Spend quality time with friends and family in this newly constructed, 3 bedroom waterfront cottage located 10 minutes from Tobermory, at Eagle Point on the Lake Huron side of the Bruce Peninsula. Tobermory is the gateway to the Bruce Peninsula National Park and Fathom Five National Marine Park. The parks are world renown for incredible hiking along the Niagara Escarpment, water sports on the crystal clear and impossibly aquamarine waters of Georgian Bay and Lake Huron and wreck diving in the marine park.
The building has been crafted with attention to detail in masonry and wood with a cozy fireplace in the main living area. A unique center island divides the kitchen and living area and makes for a spectacular entertaining space. Enjoy the breathtaking views from the 2nd floor master suite and second bedroom and be lulled to sleep by the waves on the lake and the breeze passing through the cedars on the shore.
Bathrooms are conveniently located on both levels. Pine flooring in most areas, accentuated by ceramic and marble tile in the bathrooms. The cottage boasts modern touches such as granite countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms which fuse with rustic pine woodwork throughout. The 0.80 acre, southerly facing lot is well treed and extremely private. The aspect allows for all day sunshine on the shoreline and decking and provides spectacular views of both sunrise and sunset. Outdoor space includes a wraparound deck and the recent addition of a 350 square foot main deck and new hot tub. Star gazing, sunsets and Lake Huron views from the hot tub are unparalleled!
WINTER USERS: The cottage is fully insulated and heated via forced air for four season comfort. The hike to the Grotto to see the ice formations on Georgian Bay are not to be missed, similar ice formations accumulate in front of the cottage.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Kitchen and Dining Area:
Cooking will be a breeze in the well equipped kitchen. Highlights include cherry wood cabinetry, granite countertops and new stainless steel appliances (fridge, stove, microwave and dishwasher). A propane BBQ located on the wraparound veranda provides additional cooking options. The open concept kitchen and dining area ensures there is ample room for the chief's helpers in the kitchen. Off the kitchen is the dining area, here you will find a harvest table with seating for six and one of two large floor to ceiling windows where you can enjoy the view of Lake Huron during any meal. If extra space is needed for dining, there is also a breakfast bar with seating for two.
Living Area:
A unique center island constructed from local stone and topped with salvaged wood flooring from the former Elora Bowling Alley divides the kitchen and living area and makes for a spectacular entertaining space. The living area is furnished with two comfortable leather chairs and a couch, making it a great place to enjoy your morning coffee and the paper while taking in the view of Lake Huron from the second large floor to ceiling window. On those cooler evenings the wood stove provides a cozy atmosphere for family game night or just curling up with a good book or that special someone. The living area features a 32-inch HD flat screen TV with Blu-ray player, HD Bell Satellite and Apple TV for streaming content from Apple devices and renting movies via iTunes. High quality Klipsch speakers and an external Marantz amplifier provide excellent audio for movies, CDs or Bell radio stations.
Den and Bath:
From the living area there is a small office with a desk and lamp for those who need to check in with work while on holidays. The den features wired and wireless high-speed internet and telephone with free long distance within Canada. Wireless internet coverage extends throughout the cottage and over the exterior decking. Just off the office is a two-piece bathroom with a door that leads outside, a great feature if you have kids that need to take a quick break from playing to answer the call of nature. They can easily access the bathroom without having to go through the entire cottage.
Upper Storey Bedrooms and Bath:
The second level of the cottage features pine flooring throughout. The master bedroom features a king size bed and a large picture window overlooking the lake so you can fall asleep to the sounds of waves on the shore and the breeze rustling through the surrounding cedars. Two additional bedrooms and a four piece bath are found just down the hall. The second bedroom features a queen size bed and the same beautiful picturesque view of the lake as the master. The third bedroom is great for the kids with bunk beds, a double on the bottom and single on the top. A second 32-inch CRT TV is located in the 3rd bedroom with a Nintendo Wii gaming system and over a dozen games. This TV is also a great option for gaming or other entertainment systems brought from home.
Shoreline:
From the cottage, you walk past the sand box across a mixture of flat rock and rubble to the firepit accompanied by a 6 person picnic table for lakeside dining and marshmallow roasts. Past the firepit are minnow filled "tide" pools which are great attractions for children of all ages. The tide pools are a pleasant temperature as the shallow water is quickly warmed by the sun. Past the tide pools, the water drops off from 3 to 6 feet gradually, allowing for excellent swimming with water shoes.
