This original stone cottage suite is suitable for 2 people only and is located on East Bay (Eagle Lake) approximately 10 km west of South River on paved roads, a 45 min. drive north of Huntsville and 45 minutes south of North Bay. (Approximately 3 hours north of Toronto). The nearby villages of Sundridge and South River have all the necessary conveniences (Foodland, LCBO, Beer Store, Home Hardware, gas stations and various eateries). It is close to Eagle Lake Golf Course, Eagle Lake Narrows Country Store and beach, Mikisew Provincial Park, Hockey Opportunity Camp, Coughlin's Riding Ranch, South River's Highlander Brewery, Copperhead Distillery, McLaren's Maple Syrup (in spring) and many cycling/walking trails (the Forgotten Trails). Arrowhead Provincial Park is 45 min. away and in winter has spectacular skating trails. Ski, snowshoeing and hiking trails are newly opened at Almaguin High School in South River. Sugar Dogs dog sledding is nearby. Algonquin Provincial Park is about 45 minutes away and OFSC Snowmobile trails are just down the road.

The stone cottage suite is tucked away on 350 feet of lake frontage on 2 acres of wooded property, well back from the road which is on a dead end.

At this piece of paradise, you will enjoy beautiful sunsets or a family of loons from the upper or lower decks overlooking several hundred feet of water frontage. Have an afternoon siesta in the screened porch or a refreshing beverage in the 'courtyard' of perennial flowers. Explore the many islands in the bay by canoe or kayak. Fish for bass in the paddleboat. In the evening, roast marshmallows at the fire pit by the water's edge or enjoy a fire in the courtyard. Swim in the quiet, clean bay with entry to sand bottom frontage. (A canoe, paddleboat, and 2 new lake kayaks are available for use, along with life jackets and paddles) Please note: There are approximately 30 stone steps down to the water from the upper deck. The cottage is about 65 feet from the water's edge. Some mobility is required.

My husband and I had a wonderful week at the stone cottage. It's charming and cozy, like a cottage should be, not modern or fussy. We were looking for some peace and quiet and found it; we especially enjoyed reading on the "day bed" in the screened porch room, overlooking the lake and surrounded by trees: you really can't ask for more. We also enjoyed the lake, swimming and kayaking, and went out for some day outings at the Algonquin Park, Huntsville, and Gravenhurst; not being from Ontario, we wanted to discover the region of Tom Thomson and Norman Bethune. So we got a mix of down time and discovery, which was perfect. As others have mentioned, Elizabeth is a perfect host, friendly and discreet, sensitive to her guests' needs. Thanks for everything, Elizabeth, it was great to meet you.

Absolutely loved our stay at the Stone Cottage. We were looking to unwind and relax after a busy couple months and were able to do just that. The weather was beautiful all week which made for great swimming and amazing sunsets. Elizabeth was an excellent host, she was very friendly and provided all the information we needed as well as providing us with the privacy and solitude we were looking for. Thanks Elizabeth!

Thank you so much Andrew! Summer took its time appearing but it arrived in all its glory for you! I'll be thinking of you both in October!

Another wonderful stay! Despite lousy weather, we had a great time in this quiet, peaceful cottage. The sunset views from the screened in porch were spectacular, and the days we could we enjoyed the peddle boat out on the lake. A perfect escape from city living...we are sure to be back. Thanks again Elizabeth!

I had the best time at the stone cottage! My husband and I absolutely loved it! The weather wasn't the best but we made it work. We will definitely be going back again soon!

Thank you, Marilyn!
You sure got a lot packed into the weekend.... pedalboating, fishing, biking!
Hope you will return soon!

My girlfriend and I visited the stone cottage for a quick weekend getaway and had an amazing time! Elizabeth is a wonderful host - she was able to offer suggestions for things to do, access to plenty of firewood and the snow shoes were a blast (and necessary) when we visited Mikisew Provincial Park (5-10 mins drive). The Stone Cottage is so nice and cozy - looking out over Eagle Lake with a nice fire is relaxing and really allows you to disconnect from the busy city. The Stone Cottage and Elizabeth's house do share a wall and back deck, but we felt as though we were all alone as Elizabeth respected our privacy. We are hopeful that we will be able to return in the future!
