internet to provide basic web browsing services. We also have a TV (no cable) with a Blue-ray player, so you can bring and watch your favorite shows and movies. The TV is connected to the internet so you can use Netflix if you like. The washroom and the kitchen have running cold and hot water and you would not even feel like it's off-grid.
