Build your memories at a Legacy Retreat
Rideau Dreams has been a family retreat since 1975. Surrounded by a post and rail fence and privately nestled into a a forested meadow. It has inspired peace, tranquility, fun and creativity for many years. The owner is a Canadian musician who has a deep connection to preserving and sharing the legacy with the right renters. Whether friends or family, we are happy to provide an environment to build your lasting memories here. Completely renovated inside and out: All new in 2014
The cottage sits 20 ft above the lake on the side of the south-facing slope under summer shade of towering oak trees. In the offseason, you'll soak in the sun from the living room. The cottage exterior features new cedar siding and decks and two docks with great BBQ area overlooking the lake view. Inside there are two sun tunnels that highlight the rustic fieldstone fireplace, and the brand new maple shaker-style kitchen that comes with new appliances (including a dishwasher). The smell is fresh and clean with new red pine floors, paint and trim throughout. Three bedrooms are supported by one and a half baths. (A fourth bedroom and separate living area with shower and composting toilet is planned from the walk-out basement that is ready for radiant floor heating in winter. The tasteful renos and the antique accents retain a true heritage cottage feel. We expect you'll feel the warmth as you soak up the views both inside and out. Internet access is included in the weekly rate (Currently speed is 10mb/sec which is good for FacetTime, Netflix, Zoom, Skype etc.). We have worked hard to make it comfortable fun and creative, a place of inspiration and a place you, your loved ones, family and friends will come back to for respite over the years.

| My husband and I spent a week at this cottage and had a very relaxing time. We were there between August 10th and August 17th, 2020. The cottage is nestled among deciduous and evergreen trees on a big property along a private road. During our time there, we had perfect warm weather which allowed us to swim everyday from the dock. The dock is big enough to accommodate chairs and long chairs and gets sun and shade throughout the morning and afternoon. My husband also enjoyed a bit of catch and release right from the dock. As we are cyclists, we discovered a really nice ride along the North Shore Road which runs all the way to Westport (15 kms approx.) with very little traffic and is 10 minutes away from the cottage on the bike. The cottage itself had all the amenities except maybe for cable TV for those who like to watch. The WI-FI however, allows you to listen to your favorite music or attend a virtual Yoga practice while on the dock. We especially enjoyed the screened-in porch in the morning and at night where we observed a pair of Ospreys in nearby trees. A family of Loons could also be heard throughout the evening. The quietness of the surroundings of the cottage is perhaps one of the things we enjoyed the most. You can be at peace while vacationing at Rideau Dreams. Finally, we had a very pleasant experience with the owner who was very responsive immediately from the beginning. He was kind and attentive to our requests. Thanks again Larry!

| Great cottage in a great location, perfect for our family of four. We loved the dock(s), fire pit, screened in porch; the lake is amazing, close to Westport. Larry was great to deal with, very accommodating and responsive, we look forward to coming back in the future.

| Our host, the owner of Rideau Dreams, is the most gracious and involved owner I have worked with in the three years of renting properties in Canada. What you see and read on the web site of Rideau Dreams is what you can expect upon arrival at this cottage. No photo shopping. There were four adults and one child in our party. Plenty of room and everything was very clean. This was our third vacation trip to the Westport area and also our first cottage rental right on the Big Rideau Lake. By boat you are within twenty minutes of Portland (marina), thirty minutes of the docks at Westport and the locks at Newboro. The three docks and swim platform provide ample opportunity for swimming and great fishing. (We caught a 19 1/2 inch bass off the swim platform). I can not say enough about our great host and his cottage. We have researched hundreds of cottages in the area, rented three, and this is the only one that we look forward to renting again. Gary H.
