Imagine basking on a Kawarthas cottage rental's sun-soaked dock or deck, drink in hand, while the waft of a BBQ steak reminds you that supper is near. You promise yourself a sunset paddle in the canoe before coming back for an evening campfire under the stars. And all that is after a perfect day of fishing, swimming and exploring the local area. What could be more enticing? And that is just what you can do in summer!
Otter Cove is a delightful location for a vacation at any time of the year, from a snowy winter break to a fabulous fall stay. With several small towns in easy reach ? Buckhorn, Burleigh Falls and Lakefield, there?s plenty of places to find shopping, restaurants and even renowned art galleries. A little further afield, but still in easy driving distance, Peterborough has theatres, a lively night life in summer, and a great boat trip on the highest hydraulic lift in the world. Even more reasons to choose this cottage.
Inside the cottage you?ll be delighted too with a comfortable and atttractively furnished interior. The main level has an open plan living room, dining area and kitchen, with windows across the lake front and doors onto the deck. The cream colour scheme creates a bright and light-filled look which feels cool in summer and with the fireplace on in winter, offers warmth and an enjoyable ambiance. The master bedroom and bathroom are on the main floor.
There are two more bedrooms and another bathroom on the lower level along with a family room on which is a cosy spot for watching a movie or curling up with a good book.
On the waterside, the decks and dock are inviting and have seating for taking meals outside or simply relaxing in the sunshine, or enjoying the hot tub. Fishing is great directly off the dock, or take the canoe out for an explore. The shoreline can be a little weedy so the owner recommends paddling out to the nearby swimming rock where the water is clear, for a cooling dip.
We thoroughly recommend this attractive cottage that will suit a small family or two couples looking for a quiet break.

Trivia
The first settler to the local area (c1827) was one John Hall, who constructed a dam and sawmill here in 1830. He became the first postmaster, and for matters of the Royal Mail the settlement was named "Hall's Bridge". However, John Hall's collection of deer antlers, which he displayed on the outside walls of his mills, gave rise to the name Buckhorn. It wasn't until 1936 the hamlet became officially recognized as by its present name. (Source - http://buckhorn.ca/about/Brief_History/index.php)
