Upper Garden Nature Retreat - The Couples Cabin

Located near the town of Powassan, Ontario, less than 3 hours drive north of Toronto, you will discover Upper Garden Nature Retreat. Lying on 460 acres of beautiful and diverse forests and wetlands bordering the South River, this landscape is home to many varieties of wildlife native to Ontario and provides stunning scenery for our exclusive cottages. We offer you the opportunity to view many species in their natural habitat while enjoying the privacy and comforts of our unique, charming cabins.

Experience the peace and tranquility of our private groomed trail system perfect for bird-watching, hiking, photography, and just exploring or taking an evening stroll. Imagine seeing moose and deer wandering through the woods or listening to wolves howl in late evening; watching beaver gathering food or working on their dams at dusk; hearing frogs singing in the morning and early evening and catching sight of fireflies as they dance after dark. The river offers the experience of exploring the shoreline for animal prints and aquatic wildlife or just drifting in one of our included paddle boats and feeling the peacefulness of your surroundings.

Nestled in a grove of cedar trees at the end of a private drive is The Cabin. A stone walkway leads down to the deck outfitted with a patio set and BBQ which is surrounded by a beautiful garden and landscaped site. Inside you will find a cozy 450 square foot open-concept cottage with a living area that leads into a kitchen that includes a full size glass-top stove/oven, a microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher, and virtually every kitchen tool you need for daily cooking needs. Your feet will enjoy heated slate kitchen tile leading into the bathroom that includes a whirlpool tub and marble top antique dresser/vanity. Retreat into your sleeping loft that includes a custom, built-in oak queen size bed with designer bedding. The loft overlooks the living area that includes antique furniture, a very unique dining set and reading nook, solid oak flooring, a 46 inch LCD TV, a propane fireplace, and many custom design details that will make you feel totally at ease in the wilderness. Last but not least, The Cabin includes an apartment sized washer/dryer for your convenience. Built on the slope of a rocky ridge, this cottage is less than 5 minutes walk from our dock on the South River. The Cabin is perfect for couples looking to get away for a few days.

The Cabin includes a gas fireplace, fully outfitted kitchen, 46 inch flatscreen TV with DVD/BluRay player, included Netflix account and WiFi, a whirlpool bath, and queen size bed with designer bedding. North Bay and Powassan offer many activities and entertainment.
