If you are seeking restitution away from the pressures of everyday living, or enjoy "glamping" without the fuss, the Yurt experience is sure to revitalize and re-connect you back to nature at its best!

During late Spring, Summer and Fall the adjacent cabin compliments the yurt in giving you an additional screened-in porch overlooking the dock. They are both located within meters of each other and you will be assured full privacy on vast 11 acres of private property. Our guests are impressed with the vast 75 acre spring fed lake and waterfall just a few meters from the yurt. The lake is virtually undeveloped surrounded with crown land and private ownership with only one other small cabin on the entire lake. Note: the cabin portion is closed off during winter until Spring thaw.

During the cooler seasons, you will be kept snuggly warm even during the coldest of wintery nights inside Yurt's wool lined interior and our new high-functioning wood stove. Its large 17'x17' circumference is the perfect size for the perfect getaway!

A yurt is perfect way for vacationers who seek the simplicity of living the ultimate Algonquin experience. The thought of sitting around a campfire under a clear sky, gazing up at the stars and listening to the sounds of the night can pacify your minds and rejuvenate your soul!

This 100% Canadian made Yurt comes fully equipped with all necessary linens including freshly laundered towels, facecloths, and sheets for the queen size bed. We supply a solar powerpack to power small non grid devices such as the reading lamp, recharge a cell and operate a small coffee maker.

Dear Doug and Orla, this was our first time staying at a yurta and a wonderful experience it was!The setting, structure and vista over the lake are truly magnificant. It was such a delight to settle into the the generous and most comfortable bed, while watching the branches of the pine and hemlock sway high above the circular sky light in the yurta. The airtight wood heater is additionally a welcomed feature and must make winter stays suitably comfortable and comforting.
The dining and recreational cabin, just a few meters down the path from the yurta is more than adequately equipted with bbq,an assortment of dish wear, utensils and work surface.
How lovely it was after a days paddling, to sit and take a cooked meal and glass of wine with my life partner while watching the night close over the lake.
It was with both pleasure in the stay and sadness in the leaving that we collected up our packs and slowly drove the enchanted road out to the highway.
God and good fortune willing we shall return to this part of paradise that you folks have made so generously available for all to enjoy and cherish.
Kindness regards

My girlfriend took me here for my 40th birthday as I enjoy roughing it, her not at all so it was a best of both worlds, very private, the yurt is amazing inside, luxury sleeping quarters, the cabin is perfect to relax and bug free if you prefer to eat at the table or cook on the BBQ provided, also multiple spots to cook over a fire, great dock to have a morning coffee and to have a swim, listen to the loons early morning and at night, waterfall near the yurt to listen to as you sleep, amazing place, dog friendly, canoe and paddle boat included, Algonquin park pass and some cool books likely left behind to read on a rainy day and scrabble, will go back in a heartbeat, but 3 days was to little

Thank you Noel for taking the time to post such an detailed and uplifting review ! As a family of nature lovers, we find Lakeside Yurt is the perfect balance of peace & tranquility, so its fulfilling when we hear our guests are are captivated by the beauty and soothing sounds of our little retreat too! We enjoyed having you at Lakeside Yurt :) We look forward in seeing you again soon! Take care for now, Orla and Doug Irwin

I purchased a two night stay as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend and We couldn't have been more thrilled with the stay. The yurt is cozy and warm (thanks to a wonderful little woodstove). Doug and Orla were absolutely fabulous hosts. It was neat reading the journal entries of past visitors from around the globe. We loved the location (hello privacy!) and were treated to a fresh snow fall during our stay which made us feel like we were in a winter wonderland! The snowshoes and park passes were an added bonus! I would 100% recommend this yurt to anyone.

I have never wrote a review before, but had such an amazing weekend that I needed to share this with anyone who was skeptical about booking!
I booked a Yurt weekend get-a-way for my fiancés 30th birthday. I honestly had never been camping as an adult before and was a bit leery, as it was very out of my element. I had the best time at this Yurt. Doug & Orla are so kind, welcoming, and have truly thought of everything you'd need to have a relaxing weekend. Even finding my wallet in the snow and mailing it to me. The scenery is beautiful, we walked away with wonderful memories and gorgeous photos. I felt we we experienced so much in just 4 days. We had some beautiful weather, a rain day and snow; all in the same weekend! The way the scenery changed was just amazing. Our dog was so tired out from the weekend and all the running he got to do: he's still trying to catch up on his sleep! We most definitely will be back again. Thank you so much Doug and Orla for sharing this piece of paradise that you have. It's just magical. :)

Thank you Brie for your wonderful and detailed feedback! Your positive comments will certainly be helpful to others interested in experiencing Glamping for the very first time. Yes, we agree, nothing compares in seeing the spectrum of breathtaking scenery evolve from season to season. It truly is an amazing one-of-a-kind experience all year round! We are so delighted that you enjoyed your stay and would love for you both to be my guest again on your next Algonquin visit - Take care for now and look forward in seeing you and enthusiastic sidekick again very soon!

Doug, Just wanted to tell you that our stay at the yurt was amazing! You guys truly have a hidden gem. . I have done lots of back country camping in the past and enjoy the quiet, private nature of it. I would say that although you can drive to the yurt it mimics the same type of private and quietness of back country camping. The only reason why I wouldn't tell everyone I know about this place is so that there is some availability for when we want to come next! Although the weather was a little cold we were still able to get a few nice walks up the road and through the woods. We want to come back in the warmer weather so we can explore the lake in the Canoe. We got engaged on your dock in the snow storm and it was something we will always remember. Thank you again for an amazing stay. We will definitely be back next year! Mike and Alana

Hi Mike and Alana! A big congratulations on your engagement! You both reminded me of ourselves at your age with our three children. Orla and I took the odd weekend away for some piece and quiet . I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to meet Orla but maybe next time you will. Thank you very much for coming and we would love to have you up again. The lake is great for swimming. Maybe we should change it from Healing lake to Engagement Lake! Kindest regards, Doug and Orla
