We found the cottage beautifully designed and equipped for comfort. With the windows open, there were such lovely breezes off the water, and the cottage cooled down so pleasantly at night for sleeping. We loved being on Mud Bay, as it was quiet with extremely little boat traffic. The views over the water were lovely, especially the sunsets! We enjoyed exploring by canoe the bay and into the bigger part of the lake ? thankfully, the winds were quite light all week. The varied bird species in the area were lots of fun to spot ? to name just a few, we saw bald eagles, ospreys, loons (with chick!), wood ducks, merlins, pileated woodpeckers, etc. We were delighted that the bug levels were quite low, even into the evening, and the big screened room was so relaxing to sit in and not worry about any bugs at all. While we couldn't swim right off the dock, we liked looking into the water to see fish - there were nice swimming spots to go to easily by canoe. We'd rent here again, for sure!

Our group of 6 had a great time at the cottage. Owners very kindly adapted at last minute to our arrival date and made us feel very welcome. Cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Clean and well equipped, neighbors not too near. Gazebo was a welcome addition to meal times. Plenty of smaller fish to be caught at the dock although a little weedy. We would recommend this cottage to anyone.

We arrived Friday evening and the cottage was everything we expected. 3 woman went away for a fishing weekend. We were not prepared for the amount of weeds in the bay :) this did not stop us from enjoying a great weekend. Thank you for sharing :)

We had an absolutely fantastic time at this cabin. Everything we could possibly need (and then some!) . The kayaks and canoes are easy to launch and in good shape. The surrounding area is quite peaceful and good for kayak/canoeing. There is a dock along the shore with an easy area to get in and out of water craft. We did not use the row boat as the kids had plenty of great fishing right from the dock. The setting is gorgeous, the neighbors are not too near, the peninsula is very quiet. Both bedrooms are small but the open living room/dining room/kitchen area are spacious. The screen house provides great space to get out of the sun and relax. There are ample chairs outside for the fire pit area, and on both decks. One deck is closer to the water yet has great shade. Rudy and Jane were quick in responding and very helpful. We would be happy to come back and stay again should we be in this area of Canada again.

We had a wonderful experience at the Charleston Lake Cottage Retreat. The place is beautiful and peaceful. Great for fishing. there are one row boat, 4 kayaks and 2 canoes. 10 minutes drive takes you to the Provincial park with many hikes and more fishing. Pet friendly. There is a netted gazebo the we and the children loved having our meals in, protected by the mosquitoes. The hosts, Rudy and Jane, are very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be coming back soon.
