| We stayed at Ian's place a week ago and I can't express with words how much I've been missing it since getting home! We had the best time!!! The cottage itself is in such a nice little community and is very well kept. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen had everything you could need, and the bathrooms were beautifully redone (I think recently because they seem brand new)!
The best part was the private deck/dock area. At first we weren't sure how it would be having to cross the small street to get to and from it, and this was quickly not even a factor. There was minimal traffic, anyone walking by was super friendly, and we really enjoyed our days down there and our evenings by the fire in the backyard.
I have to say that Ian and his wife are incredible hosts. From the second I reached out about booking the place, Ian was a pleasure! Very responsive and I even had a couple of questions while we were at the cottage that he promptly responded to. Wouldn't hesitate to ever rent this place again, we had a wonderful time! Thank you so so much!!!!!!!!!

| We spent a week here in August with our family of four (mom, dad and two kids aged 2 and 4). It was the perfect space for our family with so much to do close by (Bobcaygeon, Lindsay, Peterborough Zoo, etc). The house was relatively clean upon arrival and the kitchen was fully stocked with any cooking tools you might need. It was really nice that there were multiple sleeping options for the kids as well as two shower/ bath tubs. The bathrooms were beautifully done. We loved that the cottage had bedding, shower/ bath towels, beach towels, as well as a washer and dryer. The access to the dock was very close, just across the street and had a nice seating area as well as a big enough space for the kids to play. The one thing I would like to see next year (because we really hope to come back!!!) is a new fire proof mat on the dock. We had a few fires down there, and everything was fine but the fireproof mat was very worn out. We loved our stay and hope to be back soon!

| We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at North Star Lodge. The house is clean, comfortable, very well-equipped and inviting. The rooms were comfortable and well-furnished, and both the bathrooms and the kitchen had pretty well everything you might need. The backyard is private, with both sunny and shaded areas.
A real highlight for us was the lake-side deck which connects to the dock - it's quite private and includes a shaded 6-seat dining table plus a large area in the sun for lounging. The lake is very nice for swimming - warm but not weedy. The photos on the listing did not do justice to this deck/dock area - it was a wonderful surprise!
The property is on a village street so there were occasional cars going by, but even on the August long weekend (when we thought it might get a bit busy), most of the ?traffic? consisted of golf carts or kids on bikes. People use the road to get to & from their own properties but I would say traffic was minimal.
We had a great time and look forward to returning. Thanks for a wonderful stay, Ian & Bekki!

| I've never enjoyed my time away from the hustle and the bustle of the city more than my time at this cottage.
We spent a full week here and highly recommend it to all of our friends. We visited as 2 families, 4 adults and 3 kids in total. The rooms were huge and there was enough space for privacy. The hot tub was exactly what we needed to relax from a day of fun in the sun. There was lots to do on property and off. When it rained we had fun activities inside and it really helped having access to WiFi and steaming services but we didn't need them for long cus the sun was shining almost the whole time.
I have no complaints and can't wait to go back SOON. It's definitely a home away from home. My daughter took her first steps here and so it has a special place in my heart.
Again, HIGHLY recommend. Book this cottage as soon as you see an opening.

| We stayed in July-21 but this cottage is way different than what you see in the pictures. Pictures are carefully taken and purposely hide the negative details. There is nothing to say positive about his except working hot tub.
Access to water is across the road and road with reasonable traffic. There is just good enough deck at water but no privacy as nearby deck. To access the deck, there is no proper steps and uneven slop, be careful at night time. Water is not so deep but have broken cement blocks and other debris. There is creepy/dirty shed in driveway and old rusty/ dirty trailer in back yard. Fence is broken and not feel safe to use backyard. Wood deck in yard is so dirty and patio furniture is useless (dirty and not in shape to use them). Hot tub is plus but have to be careful not to hit the light when open the tub cover.
Inside: Kitchen is so old and no sealant filled up at spaces around the counter top. Lots of bugs and insects. One washroom is right beside dinning table and that washroom did not lock during our stay. All floor is uneven and lots of tripping hazard. Although cottage charge for cleaning fees, we found chips and cereal in sofas and under. There are so many pots and pans but all old and dirty and we end up using our own. There are enough kitchen cabinets but all filled up with unnecessary things.
Single beds were so wobble and kids could not sleep. Upstair bathroom window does not have privacy and next cottagers can see.

Owner response: Thanks for sharing your feedback Jayesh. We're sorry your experience didn't match your expectations, but we really appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention. Your feedback helps us do better. To ensure our guests enjoy their stay we have privacy fencing around the dock area. We have added more lighting on the steps to the water as well as built a new dock. For guests with small children we recommend the public sand beach next door. The shed and storage container are for supplies to maintain the property and are not to be used by guests. We have taken the rest of your feedback and will continue to improve the property. We urge our guests to inform us of any issues that may occur during their stay as we have maintenance and housekeeping close by and can address any issues promptly. | |
