Black Lake is a small, quiet lake 15 kilometers north of Lachute in the community of Dunany which is in the municipality of Wentworth.

The cottage is a rustic 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom home.

The country kitchen has a patio door which opens onto the screened-in porch overlooking the lake. The living room has French doors which also overlook the lake and open onto the deck where there is a propane bbq. The screened in porch is a nice place to sit and read or to watch the hummingbirds which come to the feeder hanging close to it. Great view for all birds, loons, beavers, heron, and the occasional fox.

The main bedroom has a queen-sized bed, a large oval tub and pedestal sink inside the bedroom with a small separate toilet room. The windows in the bedroom overlook the forest and lawn and flower beds. This room also has a view of the lake when the bedroom door is open. A smaller bedroom with 2 single beds has patio doors which overlook the lake and forest.

There is also a main bathroom off the living room with a shower and bathtub, washer and dryer. The living room has a wood burning stove and firewood is included. There are also electric baseboard heaters.

Lachute, which is 15 kilometers away, has a hospital, dental clinics, CLSC, supermarkets; (Super C, IGA and Maxi) Walmart Super Centre, Canadian Tire, Patrick Morin hardware store, pharmacies, fitness centers, SAQ liquor store, public golf courses and driving ranges, hair salons and day spas. On main street there are a few cafes, restaurants, bistros, clothing boutiques, the public library and veterinary clinic.

We absolutely loved the cottage: it is clean, neat, with modern equipment (unlimited Wifi)! The lake is peaceful and beautiful. We spent a perfect family vacation there. We will definitely come back!

I never wanted to leave. Charming cottage with everything that one might need, and more. The large screened-in porch right off the deck was my favorite feature. Even through rain or darkness, one could sit in comfort either over a nice meal, or with a good book, in the fresh air of the outdoors. Waking up with the view of serene lake every morning was another plus.

If you love nature (there are nice walking trails nearby), and quiet, in a welcoming homey setting this is the place.

The Loon and Beaver is a charming and comfortable cottage. It's not a house- it is truly a cottage, (although it has many comforts of a house). We were welcomed by the housekeeper who was very friendly and helpful. The cottage will sleep 4 comfortably and is equipped with more than one would expect- canoe, life jackets, fireplace/stove, firewood, screened eating area, microwave, toaster, kettle, satellite TV, stereo and WIFI, washer/dryer, BBQ...

The property is well kept and the lake is smaller but beautiful and clean. There is lots of incredible wildlife, we saw an ermine, loon, frogs and all types of birds (humming, jay, chicadee, woodpecker...). The water is weedy around the shore and it gradually gets deeper. We caught fish right off the dock and explored the lake via canoe and caught one delicious 19" Large Mouth Bass. The lake and it's residents are QUIET. If you want action you won't find it here. We have 2 kids, 13 and 10 years old and they loved being in and around the water. They were not bored for a minute.

The town of Lachute is CLEAN and TIDY and has everything you need.

The owner was extremely informative and organized and has equipped the cottage with a binder containing contact #'s, general information and procedures. We always got prompt replies to our emails and questions.

We would recommend this cottage to small families or couples who really enjoy being around nature and have a respect for tranquility.

We have rented this cottage for about 4 weeks in the past three summers. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable. Unusual feature is that there are actually two bathrooms, one being part of the master bedroom with a large tub with the incredible privacy of looking out at acres of woodland as well as a small sink and toilet off the bedroom. The other bathroom is a regular bathroom off the smaller bedroom. The other lovely features are the two patios: one enclosed and the other open, which is convenient during bug season.

The cottage is very private. On one side there are acres of woodland and only one house on the other side which is also hidden by trees and completely private.

The lake is very quiet, as a rule. Perfect for swimming and canoeing and small enough to prohibit motor boats. The canoe can accommodate three people and is excellent for fishing. The gardens and lawn are well cared for and the grass cut when needed by a handyman and caretaker.

We have been very satisfied and would like to return and have recommended the cottage to friends.
