September is still swimming season and the forest canopy slowly transforms from gorgeous green to a magnificent mosaic of rich red, orange and yellow surrounding the towering pine and spruce trees. Come to Jack Pine Escape if you want to relax, connect to nature and re-energize.

Top 10 September-October Must-Do's at 'Jack Pine Escape' on Crane Lake
1 - Stoke the fire in the woodstove to lift the morning crisp (in fairness more an October thing :-)).
2 - Paddle all 23 Bays of Crane Lake and choose your favorite blend of fall colours to photograph.
3 - Silently watch a stalking Great Blue Heron as she lunges for a late-season lunch.
4 - Listen to the breeze-induced rustle of the falling leaves.
5 - Stroll the quiet cottage roads looking for a slinking fox, a squawking turkey or a grazing grouse.
6 - Go for a late afternoon skinny dip. Do it, do it. No one is watching.
7 - Witness a 'raft' of Great Northern Loons preparing to leave their summer home.
8 - Have a candle lit dinner and take in the full moon rising through the island Jack Pine treetops.
9 - Read the book you've been putting off, pausing only to notice how clean the air smells and how quiet it is.
10 - Feel the radiating heat and crackling fire as the woodstove fills the cottage with dancing shadows and warmth before bedtime.

Jack Pine Escape is a wonderful cottage that we have returned to for a number of years. It is clean and bright and has a spacious living area with incredible lake views from every angle along with a well-equipped kitchen. The swimming is divine and Crane Lake is filled with nooks and crannies for a paddler to explore and enjoy. We have rented many cottages over the years and this property is particularly special!

Thank you - we look forward to hosting you again next season!

We have been renting the cottage for 9 years in both summer and fall. Peter is great to work with and the cottage is always clean and in perfect order when we arrive. The kitchen is a great size and well equipped. We have hosted Thanksgiving there for family and made a full Turkey feast! Peter supplies all the wood and kindling for the wood stove and it is always dry from being stored under the cottage. While the summer is always lovely and relaxing, it is in Autumn that the cottage truly comes into its own. The intensity of the colors of the turning leaves is mirrored in the intensity of Peace and connection with nature that surrounds anyone fortunate to be at the cottage. The cottage becomes a true sanctuary with the wood stove providing warmth and the large picture window of the living room framing morning mists on the lake, deep blue skies and dancing leaves that drift by on the breeze. The cooler weather and quiet means you can canoe around the lake in comfort exploring the many bays and hidden passages by canoe into other lakes while having the company of many more creatures. Relaxing on the dock is a wonderful option too in the fresh air while reading or sit out on the dock at night and see all those stars, shooting stars and planets that are more brilliant in the cold clear night air. If you are lucky, as we have been many times, Mother Nature's lantern that is the Full Moon will appear as you sit by the fire pit. Fall memories of the cottage are magical!

Thank you for booking with us - glad to hear how much you enjoy your stays.

We have been renting here for 10 years. The cottage is beautifully clean with all the amenities we need for time to reconnect with nature. Jack Pine offers days of paddling adventures on Crane Lake and connected lakes. Even though the lake is large, it is incredibly quiet, allowing for peaceful campfires, swims across to the island and great views of the night sky. We will continue to make visits to Jack Pine Escape a part of our vacation plans!

Thanks for your review - we love reading in the guest book about your family adventures on the lake!

Gorgeous cottage with great views of the lake!! We had a great week, caught some big ones, large mouth bass, right off the dock!! The resident chipmunks were so cute, eating peanuts right from your hand!! Thanks, we also got our cardio for the week with the stairs down to the cottage/lake :D

We stayed here for 3 nights in September while my parents visited from Ireland.
The cottage was in pristine condition and the view of the lake from the window is amazing.
The deck area and steps down to the lake are very picturesque.
It's very nice to canoe or kayak around the little islands on Crane Lake too.
Pete was very easy to deal with and extremely helpful with any questions we had.
Will definitely be coming back in 2020!
