THANKSGIVING WEEKEND AT THE COTTAGE - Dinner by the Woodstove! $1500

Get away from it all in style! A gorgeous artistic home on waterfront property available to discerning holiday makers for short term rentals year round. Available off season at negotiable rates.
House sleeps 10. Directly on the water at Georgian Bay, Lake Huron, 2 hours north of Toronto.

Not your typical 'cottage rental' - the house is decorated with real art, antiques, and stylish furniture. Plus all the comforts you expect - luxury bedlinens, a steam shower, well equipped gourmet kitchen, and of course all the nature you can handle.

The house is located on spacious private grounds, with hammocks, benches and loungers tucked into nooks for you to escape into with your book and G n T.

The lake is great for swimming, warm and with free flowing fresh water. Sea kayaks available for you to consider using as you lie in the hammock.

Graze in the herb garden to upgrade your meals, which you enjoy al fresco watching the sun set. ( Secret! Very few mosquitos here due to the breeze off the water! )

Take the vintage bicycles for a spin to a local farm to collect fresh eggs and natural honey, and maybe a spot of horseback riding. Local french village Lafontaine has great gourmet food and an LCBO.

On a rainy day unwind in the steam shower - there's room for 2! Or dig through the collection of old vinyl LP's, or maybe watch a movie - there's tons.

There are beautiful provincial parks to explore nearby, or take the ferry ( or challenge yourself to paddle across in a kayak ) to Christian Island for some of Canada's best beaches!

My family stayed at the Dacha over the May long weekend and really enjoyed it. Although the weather was not the best we were able to spend some time outside and also had a nice fire going in the evening. Thanks to Alison for making sure there was wood and coal for the bar b que. I have to say the beds were very comfortable and the fact we did not have to carry linen was a bonus. The many games and old LP records kept us entertained. The cottage came well equipped and clean. Thanks again Alison.

We had a great time at the Dacha and really enjoyed the beautiful waterfront with it's many spots for sitting and relaxing. The house was comfortable and it was great to have bedding provided. We loved being in the area as there was so much to do-- we cycled locally, visited the local sandy beach fronts (only 5 minutes away), did the boardwalks at Wye Marsh, and enjoyed the bakeries and coffee shops in Midland. The Dacha is a great for both those who wish to do nothing and those who want to be more active. Our only challenge was that the downstairs bedroom was quite damp, which is apparently due to this year's very high water levels on Georgian Bay and not the norm. Overall we had a great stay and would happily go back.

We had a wonderful time at the Dacha and were blessed with amazing weather.
Our family used almost every corner of the indoor and outdoor spaces and enjoyed much of the amenities. Of particular note, the Kayaks were a great bonus and the Vinyl selection totally blew our minds.
When we arrived, the property management folks were there to meet us and give us a quick run down of the facilities and amenities. The place was clean and the rooms spacious. We had wonderful meals and a great time hanging both outside and in the great room. The beach is rocky, so water shoes were need for most of us, it was also fairly small, but the summer of 2017 has had very high water levels across Ontario, so this was expected. Everything else was perfect!

Thank you Alison for a great stay for Canada's 150th Birthday, we left a note in the guest book, we hope to be here again next year.

Easter weekend 2017 was the second time we stayed at The Dacha, our firs visit there was for Thanksgiving weekend 2016. Both times we had a great time and enjoyed the beauty and tranquility of the place.
We are a group of cottage goers and have been to many different places, but without reservations, I must say that The Dacha is by far one of the best places we have been at.
Alison is a wonderful host, who makes the booking process very easy and gives detailed information about the property, directions how to get there and local attractions.
The house is very well decorated and equipped with everything one might need for the stay. Each room has its own character and has comfortable beds and first grade linens. There are a lot of books and vinyl records to enjoy, board games and much more. The place is very bright and cozy.
The garden is stunning and welcoming, the beach is small and stony but this is what makes it interesting, because you can always find your lucky charm. There is a lot to do in the area if you are not interested in staying on the beach. You can take a bike and ride to the maple syrup and honey farms, you can take the path and have a nice walk or go to the park and enjoy the nature at its best.
Overall, the dacha is an amazing place with a lot of hidden gems, very warm and welcoming, and we would love to go back there again.
Thank you Alison!
