Every Tuesday & Wednesday, Friday & Saturday Haliburton Forest staff will lead you through the on-site, dark sky observatory to view and learn about the night sky. The Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve is one of the county's premier attractions and our favourite The Wolf Centre
This large, 15 acre enclosure is home to a pack of captive Timber Wolves. The Wolf Centre has an observation room, numerous educational displays, and a cinema/classroom with daily presentations. This is a unique opportunity to meet and get to know this special and elusive creature of the Canadian woods! We had a very relaxing week at Mapleview. The view from the cottage was the star of the show with the nice beachfront property. It was very quiet as well as it was at the end of a dead end road. The cottage was very well laid out with a nice open living area. The kitchen area was small which could have used more counter space but a large table was provided. The futon in the living area was spacious and comfortable for sleeping.

The owner's were fantastic and gave us a nice boat tour of the lake which we enjoyed very much. We couldn't have picked a better week for canoeing as the winds were light. We were out almost everyday except Thursday when the winds picked up. The downside is mosquitoes like the light winds as well. The owner's though provided us with a racquetball racquet size bug zapper which we find very satisfying to use.

As for fishing I knew it was bad a omen as I forgot my fishing net. Second day out canoeing I snagged a large bass which did a spectacular jump as soon as the lure dropped. After a long fight and as it got closer to the canoe it did another jump which my wife saw but headed straight under the boat and snapped the line. Also got three pikes off the dock with two smaller ones but one 4-5 pounder. The large pike managed to shake free at the dock. Could have used a net in both instances. :-(

All in all an excellent week for the both of us and looking forward to book again next Fall to experience the colours.

My Wife and I had an amazing getaway! Our only regret was not booking for longer! This is a hidden gem! The views from the cottage are stunning as the pristine lake is very closely situated in front of the cottage. The hospitality was amazing. From the boat ride, to the live music performance and the conversations we had, we really enjoyed the warmth from the family. They were very respectful in giving us privacy as well! The dock is also really nice! Pictures do not do justice for how nice and clean this cottage is. We'll definitely be back!!

We just loved the cottage.
The cottage had everything you needed, it was cozy, away from the hussle & bussle of traffic.
The lake was easy excess.
The views were amazing. Great for taking pictures.
I tried fishing right off the dock....I didn't catch anything but it was fun.
Great place to have your morning coffee.
Towns are close by plus alot sightseeing adventures
Over all a Fabulous place. Would highly recommend it.

My stay was outstanding, I can't even list all the things I was impressed with. To start, the hosts were pleasant, friendly and accommodated all my needs. To my utmost surprise, the hosts took me on an amazing boat ride and I got to experience the beauty of Haliburton from cruising around the lake and from the privacy of my deck.
The sunsets were incredible!
Looking forward to returning next year.

We had the best weekend. The property is beautiful, and the fishing is UNBELIEVABLE right off the dock! The owner was so nice, amd took us for a boat ride to the next lake. I highly recommend visiting, you will not regret it! Looking forward to returning next summer!
