Welcome to Twin Pines cottage for a real cottage experience. Lovingly built in the 1950s, it has been modified throughout the years all the while retaining that rustic cottage feel. It is very well suited for family vacation or a couple's retreat. It is the kind of place that you will fall in love with and want to return to. You will find Twin Pines cottage on the shores of Lake St Peter nestled amongst the centenarian pines and mature birch trees. Situated 15 feet above the shoreline, with a westerly exposure, it is a welcoming sight after your long drive and it will be your cottage home for the next few days or weeks. Whether you are seeking a quiet and relaxing retreat or a family fun vacation, it is the place for you. Choose springtime for some quiet time and enjoy the awakening of the forest and spring flowers. Summer is the most popular time as the lake comes alive with happy cottagers here to enjoy all that the lake has to offer, hiking, swimming, boating, water skiing and fishing. Fall is also a favorite, still warm but quieter than the summer time. Let the fall colours spectacle enhance your senses as you take that early morning walk or relax with your coffee on the deck. Twin Pines Cottage features three bedrooms with two double beds and a bunk bed for the kids. Should you need more space or privacy, the bunkie has one double bed in a bedroom and one double bunk bed in the common area. There is one small, functional bathroom in the cottage that includes a shower. We can accommodate 8 people, but to ensure your comfort level we feel that there should be a maximum of 6 adults. We are perfectly suited for a 2 family getaway, say 4 adults and up to 4 children.
Bed and bath linens are not included, but they can be provided at an additional cost.
The cottage kitchen is modern with a large fridge, dishwasher, microwave and stove. It is stocked with dishes, pots and pans and should meet all your needs for your cooking pleasure as well as for cleaning up.
Our tap water comes from a new well and the water tests safe for drinking.
There are three outdoor seating areas to choose from on the property: a large dining table beside the barbecue as well as an adjoining picnic table if your group needs more space, a grouping of outdoor chairs circle a fire-pit when you want to finish off the evening with s'mores while cheering on a friendly game of horseshoes or sharing those famous ghost stories and finally down at the waterfront, on the dock or on the deck under the gazebo. This is where you will probably spend most of your time playing in the water on those hot summer days and it is where you will witness some of the most beautiful sunsets ever. There is ample space at the dock for two boats.
There are two kayaks, two canoes and a rowboat at your disposal as well as a variety of life jackets.
Lake St Peter is home to Lake St Peter Provincial Park where you can check out the beach or go hiking on a very pretty trail which leads to a look-out with a spectacular view of the lake. Back on the highway you will also find a General store, a hardware store and two cafes.
Algonquin Park, 30ish minutes north, is a wonderful destination for a day of hiking. You can also visit their Visitor Center, Logging Museum or Art Center. You are welcome to borrow our Ontario Parks Vehicle Day Pass which gives you free access for one vehicle to Lake St Peter and Algonquin and all other Ontario Provincial parks.
We are a 30-minute drive away from Bancroft or 45 minutes to Barry's Bay where you will find ample shopping for groceries or any personal items. The closest LCBO outlet is now in the general store in Lake St Peter. There are plenty of antique stores and art shops to visit in Maynooth (about 15 minutes away), featuring many works of art and crafts from local artists, clothing or pick up a souvenir as a fun reminder of your great summer foray into the wilderness.
As your hosts we will do our utmost to make your stay a most enjoyable one and will be pleased to help you with any problems or answer any inquiries you might have.

Reservations are considered secure when we receive payment. In the event that multiple parties are trying to secure the same reservation, the first payment received wins the reservation. We will refund all payments if we cannot secure your reservation. All cancellation requests must be made in writing. In the event of cancellation by a guest, or by the owner due to non-payment of the balance due, cancellation charges will be as follows: More than 8 weeks before arrival date: no cancellation charge (full refund); Between 2 and 8 weeks before arrival date: we keep 40% of rental amount; Less than 2 weeks before arrival date: we keep 90% of rental amount. If you do have to cancel, and we manage to rent the cottage during your reservation, we will refund you all of the money that we collect for renting during your cancelled reservation, up to the full amount that you paid. | We had a great week at Twin Pines! It is on a beautiful lake with great views and sunshine all day on the dock. Which is where we spent most of our time! The gazebo with the mini fridge is lovely. A great place to read and get in the shade. And the wifi reaches down to the dock which was super as we had to do a bit of work. A perfect remote office! The kitchen is well outfitted and even a dishwasher - a great perk since we are on vacation! We used the BBQ for most cooking though - very nice one!! The bathroom is adequate, beds comfy and living room was good. There is no tv, but we could have watched dvd's as there is a player (bring your own dvds) but we enjoyed a campfire most nights. We didn't use the bunky, but took a peek inside and it was quite large - it would do teens or extras in your family no problem. We loved the location too - hikes in Lake St. Peter Provincial Park and Algonquin is just 30 minutes away (don't forget to register for your day pass). The general store and gas station 6 minutes away had basics plus an LCBO outlet. Kim and Ed were available if we had questions but the cottage is also very private. We have already booked for next year!

| We just got back from our stay at Twin Pines Cottage! we were a group of 5 adults, 1 teenager. It was a very nice, cozy place. The water at first felt cool but you get used to it very quickly and it was weed free out to the end of the dock. Once you were out in deep water there was no seaweed that reaches up to you and rubs against your legs which was nice cause that always freaks me out LOL. It was nice there was watercraft that you could use like canoe, boat and kayak but we only used the boat. The bunkie was actually larger than we thought it was from the pictures so that was even nicer. In all the cottage was nice and Ed and Kim were great hosts and checked in halfway through the week to make sure that there wasn't anything we needed. It was nice there were some things that they supplied at the cottage so it was less stuff for us to have to think of bringing with us. We will definitely stay again at this cottage if we can!

| Great place for a family vacation with beautiful lakeside & forest views! The cottage was clean, bright & well equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable & relaxing stay. We enjoyed lots of swimming, kayaking, fishing off the dock & campfires in the fire pit at night! Kim & Ed are kind, thoughtful & attentive hosts - they checked in with us during the week, responded quickly to any questions & provided helpful information. Overall a wonderful family experience & we would love to book this cottage again! Thank you Kim & Ed!

| My husband and our 2 year old toddler stayed in this cottage for the weekend of June 19-21 and we had the most amazing time. Pictures really do not do justice. The entire property is very private and secluded for a wonderful getaway if you want to be in touch with nature and everything it has to offer. We celebrated our son's 2nd birthday here and it was absolutely beautiful. Please note if you are planning to bring a child here, you must be aware that you MUST supervise your kid at all times, as the cottage is on a hill and it maybe dangerous for a child on the loose. Anyhow, the property is quite nicely maintained - very nice touches; has a very "homely" feel to the entire place. We had a nice time using the canoe and kayak as well and went for a swim during the afternoons when the sun is nice and hot. We would most definitely recommend this place and we hope to go back again soon! The hosts, Ed and Kim were so very friendly and was easy to communicate with if we had any questions or concerns. Thank you both for letting us have a wonderful stay :)

| We, a group of six, had a lovely time relaxing at Twin Pines Cottage on Thanksgiving long weekend. Very nice place, everything as advertised! Warm and cozy cottage that felt like home. Kim and Ed, lovely and gracious hosts, they got everything daily necessities you need in the cottage. One pink sweet wine made by hosts even add more sweetness and happiness to our holiday's dinner. With a wonderful motorboat cruise experience on lake St. Peter, ED brought us unexpected pleasure and joy. Definitely, it was a great cottage experience. Thanks Kim and ED!
