Beautiful restoration cottage located on the stunning Cape John Peninsula, River John. Views of the River John River and working fields. Minutes drive, walk or bike ride to sandy beaches with the warm waters of the North shore. Special September prices. Close to Tatamagouche (10 minutes) or Pictou (25 minutes). The cottage features a kitchen, dining room, parlour, bathroom with clawfoot tub and shower and upstairs bedrooms with queen, double and twin beds. Spacious upstairs allows for cribs if traveling with small children. Owner long ago had small child, and at one time home was baby proofed, and can be again. There are many toys from this and other eras of childhood. There is new wood stove and electric heat throughout. Washing machine in nearby town of Tatamagouche, and clothesline outside. Gas BBQ located on deck which faces onto the water. Beautiful gardens have been started, and the property has views of the fields, water and forest. Restored in 2010/ 11 this house was originally built in the 1850's. River John was primarily a boat building town at that time, and this house shows the care and craftsmanship of the trade. There are wooden knees in each of the four eves made of tree roots, a feature prominent in boat building. The softwood floors are hemlock, and the wooden walls are first growth hemlock slats. The tin you find throughout was originally present in the home, although often under layers of other materials. Many details of the original home have been preserved. Through a long process, this home has been lovingly restored.

River John is located near the mouth of the Northumberland Strait, half way between Pictou and Tatamagouche near the boundary with Colchester County. River John was first settled by Europeans during the 18th century and its port and the proximity of plentiful timber led to the development of a small shipbuilding industry. | My sons and I really enjoyed our week at GLC. We liked the atmosphere of the restored farmhouse; and enjoyed its private yard. There is a nice view across the field to River John and the beginning of the bay. We did several little hikes in the area and went to three beaches, all close by. Skinner's Cove Beach was our favourite. Evenings were spent playing Bocce Ball and board games that were at the cottage. We would definitely return.

| We enjoyed our one week visit. The cottage is a lovingly restored small farmhouse. Many of the original features have been maintained. It is rustic and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped. The bbq was excellent. The deck is spacious and comfortable with exterior table and chairs. The lawn is well maintained. Beaches are close by as is the village. Highly recommend for a laid back and comfortable country vacation. Sheila and Rita were very helpful and made us feel welcome and cared for.

| GLC was the perfect place to spend our family vacation! Aptly named ?Good Luck Cottage?, upon our arrival we were greeted with a full double rainbow! We spent the days beachcombing the shores of Cape John, and evenings enjoying the patio and star gazing. It was the ideal setting for us to disconnect and connect as a family, thank you for that. GLC will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

| Good Luck Cottage was healing medicine during a very tumultuous uncertain time. It balanced out all the craziness with quiet, chances for reflection and beauty. The care that Sheilah has taken in restoring the cottage brings you in touch with the history of the place that is unique and every square inch gives you chances to connect with nature and yourself. I will return again and again to be in its presence.

| Relaxation & Rejuvenation - This was my experience at the Good Luck Cottage. A beautiful setting to reset and recharge. The porch swing was one of my favourite places to sit and read and pass a summer evening, with the occasional visit from a deer. Coming from the city, I enjoyed the peace and quiet and nights lit up with stars. A perfect place for relaxing, resetting, and reconnecting. I cannot recommend this cottage enough!
