Eilean Donan named after the MacRae castle in Scotland, is situated on the beautiful pink granite of the Frontenac Arch of the Canadian Shield. Whitefish Lake is part of the Rideau Canal System that has been listed as a UNESCO heritage site. The waterway winds from Ottawa to Kingston. The house is nestled high among white pines on a bay on the east side of the lake. See the most beautiful sunsets ever! The view of Whitefish Lake is stunning. Swimming and paddling is the best! Beautiful expanse of docks and decks (one floating) at the water. Decking surrounds the entire cottage. A new composite deck has been added in 2022 where you can eat while watching the fabulous sunset. There are 2 queen bedrooms, a sleeping loft (double bed), plus a gorgeous bunkie down at the waterfront with compostable toilet, which sleeps 2. There is an inflatable queen bed in the newly renovated sunroom. The cottage was renovated in 2015 and is very well maintained. The condition upon leaving would have to be the same as on arrival. Cleaning materials are provided. A refundable damage/ cleaning deposit of $500.00 is required. You will need to bring your towels and sheets with you. Linens are not supplied.

. The large kitchen is well equipped with cooking implements. We have a new refrigerator/freezer and stove. There is an ice maker, a electric composter, a Keurig, and Tassimo pod coffee maker plus a large coffee maker The cottage has a large wrap around deck, floating dock and deck on the water, all electrical appliances including a washer and dryer and DVD. Satellite TV is available. There is WiFi in the cottage. There are a wide selection of movies on site. We own a canoe and two kayaks. Life jackets, paddles and bailing kits are provided. There are Walkie Talkies, games, stereo, radios, books etc.
There is a compostable toilet in the bunkie (our cedar log cabin) and a refrigerator. Two can sleep in the bunkie which is located near the water. Swimming is great from a large floating cedar dock. There is no beach area. A large deck/dock has shade and sun, and fantastic sunsets to watch. A campfire area on a granite plateau provides a safe place for small campfires. Check to see if a burn ban is in effect.
There is a wood-burning, air-tight stove, plus 2 electric fireplaces. There is also a gas furnace and central air conditioning.
Local Rental Boats: There are a number of locations in the area to rent boats which can be tied up to our 20 foot floating dock. In Seeley's Bay there are Sunny Acres Resort and Marina, Rideau Breeze Marina and Rideau Cove Cottages. In Chaffey's Locks there are Brown's Marina and Skycroft. In Newboro there are Norris's Bait and Tackle and Stirling Lodge. In Portland there are Bayview Yacht Harbour and Len's Cove Marina. NOTES A two week rental, where feasible, is preferable to one week. Weekly rentals are Saturday 4:00 p.m. to Saturday 10:00 a.m. Reservation is secured with a 50% deposit with completed renter's contract (forwarded with booking information). Balance of rent is to be paid 3 weeks before the rental period begins. The security deposit will be returned within 14 days provided the cottage, contents, premises and boats are left damage-free and clean for the next family to enjoy. Our cancellation policy is: 100% refund of deposit up to 6 weeks before. 50% refund of deposit if less than 6 weeks before. No refund if less than 3 weeks before. | What a great cottage for a family vacation. This big clean cottage provided room for everyone to gather and also provided areas to sit and enjoy a book. The view from the deck is unbelievable and spending the day down by the lake on the dock was incredible. The only thing better than the cottage was the owners Brian and Muriel and it was a pleasure to meet them

| We just got back from our stay at the cottage and it was an amazing time! The owners are fantastic! Super responsive and very kind. The cottage itself is pretty big and spacious, very clean when we arrived and everything worked perfectly! The dock was awesome and we loved that there were canoes and kayaks right on the property to take out.

| This is one of the best and peaceful vacation we've ever had. We stayed for three days and we wished we stayed longer. We liked the cottage as soon as we arrived.
When we arrived in the cottage, Brian (owner) was already there and gave us a thorough tour of the cottage and the lake. He showed us everything that we need to know and where to find things handy. Eilean Donan cottage is very clean and equipped. The kitchen is complete with pots and pans and utensils. The beds in the bedroom are comfortable. There's a jet tub and it was nice to try.
The view from the dock is gorgeous. We had a nice weather during our stay so we spent most of the time in the lake. There's canoes and kayaks you could use for free.
At night we've also toasted marshmallows in the fire pit. There's tons of things to do. From board games, big collection of books and music. You won't get bored whether you stayed indoors or outdoors. There's a bbq grill too on the balcony. While my husband made food, I sat on the balcony enjoying the spectacular view.
On a side note, Brian and Muriel are very professional. Easy to deal and communicate with. From booking until we left the cottage.
We will surely rent Eilean Donan cottage again.

| We stayed here for a week during the summer of 2015, and had a lovely time. The cottage is very well cared for and clean. The area is quiet, secluded and peaceful. We spent most of our time on the dock and in the lake. We would rent here again, in a heartbeat!
