Our private cottage fronts Silver Lakes' north/ west shore in Central Frontenac Township. It is between Sharbot Lake and Maberly and within 1/2 hour from Perth and Westport! Silver Lakes' south shore has # 7 HWY routed around it and has only several cottages on it. We are easily accessible from Ottawa (1.25 hrs drive) and Montreal or Toronto (3.5 hrs drive). We have a Facebook page and are listed on Google maps.
Weekly reservations are encouraged. We will only accept 3 day shorter reservations. The cottage location at the bottom of a hill encourages you to book for longer periods as you will have to transport your luggage down a gently winding walkway of 200 feet. The summer and fall months are favoured by us. What your favourite time to holiday?
You have found us and now it is time for fishing, relaxing, storytelling and feasting!
We are on the Canadian Shield, a land of rock outcrops, spring-fed lakes and wooded meadows. It's home to numerous birds, white-tailed deer, beaver, muskrats, wild turkeys and squirrels. Our lakeside cottage set near the water edge is an ideal vacation or getaway location.
What to do? Swim or boat in the crystal clear lake or relax under shady pines. Bring some fish food (stale bread) and make friends with a school of guppies. Dine on the deck or in the cottage kitchen. Paddle to the waterfalls and watch for otter, beaver and muskrat activity. Keep an eye out for loons and many other water birds. Share family memories around the fire pit. Hike the lane past yesterday's farm buildings.
Look for birds and other animals. Deer abound in the fields.
A true cottage experience for young and old awaits.

| This is our second year at the cottage. Our family of 4 love it. We and the kids have a great time on the water, swimming, fishing, kayaking and canoeing. It's a truly wholesome experience for us all. We cook some meals on the camp fire and enjoy the rustic retreat away from the hustle of every day. We've enjoyed trips to the waterfall and beach at the provincial park. There is a lot of opportunity for rest as well as exercise. It's a perfect vacation!

| We greatly enjoyed our week in June 2021 at this beautiful waterside cottage. We found it to be exactly as described. We had the pleasure of meeting Doug a couple of times when he dropped by the cottage to do some small jobs he had planned. We found him to be a friendly and generous host. The cottage is on a part of Silver Lake with only a few neighbouring cottages and is a private, calm, and tranquil place. We enjoyed the deck, the kayaks and canoe, the small waterfall, swimming in the cool waters, the loons, fireflies, and feeding the fish. The cottage had everything we needed and has many memorable small touches in the classic Canadian cottage tradition (loved the stuffed animal think teddy bear] moose head above the hearth).

| Silver Lake Vacation Cottage is a great value, in a superb location and less than 90 minutes from Ottawa. The cottage was very clean when we arrived and the kitchen is fully equipped. The cottage is right on the water and swimming or boating are easily accessible (they provide a canoe and two kayaks). It is surrounded by trees, quiet and has a wonderful fire pit. It is a great get-away. Given the proximity of the water and stairs to the upstairs bedroom, I would not recommend it for families with small children and also to path down to the cottage might be challenging for anyone with mobility issues. Anyone else, you have to check out this beautiful spot!

Owner response: I own this cottage and I concur with Malcolm. The cottage is suited for max of 5 family members who are healthy and can bring their belongings down a 200' sloping pathway from the car park. ( the problem with having the cottage so close to the lake). The loft on the second level is best suited to careful persons as it is fit into a small space and so constructed. The advantage of the cottage is its privacy and view across the lake. Do come and tell you stories . Doug Steele | |
