Thank you for visiting our listing! Whippoorwill Valley Cottages on Calabogie Lake is a quiet oasis for families. We offer six, family affordable cottages on a 6 1/ 2 acre property with 350 feet of the best sand beach on the lake. We open up our cottages on the Victoria Day Holiday Weekend in May. Two night minimum stays are available until June 16 then we switch to Summer Peak Season and weekly rentals. ONE WEEK MINIMUM with FRIDAY TO FRIDAY stays, so that everyone can enjoy a full, continuous weekend relaxing at the beach.
Our facility includes a one bedroom, 2 x two bedrooms and 3 x three bedrooms with a massive private waterfront, nestled into 6.5 acres of forest with private sand beach. Each cottage is unique in itself and all have their own special attributes and large, private yards. All cottages have cable television. The very large waterfront and our system of colour coded Adirondack chair seating ensures physical distance recommendations are exceeded by ten times. We have not ever received a negative comment from a guest that indicated our waterfront and beach felt busy or crowded.
Lee's Hollow and Luke's Lair have BELL FIBE high speed internet suitable for ZOOM meetings, streaming, etc. These two cottages are NOT pet friendly. Our four summer cottages have internet service through a central router on the waterfront which means you can check emails, browse, etc. but Office Zoom meetings would be a bit sketchy.
Very brief description of each cottage follows below. After receiving your enquiry with number of persons and the makeup of your group, preferred dates and preferred cottage, we promptly respond with appropriate availability and a collection of photos. Four of our cottages are considered pet friendly, with restrictions (Small 10-20 pound range, non-shedding and non-barking) and must be pre-approved.
Lee's Hollow: Central air, fully equipped separate kitchen that includes a dishwasher, two bedrooms have Queen bed and kids room has two twin size beds, master bedroom has an adjoining half bath and there is a second full bath with tub/shower. You can enjoy summer picnics on your elevated deck with a panoramic view of lake and beach. Enjoy your own fire pit, on a manicured lawn, bordered by perennial and annual gardens. High speed internet service.
Honey House: Quaint, popular two bedroom summer cottage with one Queen bed, one Double bed and the sitting room sofa converts to a bed if needed. Your kitchen is fully equipped and your sitting room has unobstructed view of the beach and lake. Outside your entry you can enjoy your own fire pit, BBQ and soft gazebo for escaping the noon day sun.
Homestead: Three bedroom summer cottage with large attached screened verandah that offers an incredible view of your waterfront lawns and lake. Fully equipped kitchen, large 3 piece bath, bedrooms have one Queen, one Double and two Twin. The sitting room view looks out towards the lake and there is sofa bed that converts to a Queen bed. Your screened verandah has steps leading down to the waterfront lawns. Lakeside: Three bedroom summer cottage that is just ten steps from the water's edge. Each bedroom has one Double size bed, the sitting room is very comfortable and your full view is of the lake. Kitchen is fully equipped and just outside the kitchen door is your soft gazebo. You can watch the children playing in the sand or sit out in the evening protected from pesky mosquitoes. There is a two piece bath and a separate shower with dressing room. Private deck perch overhanging the water where you can count the clouds during the day or the stars at night. Private fire pit and propane fired BBQ.
Creekside: Very quaint and very cute summer cottage, our Creekside would have to be considered the most ideal for a private setting. Fully equipped modern kitchenette with double oven in new propane fired kitchen range. Although not a large cottage, the attached screened verandah and elevated deck with private yard expands the space tremendously. Trickling by this cottage is Whippoorwill Creek which adds to the charm. Private fire pit on your lawn. Your cottage is only a few steps across the wooden bridge to the water's edge.
Lukes Lair: Our one bedroom is ideal for a single, a couple or a couple with young child. It is adjacent to the Hollow in a garden villa style with an elevated deck, private fire pit on your manicured lawns, fabulous view of the waterfront and a one minute stroll down to the waterfront area. Queen size (pillow top style) bed and the sofa in the open concept room folds out to a double bed. Your kitchenette is fully equipped and you have a BBQ on your deck. The bath is three piece with stand up shower. The Lair has Bell FIBE high speed internet service.
Non motorized Watercraft (Canoe, Rowboat, Adult Kayaks, Children's Kayaks, Pedal Boats) are available for your complimentary use. We installed a large Beachfront Station where you may freely avail yourself of disinfectants and sanitizers if wanted. We have established a colour coded seating arrangement for you to readily identify your assigned Adirondack chairs within our cottage waterfront lawns and beach.
We control the intensity of use within our facility regarding visitors, so that all may enjoy an uncrowded and private vacation experience. Please speak with us in advance to arrange for any visitors.

| Unfortunately, Due to the rodent infestation in Lakeside cottage, we had to cut our vacation short. We were offered a discount for a cottage rental next year, but due to this year's experience, We will not be returning to your cottage. I asked for compensation. The offer was too low for the distress this experience caused us.
Rodents ate our food. They chewed their way into my bag of gluten free oats, chips and tea bags. They used the saucepan I brought from home as a toilet. With mouse droppings on the saucepan lid. I had to throw out the saucepan and frying pan as well as dish towels and dish cloths and Food.
If my daughter was allowed to bring her dog, a Corgi, he would have taken care of the rodent infestation. My daughter and granddaughter's 2 hour visit cost me $75! Mice were keeping me awake at night and crawling up the mattress near my head. As well as trying to get into my suitcase. They made quite the racket attacking the bag of oats and chips on the microwave. This was detrimental for our health and well being. We left after three nights of terror. You said you would stop into the cottage to check the mouse traps in the morning. Yet, when we arrived in the morning to pack up, there were TWO dead mice in the traps!

Owner response: We struggled to create any form of rebuttal to the creative imagination generating the untrue claims put forth by this couple. It's a lose/lose situation for any proprietor when false claims are submitted. Recognizing the fact they were elderly we put great care into choosing the best suited cottage and checked in on them daily. Nearly all their statement is untrue and unjustified. We are pet friendly so do not understand the statement regarding her daughter's pet. There was positively no $75 charge for her daughter and granddaughter to visit. What is true, is that there were mice that somehow entered the cottage and this was on the fourth day of their stay. We immediately set traps and caught two mice. We believe they entered the cottage while a door was left open. Certainly not an infestation! We have had not a single mouse in our Lakeside Cottage for many years. That being said, a mouse in anyone's house is not unusual at this time of year, even in the best of homes. There is no mention in their comments of the discount and refund offered equalling 40%. We hope the many positive guest reviews over the past years speak louder than this single review. It is simply unfair, unjustified and misleading. | |

| We just enjoyed our third consecutive year at whippoorwill cottages.
It was another amazing week at Calabogie Lake that come to a close all too quickly. We look forward to the trip all year. Bill and Deb never disappoint. The cottages are well maintained, cozy, and a perfect fit for our family.
It is a pleasure to get accounted with others at the beach, and take advantage of all the available water toys.
Per usual, we fished, swam, jumped in, swam? enjoyed a campfire, read some books, played games, and fished some more.
This year, we ended the week with some time on the lake via the pontoon boat rental that Billl made available.
Our time at Whippoorwill Cottages is always a pleasure (rain or shine), with many memories being made in this family tradition. We are looking forward to our next time at Calabogie in with plans in the making...

| We stayed at Honey House for the first week of our holidays and then moved to Homestead House and Lee's Hollow when our family arrived for the second week. The accommodations are fresh, clean and the beds are comfortable. Bill and Deb take excellent care of the property and it shows. Lovely gardens, spotless cottages and lots of beach toys for the kids. We even took the pontoon boat for a spin. The area has lots to see and do, but relaxing at the beach or around the campfire is all you need to do. We'll be back!

| This was the first time we had a cottage experience and let me say.. it was PURE PERFECTION!
Thank you Bill and crew for making our experience memorable! We stayed at the Honey House and I loved how clean and fresh it was. You can notice right away that Bill and Deb put so much work and care to maintain the properties.
Bill helped us a lot since it was our first cottage experience. He was very attentive and quick to respond to our requests. I didn't expect the nights to be cooler, and he happily provided us with more blankets. He made sure we had water due to a short power loss.
We enjoyed fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, s'mores and camp fire nights with very nice neighbors who were staying at the same property. My 4 year old had a blast playing at the beach and making new friends!
I look forward to making this escape a family tradition. I hope to see you next summer! :)

| We are a returning family and as always couldn't have asked for anything more. As always the place was clean, beds comfortable and the cottage had everything we could possibly need for us to use. That aside, this time around I would like to take the time to really commend Bill and Deb for their care during our stay. We opted to not cancel our May long weekend plans even thought the forecast was less than desirable (mother nature does not stop us) For the most part it was a sunny weekend however Saturday a storm hit and hit hard. We lost power for the remainder of our stay. Bill was on location as soon as the storm was over and made sure we were all ok. Provided us with a generator and fuel and extra candles among other things to ensure we were taken care of. He then came back over the course of the weekend to make sure the generator kept running. We couldn't of asked for more care for our family than what we were given on that weekend stay. Power loss aside we still had a great weekend. Thank you Bill and Deb we will see you in September.
