Description
The Willow Bank is a clean, comfortable, modern four bedroom Cape Cod style, two storey cottage located ten minutes south of Tobermory on the shores of a sheltered bay of Lake Huron. The Willow Bank is the perfect all-season accommodation for guests to call home while they rest, relax and explore the beautiful Bruce Peninsula.

The cottage is located in a quiet and private lakeside setting. No other cottages in the area are visible from the cottage assuring visitors a peaceful and relaxing setting.

The cottage is comfortably furnished, tastefully decorated and equipped with many modern amenities including a large elevated front deck, a gas BBQ, patio table and chairs, a shoreline fire pit, two kayaks and a paddleboat. Inside the cottage, there is a dishwasher, a 46 inch flat screen satellite HDTV and a complimentary wireless high-speed internet connection. The cottage is located a five minute drive from Singing Sands which is one of the finest sand beaches on the Bruce Peninsula.

The Willow Bank cottage is the ideal accommodation for families and groups with a maximum number of 7 people or less.

The Willow Bank cottage has four bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms and a spacious four-piece bathroom are located on the second floor of the cottage. The large master bedroom is furnished with a comfortable king-sized bed. The second bedroom is furnished with a comfortable queen-sized bed.

The recently remodelled bathroom is a large light filled room located on the second floor. A deep claw-foot bath tub is located there is the perfect spot to lay back and enjoy a long relaxing soak. The bathroom is also equipped with a separate glassed-door shower stall.

A clean, well-furnished one room guest cabin is located just a few steps away from the main cottage. It serves as the third bedroom and is comfortably furnished with a queen-sized bed and a couch that easily converts to a single bed. A composting toilet is located nearby.

The sofa in the entertainment room located on the lower level of the cottage easily converts into a double-bed and this room can serve as the fourth bedroom. This room features a large window with screens so it gets plenty of day light and ventilation. A blind on this window assures that it can be darkened for restful sleeps.

The kitchen is spotlessly clean and well equipped with good appliances including a dishwasher, microwave, excellent stainless steel pots and pans and a wide variety of cooking and baking utensils. The kitchen is located adjacent to the dining room and is just steps away from the front deck.

This cottage draws plenty of clean fresh water from a well. The water is government tested, charcoal filtered, softened and purified using a state of the art ultra-violet light water purification system. The cottage owner drinks this water. There is an extra large electric water heater that supplies the cottage with what seems to be an unlimited supply of hot water.

The living room and dining rooms are located at the front of the cottage and are bright spaces with a wall of windows looking out over the front deck and towards the waterfront. The dining room table can be easily expanded to allow 8 people to dine comfortably. The living room is furnished with a satellite TV, a comfortable rocking chair and a large leather sectional sofa.

The Willow Bank's large, south facing and elevated front deck is a show stopper and possibly it's best feature. It's accessed through a patio door off of the dining room. It's the perfect place to sit and watch the morning sunrise while enjoying breakfast and a morning coffee. It is also the place to rest and relax enjoying the last light of the day savouring a home cooked dinner or an evening night cap. This deck is equipped with comfortable lounge chairs, a glass patio table, six dining chairs and a gas BBQ for grilling and outdoor dining.

The Willow Bank also features an entertainment room on the lower level that is comfortably furnished and equipped with a 46 inch HDTV, a Blu Ray Disk player with surround sound and a wide selection of movies, many of which are the latest release. A wall mounted gas-fireplace located there adds a lovely ambience to this space.

A full sized washer and dryer are provided on the lower level.

The water in front of the cottage is clean and shallow and the sandy apron at the water's edge makes this a safe location for small children to wade and splash about under the watchful eyes of an adult.

Two ride-on-the-top BIC kayaks with paddles, a two-person paddleboat and adult size personal floatation devices are provided for visitors to use. Paddling the kayaks in the shelter of the bay or out to the main lake is a great way for visitors to spend some time while exploring the area around the cottage by water. A large floating swimming raft is anchored nearby in deeper water. This swimming raft can be the ideal location to catch some sun or to dive and swim in the crystal blue waters of Lake Huron.

At the end of the day, guests of the Willow Bank cottage can enjoy a blazing campfire in the shoreline located fire pit. Complimentary fire wood is provided, and what family doesn't enjoy the opportunity to make lasting memories of their children snuggled in beside them on a bench roasting marshmallows or hotdogs over an open campfire. The star filled sky overhead at the cottage is truly amazing!

Some people consider the Bruce Peninsula to be one of the last true hidden vacation gems in southern Ontario. Located just a few minutes away from the Willow Bank cottage are two of Canada's many national parks. The Bruce Peninsula National Park is a land based park that offers visitors an opportunity to experience the rugged beauty of the Bruce Peninsula. Fathom Five National Marine Park is a water based national park that encompasses some of Georgian Bay and many rock and tree covered islands including Flower Pot Island.

Tobermory is the closest town to the cottage. This picturesque little village is clustered around a natural harbour and features many restaurants, tourist shops, grocery stores, and liquor and beer stores.

An increasingly popular tourist activity is the Sunset Dinner Cruise aboard the Chi-Cheemaun Ferry. The ferry sails from Tobermory at dinner time heading north across the wide expanse of Georgian Bay to Manitoulin Island. Passengers can walk on to the boat in Tobermory and can dine as the sail over to Manitoulin Island. While they are dining, travellers can watch a spectacular sunset in the western sky over Georgian Bay or Lake Huron. Travellers heading to Tobermory and points south will then board the ferry and it will then sail back to Tobermory arriving around mid-night. While sailing to Tobermory, the place to be is on the stern deck watching an amazing display of stars or the Northern Lights overhead.

For photographers, hikers, naturalists and scuba divers, this area of Ontario is where dreams can come true. Tobermory has been called the Dive Capital of Canada. Scuba dive charters leave the downtown Tobermory area on a regular basis to take divers out to the many ship wrecks that lie beneath the crystal blue water's of Georgian Bay.

Guided walking tours along the rocky paths of the Bruce Trail on the Niagara Escarpment or along the sandy shores of Singing Sands on Lake Huron are available for visitors that are more comfortable on land.

The Willow Bank cottage and the Northern Bruce Peninsula are magical places where good times are enjoyed and pleasant memories are made.

Location Information: The Willow Bank cottage is located in a natural area on the shores of a sheltered inlet of Lake Huron. The cottage is aptly named because it was built on the bank of a trout stream named the Willow Creek as it flows into Lake Huron. This trout stream attracts birds, waterfowl and a wide variety of animals. There might be many cottages to rent on the Northern Bruce Peninsula but there are few that offer visitors as quiet and private a location as the Willow Bank cottage.
