If you are seeking restitution away from the pressures of everyday living, enjoy "glamping" without the fuss, our lakefront yurt & cabin is sure to re-connect you back to nature and explore the ultimate Algonquin experience. This wonderfully, amazing, peaceful & secluded natural oasis is in the heart of one of Ontario's top tourist areas, just minutes away from internationally renowned Algonquin Provincial Park & Arrowhead Provincial Park & precisely 12 minutes from Muskoka's cultured town of Huntsville. We provide a complimentary day pass to both local provincial parks! During late Spring, Summer and Fall the adjacent cabin compliments the yurt in giving you an additional screened-in porch overlooking the dock. They are both located within meters of each other and you will be assured full privacy on the 11 acres of private property. Pets with up-to-date vet shots are welcomed at no charge :) The thought of sitting around a campfire under a clear sky, gazing up at the stars and listening to the sounds of the night can pacify your minds and rejuvenate your soul! Our latest upgrades now include a propane frig and new 3 season heated outdoor shower! For our winter guests we now have heat in the Kitchen Cabin and off grid power for lighting, toaster and coffee maker. Each booking comes complete with a full compliment of camp firewood for both woodstove and firepit. Check out this website pictures of our unique outdoor washroom which our guests fondly call " Muskoka's finest privy" It even features art work! Our guests are impressed with the vast 85 acre spring fed lake and waterfall just a few meters from the yurt. The lake is virtually undeveloped surrounded with crown land and private ownership with only one other small cottage on the entire lake.
When you arrive to this 100% Canadian made yurt /cabin will be clean & setup with basic pots and pans to cook on either the propane bbq c/w side burner or wood stove.
For a perfect night's sleep, we provide a cozy deluxe queen size bed. Guests would only need to bring their own personal queen size sheet set (or sleeping bag), pillows, blanket, and towels.
This off grid package also includes: unique outdoor privy, open fire pit, starter supply of kindling /firewood, private dock, waterfall, stream, Muskoka chairs, ample selection of games & reading material (for quieter moments), and a solar power pack to operate small appliances.
Seasonally, we supply a complimentary canoe from Spring into early Fall and 2 pairs of high-tech snowshoes during the snow months. NEW: We've now added two kayaks to explore Benson Lake - guests would need to bring their own lifejackets.
You can safely dive off the T shaped dock (c/w canoe). It's 40ft in length with a recently added 8ft x16ft. pontoon deck section. The dock is conveniently located only 300ft away from the Yurt and only 40ft. from the cabin.
During the cooler seasons, you will be kept snuggly warm even during the coldest of wintery nights inside Yurt's wool lined interior and our new high-functioning wood stove. Its large 17' diameter and 4' skylight makes it the perfect size for a couples getaway!
Yurts have developed into great popularity over the past decade, where campers/cottagers can experience a high end upgrade to traditional camping without the work, lately referenced as glamping. The sounds of nature is purely therapeutic : )
Muskoka is just a 2 1/4 hour drive north of Toronto. We are located just minutes from historical Huntsville and 30 minutes from the gateway to Algonquin Park, right in the heart of Muskoka District with its vast 2500 square miles of stunning pine and maple forests, 1600 lakes, waterfalls, cliffs and breathtaking scenery!
Here are just a few of our many 5 star REVIEWS!
Feb 17th GREAT time of the grid! We came here for peace, relaxation, and the great outdoors. This property met those requirements and more. The yurt was well-equipped, cozy (thanks to the woodstove) and secluded enough that you felt away from everything, yet because it was only a short hike and 10 minute drive into town it was still convenient for us to get around and explore Huntsville. Thank you to our wonderful hosts Doug and Orla, we will definitely be back and recommend it to others! All the best, Lauren
Feb 6th We had a wonderful time. The winter experience was truly a memorable one. It's definitely something that we can cross off our list now. We took advantage of the Arrowhead pass and explored the park. We particularly enjoyed skating through the forest. Meeting Doug and Orla was a complete pleasure as well. They were so sweet and welcoming, it made the experience more special. We were pleased with the two nights and the urge of accomplishing something new was satisfied. Doug was generous enough to extend the third night to the next time we visit at which we were pleasantly surprised by. On our way home Emily and I discussed coming back. Hopefully in October to take advantage of the leaves changing.Thank you for everything and look forward to booking more adventures with you, Carla
Oct 10th Hi Doug and Orla: Stephanie and I had an absolutely amazing time at the yurt. We could not have imagined a better location and trip over all. As far as feedback I can honestly say I would not change a single thing.
August 10th We had a fabulous time. Orla and Doug were exceptional hosts and we were so happy that they agreed to roll with the punches in spite of not knowing we were arriving. We will definitely be adding Lakeside Yurt & Studio to our ongoing getaway plans. Cheers, Raye, Craig and Lola (the dog)

| What a fantastic location. 15 mins from Huntsville on a secluded parcel of land (with your own private lake). You have access to Yurt and cabin which are about 100 feet apart as well as gazebo. Yurt is large with own woodstove and queen bed. Ample supply of firewood available. Kitchen cabin is well stocked. No power in yurt or cabin other than lithium power bank which is great for powering lamp, coffee maker etc. fridge is propane powered. There is also outdoor heated shower too. Day pass to Algonquin provided. Access road down to Yurt is a bit steep. We had small SUV and it was fine. Doug will meet you on arrival and walk you through everything.
We loved having access to the gazebo area in the waterfront as well as a separate dock. This is definitely a place to unwind off the grid. Hope to be back again!

| We enjoyed a cozy, romantic weekend in the crisp winter wilderness. This Yurt is on Benson Lake, and the privacy is beyond refreshing.
On arrival, we found the paths around the Yurt and its outbuildings were cleared of snow and the furnace was already hot for us.
Doug & Orla are very good at what they do, we were blown away by the quality of the entire experience.
During our stay we enjoyed snowshoeing with the complimentary pairs provided, breaking trail about a kilometer along the shoreline; this hike would be difficult other times of the year due to dead fall and wetlands.
I recommend this location to anybody comfortable with casual camping, and looking to get out in the winter.

| Absolutely beautiful and very well equipped. We had an amazing time staying in the yurt but my favourite spot to sit was the gazebo right on the lake shore. We absolutely plan to go back in the future.

| We have decided to elope somewhere here in Canada and were looking for the perfect place. So we stumbled over this wonderful place. The pictures catched immediately our eye and after writing a few words with Doug and Orla we knew, this will be the perfect place for our perfect wedding. We cannot put into words how lucky we were to have found this yurt and to have gotten to know Orla and Doug. The communication before our arrival was just perfect, they answered all of our questions immediately and were even offering to help us with whatever we needed. On our arrival day (the day before our wedding) we found the place wonderfully and thoughtfully decorated with flowers from Orlas private garden. The area, the yurt, the cottage, the lake just the whole area is AMAZING and BREATHTAKING. Absolute, complete privacy, there is literally no one, we had the whole lake and everything around for ourselves. We were planning on going hiking but instead we spend all the time at the lake with swimming, kanooing, drinking coffee and watching the loons from the dock and enjoying the evening in front of the fire pit. Although it is very secluded, the town of Huntsville is very close. It is a very sweet town with lots to do and also great restaurants. Thank you Doug and Orla that you were having us, for being so uncomplicated, reliable and wonderful hosts and a big THANK YOU for letting us have the wedding of our dreams at your little piece of heaven.

| Dear Doug and Orla, this was our first time staying at a yurta and a wonderful experience it was!The setting, structure and vista over the lake are truly magnificant. It was such a delight to settle into the the generous and most comfortable bed, while watching the branches of the pine and hemlock sway high above the circular sky light in the yurta. The airtight wood heater is additionally a welcomed feature and must make winter stays suitably comfortable and comforting. The dining and recreational cabin, just a few meters down the path from the yurta is more than adequately equipted with bbq,an assortment of dish wear, utensils and work surface. How lovely it was after a days paddling, to sit and take a cooked meal and glass of wine with my life partner while watching the night close over the lake. It was with both pleasure in the stay and sadness in the leaving that we collected up our packs and slowly drove the enchanted road out to the highway. God and good fortune willing we shall return to this part of paradise that you folks have made so generously available for all to enjoy and cherish. Kindness regards
