Our cottage is located on a point into Sharpe's Bay. It is about a 15 minute drive from Apsley. The road is well maintained and just past the "four corners". We are at the end of the road; there is almost no traffic. The cottage faces the water on a well treed lot. The main part of the cottage has a great room with 5 sliding patio doors overlooking the lake on two sides. The main deck wraps the two sides of the cottage. The kitchen is a separate room with washer, dryer, fridge, stove, dishwasher, and microwave. There is no table in the kitchen, large table for dining in great room. There is an oversized bedroom with king bed and bunk bed (2 singles), also a door to the deck. Full four-piece bathroom is located on the central hallway. There are two more bedrooms; one with double bed, one with bunk (double on bottom and twin on top). The "cottage" extension is located at the end of the central hallway. There is a mini great room with a second kitchen (fridge, stove, sink, and cupboards), sleeper sofa (double), dining table, and TV. The bedroom has a queen bed plus a bunk bed (2 singles). The bunk bed area can be closed into a separate room using a sliding partition. There is a doorway into both. This section of the cottage has a four-piece bathroom. There are two sliding patio doors onto the back deck that overlooks the dock and swimming area. The dock/ deck provides a terrific location for sitting in the sunshine, access to the swimming area and ample area for docking your boat. There is a swim ladder on the dock. The water level varies as this is a feeder lake into the Trent Severn system. Usually the water is about 1' at the shoreline and 6' at the deep side of the dock. The water is clear and wonderful for swimming.
It is a very large lot that has been left in a natural state. Out at the end of the point is a fire pit. Fire permits can be obtained online from the Township of Kawartha. The lot is fairly level and sits about 30' above the water level providing excellent water views. The shoreline is quite steep, except for the walk down to the swimming area. The best parts of our cottage are the dock, decks, vinyl tile throughout the cottage, kitchen that has lots of counter space and is well equipped (incl dishwasher), privacy, and awesome views.
Blankets and pillows are provided. You need to bring sheets, pillow cases, towels, and dishcloths.
There is WiFi. There is a landline phone for emergencies.
There is a paddle-boat, 2 paddle boards, and an ancient canoe. Please bring life jackets.
The water from the well was tested in 2021 and found safe. It is not treated. If this concerns you, please bring drinking water.
This is a cottage. There will be bugs. There could be mice. Please keep screen doors closed and screens on the windows. If you see any evidence of rodents, please let me know.
DO NOT FEED rodents or raccoons. Squirrels are very "friendly" - please do not encourage them.
Lastly, this is a wonderful place to unwind and spend time together. Enjoy the lake, sunsets, bonfires, and each other.

This is a lake-front property. The depth of the water at the shoreline and at the end of the dock varies greatly. Please do not dive without first checking that it is safe. Also, you may want to have water shoes as there are some rocks. The bottom is generally sandy and the water safe for swimming. There are two marinas on the lake that boats can be rented from. Please bring life jackets, as most of mine have walked. There is excellent fishing, bring your equipment. + VIEW MORE - COLLAPSE LOCATIONLOCATIONProvince: Ontario | Region: Kawarthas | City: Apsley | | Distance from ski resort: | - |

| We had a wonderful time on Jack Lake. We had two families comfortably stay and loved the property and the cottage. The canoe and paddle boards were a hit with adults and kids. Amazing swimming off the dock, deep water and no water shoes needed as we never touched the bottom. The dock was big and had lovely sunsets. Loons and deer and blue heron on property which was awesome. We would have preferred to have been charged for cleaning then to have to spend out last day as professional cleaners, but that was really the only thing that wasn't ideal. Easy to find, great instructions from the host, and a beautiful place to spend a week!

Owner response: Thank you, Lindsay. I am delighted that you enjoyed your vacation at our cottage. I will definitely find a cleaner and start to provide this option next season for guests. I totally understand as I am usually the one that does this after our family stays. | |
