***NEW FOR 2024 - We now have AIR CONDITIONING!
This is a lovely place to"work from home" out of, since there is high speed internet, although cell signals can be a bit spotty (we now have a booster, but it only seems to boost Rogers). If you forward your phone to our land line or to your computer you will be all set. The boathouse makes a lovely office.
Please note: during COVID check in and check out times are adjusted to allow for a more thorough cleaning/sanitizing as much as possible between guests. During June to September, check in at 5pm. Check out at 10am.
DURING COVID, YOU WILL HAVE TO BRING YOUR OWN PILLOWS, SHEETS, BLANKETS, as well as your TOWELS. WE HAVE REMOVED OURS FOR EVERYONE'S SAFETY.
Year round family cottage rental with central heat and a propane fireplace - brand new pine log cottage, built in 2011. Luxury kitchen with quartz countertops added at the end of 2021.
Only 1.5 hours from Toronto. Accessible road even in winter, although you will need snow tires. End of June to early September rental weeks will run Sunday to Sunday.
Please note this is a cottage. It's not the Ritz-Carlton. You may find that the housecleaning services are not as all-encompassing as yours are. Yes, there will be ashes in the firepit, and often little bits in the BBQ down on the heat shields. We aren't going to wash the thresholds of the patio doors between guests. We do expect you to leave the cottage clean when you depart. Yes, we now have a housecleaning service as we have found that people in their hurry to get out the door often overlook certain things and the next people get a little irritated. NOTE FOR NEW 2022 bookings, we have unfortunately had to add a cleaning fee, due to a sudden change with our housecleaning service provider, as our previous cleaner has suddenly died.
If you want to rent our beautiful cottage, you will have to send us an email so we can send you the contract. We can't do that with texts, or over the phone line. Just email us.
Please note that we did a dock upgrade in spring 2021 to extend our boating/toy water access, and it is ready to go approx. April to end of October!
You can arrange for a boat rental (including pickup and delivery) at https://www.peelmarine.ca/
We have ceiling fans in the main part of the cottage and all 3 of the bedrooms with an LED light and fan with a remote. They produce a nice breeze, and lots of light.
Internet access with WIFI. Dry boathouse, and a lightweight kevlar canoe.
100 feet of private waterfront location. (Yes there are neighbours on each side of us, but there are cedar hedges giving privacy between each cottage.) Partly shady on one half, sunny on the other, with a large flat area at the shore for lounge chairs. Natural rocky shoreline accessed by 5 stone steps. We have a ladder at the end of the dock, and aluminum stairs with a handrail at the landing by the shore.
Lake has a hard bottom, made up of some rock, pebbles, clam or mollusk/mussels shells, some earth which may get soft. There may be some weeds occasionally, especially with very hot summer weather (especially in deeper areas where we don't step on the bottom), and the bottom may be a bit soft in places. Yes, there are going to be weeds out in the bay, although we cut the weeds close to the dock in mid-July when the fish are done with their nests. We recommend water shoes to protect feet from mussel shells and any mud.
Water is about a foot and a half deep at the shore and about 5-ish feet deep at the end of the dock (early in the season - levels may drop if it is very dry). Water gets deep slowly with no drop-off spots.
The lake is considered to be a warm water lake, and is only 30 feet deep at its deepest point. Public boat launch is nearby on Round Lake Road (no launch fees). White buoys mark large rocks to avoid if you have a boat.
There are lots of fish (muskie, sunfish, perch, walleye, large and smallmouth bass). Fishing licenses are only required for adults, age 18 - 64.
Cottage comes with a canoe (with 2 seats), and 2 kayaks (sit-in), 2 more kayaks (sit-on-top) plus a stand up paddleboard during the boating season. Lifejackets available. (3 children's size 60 - 90 lbs) Plenty of water toys are available! 18 foot long Float-Eh mat, Pool noodles ( jumbo and regular) and some inflatable water toys (Moose, raft, chair, etc) are there for you to use.
Accessibility: The cottage has 4 steps at both the front and the back, and has handrails. The lot is flat and level at the road side, but slopes towards the lake with approximately a 4 foot drop over 30 feet. There are an additional three steps at the waterfront, and 5 aluminum steps with handrail. We do have a ladder at the end of the dock.
Accommodations: Please no smoking inside the cottage.
The three bedrooms are quite cozy. There is only space for a playpen inside one of the bedrooms without blocking your access to your bed. Each bedroom has a ceiling fan. We have hooks on the walls for your things, as well as a dresser in 2 of the bedrooms, a small storage thing in the other plus storage baskets under the bunk beds.
No air conditioning.
Open concept living room, dining area and family room, with very large windows and doors facing the lake. Eastern exposure - see amazing sunrises over the bay.
There is one bathroom. It has a full bathtub & lots of storage.
Driveway fits 4-5 full size cars in summer. Fits about 3 in winter if we have lots of snow. The cottage has a propane furnace central heating, as well as a propane fireplace. Stackable washer & dryer, and small laundry line outside. Full size french door refrigerator with bottom mount freezer in the kitchen, plus bar fridge in the boathouse. Lots of board games & a selection of PlayStation 2 games Some books, and a large selection of DVDs/Blu-rays (kid, family, action) High speed INTERNET with wifi. (you bring the sheets, pillowcases, blankets; also you need to bring all your towels - for both kitchen & bath and swimming)
Kitchen equipped with: dishwasher large fridge convection stove with warming oven beneath microwave toaster oven coffee maker (can brew a pot or just a single cup) coffee perk & coffee bean grinder griddle popcorn popper blender Lots of pots & pans ample dishes and utensils rechargeable LED lantern radio

| Sandy and Randy were amazing hosts. They are always prompt in their responses and best of all they have everything at the cottage inside and outside. They are not stingy at all and really gave us the feeling that they really want us to have a good time. We sure did. And have already recommended their cottage to our friends and family to enjoy! Thank you for sharing your space with our family!

| return visit after several years. this time around without incident of a passing overnight storm accidentally setting adrift the canoe unmanned into the lake, LOL. even though the incident was a harrowing incident, in the end it turned out fine. how understanding and helpful Sandy and Randy was in handling the situation with us has always stuck in our minds.
there has been some nice renovations done to an already very well equipped and furnished cottage since our prior stay. we especially enjoyed the addition of the paddle board and floating moose. there's not much more you can really ask for and wouldn't hesitate recommending renting Pine Burrow from Sandy and Randy.

| We stayed at Pine Burrow cottage the last week of September and were very happy with the cottage and the entire booking experience. It's quite spacious, the beds were very comfortable and the kitchen has all the cooking essentials. The area was very quiet and the deck is a wonderful place to sit out and read or just take in the wonderful scenery. The booking process was easy and Sandy is wonderful to deal with (I"m sure Randy is as well). Sandy is quick to reply to any questions, making us feel very confident we had made the right choice for our vacation rental. We wouldn't hesitate to book this cottage again!

| This is a great cottage. It is very clean and has everything you could possibly need. There were tons of outdoor water toys (kayak, paddleboard, big blue water mat). Great fishing in the area too. The owners are great to deal with and answered all questions in a timely manner.

| This was the first time our group had ever rented a cottage and it was an excellent experience! The owners helped us to prepare and answered all of our questions in a very timely fashion. This cottage has all of the conveniences from home, yet makes you feel that you are far from home. We had such a peaceful week and thoroughly enjoyed the regular visits from the hummingbirds, butterflies, dragonflies and chipmunks. We were either swimming or paddling every day, visiting the friendly fish that are never far from the dock. The morning sun rises were stunning and it was such a treat to have loons calling across the lake to one another. During a time when vacations could not involve a lot of travel, we were able to have a week away with very special memories!
