| After just returning from a very relaxing week at the Oar House, words do not do it justice. If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle, this cottage is it. We were lucky with the weather, the lake was beautiful and with the sound of the waves rolling in you would think you were on a tropical getaway. Easily this must be the best place on the island. Looking forward to our return next year!

| No Air Conditioning in any room. We found the cottage an enjoyable place to stay but we arrived on the hottest day of the year to find no air conditioning in anywhere in the house. The statement in the write up saying 'a fan or air conditioning in every room' is very misleading, Cobwebs were also another problem, especially around the windows. This is understandable when the windows need to be open at all times. Everything else we found to be acceptable, but we would not go to this cottage again in the summer months unless air conditioning was added.

Réponse proprio: Owner's Response The Oar House was built in the 1930's as a men's fishing camp and over the years it has evolved into a family cottage with all the modern amenities, air conditioning being the exception. We have installed ceiling fans in all bedrooms, kitchen and the living room. Our children, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, friends and rental guests continue to enjoy and love the cottage and the Island. Because of this review, I will clear up any misconceptions or false statements made on the website and also in the information package issued to our renting guests.

| Just came back from a great week with the family at the Oar House. The cottage is rustic but has all the amenities you need. We loved the beach and the patio and spent most of our time lounging outside. Our island contact was welcoming and able to answer any questions we had throughout the week. The cottage is centrally located and no more than 10 minutes from any restaurants, groceries, the winery or any of the walking trails. Taking a water side zodiac tour of Pelee and the surrounding islands with Dean at Pelee Island Charters was a highlight of the week! https://www.peleeislandcharters.com/home Can't wait to return next time!

| We just spent a beautiful week at the Oar House! If you appreciate nature, falling asleep to the peaceful sound of waves, and gorgeous lake views, look no further. The Oar House is on the best side of the island for swimming! It is also fully stocked with everything you need for grilling and kitchen ware which was super helpful. The added bonuses were the outdoor shower, the cd player with a good collection of music, indoor games, and a fire pit! We loved watching the moon rise over the lake while relaxing on the patio next to a bonfire. The cottage was neat, tidy, and cozy, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was clean. The person who greeted us at check-in was warm, welcoming, and offered us great tips on local events happening during our stay. This has been our favourite cottage on Pelee Island so far. We highly recommend the Oar House!

| I would have given it a rating of 0 because the cottage itself was very dirty. But I gave it a 2 because I must admit the view of the lake and the beach area was very nice and made up for the cottage. First night at cottage we were greeted with thick cobwebs all over, dirty bug-infested windows, ripped curtains that looked like they were over 30 years old, dusty furniture, ant infestations. The only thing that was clean was the shower and the sinks. All furniture outside as well as inside covered with cobwebs, bugs, spiders, mayflies, midgies. Don't go at this time of year -- black flies will devour you as soon as you step outside.

Réponse proprio: I am the owner of this family cottage (built in the 1930's) and was the last occupant there before the Turnbull's arrival. I thought I left the cottage in a tidy and clean condition for incoming guests. Our regular ambassador/housekeeper was off the Island to celebrate Father's Day and was not there for the 'meet and greet' (was done by phone). I agree with the curtain observation and an Islander will be sewing us new ones. All guests are informed about insects in their information documentation. Insect repellent spay is available at the cottage and guests are advised to bring their own. I had placed some ant traps around but saw no ants unless of course food was left out. 'Tis the season for bugs and cottonwood floaters to dirty windows etc that daily cleaning is not possible to eliminate. We are in a vibrant natural environment with living things all around us. I had to deduct $100 from their security deposit. Their son had a single car accident and as a result our ambassador (arrived on the Island Mon. June 20) spent 2.5 hours (not part of her job mandate) assisting the Turnbull's with logistics and recommendations regarding the accident. This took her away from her other responsibilities with another employer. We stand by our excellent reputation, past customer satisfaction and very positive reviews.
