Simplicity is often exactly the perfect choice for a cottage vacation. Simcoe Lake House is a wonderful waterfront cottage that offers, peace, relaxation and waterfront, all within 10 minutes of town yet with the privacy of cottages far more remote.
This cottage is located less than 10 minutes from Orillia on the western shore of Lake Simcoe. With 3 bedrooms, bath, open-concept living/
kitchen/dining and full-length deck facing the water, it has the classic lake house look and feel. A waterfront dock is great for those who prefer their relaxing to the tune of waves lapping against the shore or beating the heat with a quick dip in the lake. There is also a nice-sized lawn should you wish to enjoy some yard games.
The cottage is bounded on one side by woods, with no neighbours on that side. A drive is shared with the owner, who has a cottage on the other side - privacy is still yours, as the cottages are more than 200 feet apart, more than you will find at most rentals. The view across the lake is spectacular, with islands and bays visible a few kilometres from shore.
You will likely want to explore the area during your stay and this location is well-suited as a base. Orillia is certainly within cycling distance and a 5-6 km walk will take you to the downtown area. Barrie is about 30 km away, and the historic Midland area a pleasant 50 km drive. You might want to breathe in some pure Canadiana at the Leacock Museum or Martyrs Shrine, enjoy some boating on the Simcoe/Couchiching chain and there is a nice selection of golf courses within a half-hours's drive.
All of this is just an hour from the GTA. If you're coming from Toronto, you're almost there already!

Waterfront
The grass area leads to the dock and waterfront. Entry is shallow and stoney. Swim shoes would be required. The water stays fairly shallow beyond the dock for 25-50 feet. While there is not usually much weed in this area, winds can blow weed in if north winds occur, and some weed growth may be experienced in late summer. Swimming in the shore area may be impacted should this occur.
Trivia
Originally incorporated as a village in 1867, the history of what is today the City of Orillia dates back at least several thousand years. Archaeologists have uncovered evidence of fishing by the Huron and Iroquois peoples in the area over 4,000 years ago as well as sites used by Native Americans for hundreds of years for trading, hunting, and fishing.
