The Pioneer cottage is a seasonal 3 bedroom, waterfront, pet/ smoke free cottage at the east end of Palmerston Lake with a NW setting. We enjoy hosting mature quiet couples and families that appreciate a rural environment.
Located just 100 km SW of Ottawa and a similar distance north from Kingston, or 3.5 hours East and North of Toronto, our cozy cottage has a traditional feel to it, is nestled under a canopy of trees and has the pristine, clean and clear Palmerston Lake out it's front door.
3 bedrooms with 2 queen beds and 1 double bed and 3 piece bathroom accommodates a family of 4-6 OR 3 couples. Maximum 6 people occupying the cottage.
Included for your enjoyment are SATELLITE TV, built in DVD player in flat screen TV, Satellite WI-FI for light browsing only( please do not use Internet for Netflix, music, or movie streaming or downloading), ELECTRIC HEAT, fully equipped kitchen includes all cooking needs, microwave, fridge, stove, 3 piece bathroom, W/D available May-Sept.,ceiling fan, large furnished screened porch with new furniture facing the lake, complimentary use of propane BBQ on patio area with picnic table, a second octagonal picnic table on a patio stoned area on the lawn, canoe, kayak and pedalboat, and an abundance of seasonal sunsets viewed from a newly created decked area.
PLEASE PROVIDE your own sheets and pillow cases,(comforters and pillows are provided for each bed) bath towels and toiletries, septic friendly toilet tissue, laundry soap, drinking water. (cottage has lake water intake and filtered through a UV)
SATELLITE WI-FI, SATELLITE TV, CELL SERVICE, PET/SMOKE FREE.
Unlimited public access to crown land (with crown land pass) and many other lakes in the area for fishing such as The Quinns, Granite, Mair, Redhorse, Minnow, Mosque, Summit, Wolfe etc. Palmerston Lake is a very deep, clean, clear, spring fed lake and offers good Bass and Lake Trout fishing from May-Nov.
Enjoy the hiking trail system just minutes from the cottage which offers easy to challenging trails to magnificent/breathtaking viewpoints.This expansive natural wonderland offers a plethora of outdoor recreational possibilities.
Waterfront:
Our property has 150 ft. of lake frontage and offers good swimming, wharfside docking for your own boat or in the boat slip. An intimate small public beach is within a few minutes by car or boat. Boat launch is close by.
Heating: electric baseboard heating in every room.
Children allowed: Yes.
Guests allowed: Some exceptions may apply. Please inquire. This is not a day use property.
Smoking: NO-Please smoke outdoors away from the cottage.

Included for your use, the complimentary use of canoe with paddles, 2 person kayak, rowboat, pedalboat, some life jackets, some pool noodles(during summer months only) propane BBQ including propane, Wi-Fi for light browsing only, Satellite TV, fully equipped kitchen for your meal preparations.
Our local marina and general store offers a variety of services including 24/7 gas, coffee, gifts, ice cream, maps and more. (The marina in Ompah is currently closed with no known re-opening date)
Boat launch and small public beach is a short distance away.
The next village of Plevna (15 km) has an LCBO, Family restaurant open with limited hours Wed. thru' Sunday, gas, grocery store, Shamrock Bakery (seasonal) and children's playground with pickle ball court.
Your hosts are a senior couple who reside on the property year round and enjoy sharing it with responsible/mature families and outdoor enthusiasts/couples. We respectfully request you seek an alternate cottage if you are holding a party/event.(wedding, graduation, bachelor party etc.

| We had a very pleasant stay! Cottage is very clean and well equipped. Palmerston Lake is exceptionally clear and the surrounding area is beautiful.

| We were pleased when we arrived and saw the cottage for the first time. The cottage was so cozy and comfortable and very clean. The kitchen is a good size with lots of cupboards for all your groceries. Even though it was a cool weekend we still loved sitting in the screened in porch. We have been to many lakes but have never seen a lake as clean and clear as Palmerston lake. Thank you Kathy for everything. You were very accommodating. It was so nice to talk to you about the lake and the area. If you rent this cottage you won't be disappointed.

| We had an amazing time everything was perfect extremely clean. I over packed because I was not sure what to bring as far as kitchen and cleaning supplies lol Kathy has all you need. The water was fabulous I'm not big on weeds this was sand bottom and not a weed anywhere to be found it was perfect. We had 1 morning early afternoon cool and rainy but could still enjoy it in the screened porch. We are planning to come back later in the fall and at least a few times next year. I would highly recommend this location all the cottages a great. Thank you Kathy and Don for sharing your little piece of heaven on earth . Truly a beautiful spot it feels like home.

| My family and I have stayed at both The Guesthouse, and The Pioneer over the years. These cottages are very clean and welcoming. The property is extremely well kept and Lake Palmerston as well as its surrounding trees is just absolutely breath taking. We have young children and they also very much enjoy visiting Young's Cottages. Our five-year-old daughter loves watering the flowers, raking the leaves, roasting marshmallows by the fire, going for rides on the paddle boats, as well as the petting zoo nearby. Kathy and Don have always made our stays very pleasant. We look forward to our next visit.
