We viewed this gorgeous cottage on a spectacular blue day in late May as the sun dappled through the leaves and sparkled on the water. It was idyllic, and we know this will become the go-to vacation home for numerous familiesonce they discover it.
The cottage is perfect for a small family with three bedrooms and a bathroom off a hallway from the living space, which is designed for comfort and ambience. A curved leather couch offers wonderful views of the water, or the TV, whichever grabs your attention first, while the dining table can host family meals followed by an evening of card games.A well-equipped kitchen rounds out this comfortable accommodation though we should point out, there is no dishwasher. A small sacrifice to pay for finding the quintessential lakeside getaway.
Whether you choose to spend your day on the dock, or in the hammock under the shade of the birch trees, or lounging on the swinging deck chair, the view of the lake is the focal point. The small sand beach and shallow walkout is perfect for the small people, while older ones will enjoy swimming from the dock into beautifully clear water.
A paddle out into the lake on the kayak, SUP or pedalboat may be all the activity you want, but if you want a little more exercise, there are trails on nearby crown land and walks along the shaded country road.
At the end of the day, enjoy a perfect sunset from the dock or deck and finish up around the campfire with a few s'mores and some good conversation.
The town of Bancroft is just 15 minutes away, and with a pretty riverside park and plenty of stores, a few hours out stocking up won't seem like a chore. Your digital guide fot the cottage lists restaurants, local craft breweries, and plenty of local activities in case you feel the need to leave this beautiful location.
