41 HAVENSIDE RD, LOUISBOURG, CAPE BRETON, NOVA SCOTIA

We want to share our little bit of paradise with you. Watch ships sailing into Louisbourg harbour greeted by Canada's oldest light station. Opposite the lighthouse is the Fortress of Louisbourg, with its cannons pointed across the harbour. You can hear the boom across the harbour every day at 4:45 as the cannons go off.

Once a week, on Thursday evenings in July and August is Murder Mystery Night at the Fortress. For information and tickets go to http://www.fortressoflouisbourg.ca/murdermystery.html
Enjoy Crabfest the 1st weekend in August. The last week of August celebrate the King's birthday with a spectacular fireworks display over the harbour.

For those who love diving adventures, there are plenty. Explore wrecks of French men-of-war from the siege of 1758 lying on the harbour bottom. Louisbourg Harbour is a protected area but you may dive with a guide.

There are many walking trails, including Simon's Point, a wonderful walk through the woods that takes you to a beautiful view of the Atlantic ocean.Or grab a fishing rod and fish for mackerel off the wharf.

This was my first ever visit to Nova Scotia and I had an incredible time! Havenside cottage felt like a "home-away-from-home." The cottage was cute, clean, comfy, cozy, and spacious. The view of the ocean looking out from the front window is breathtaking! Having your morning coffee or tea on the porch watching the sunrise is an absolute must. Just a short drive from the cottage is the Louisbourg Lighthouse trail, which I would definitely recommend as well as Kennington Cove beach. The Cabot Trail is also a definite must see too! I will definitely be returning to Havenside in the near future!!!! Loved it!!!!!!!
