Nestled in scenic woods directly on Minnicock Lake in Haliburton, On, Hummingbird Haven is ideal for those seeking retreat and enjoyment in a private and tranquil setting. It is approximately a 15 minute drive to the Town of Haliburton. Minnicock Lake is a lovely, spring-fed, clean lake with a natural shoreline. A lake covenant does not allow gas-powered water craft larger than 6 horsepower, thus the lake remains quiet and unpolluted. It is ideal for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, sailing or paddle-boarding. Also has great fishing, right off the dock!! The cottage features a cathedral ceiling and wall-to-wall windows, providing an open, airy ambiance and magnificent views. | We just spent a lovely Thanksgiving weekend with my brother and his wife. Cannot say enough good things. Very clean and so comfortable with amazing views. None of us wanted the leave this slice of heaven. Will be back for sure

| What a fabulous retreat! We stayed Sept.21-28, with another couple on the weekend, and were thoroughly pleased with the cottage in terms of location, view, and all the accoutrements both inside and out. Too late in the year for hummingbirds, we did see pre-snow chickadees, grouse, wild turkeys, and a boss blue jay. Lucky enough to catch the leaves at their peak of colour, but that lake is COLD! But the cottage is warm and friendly, with a nice fireplace and south-facing deck. All the mod-cons in the kitchen, and an impressive DVD and board game collection. We will be joyful to return next year!

| We celebrated our anniversary at Hummingbird Haven and it couldn't have gone better. Minnicock Lake is so quiet and peaceful, it felt like we had it to ourselves. Did lots of fishing, kayaking, canoeing during the days and sat by the fire pit during the evenings. Having firewood provided was great since the nights were cool. Looking at the stars on the dock was also amazing and not something you can see in the city. The cottage offers everything you need for a quiet and relaxing stay. We will definitely be back in the near future!

| The cottage itself was magnificent ...immaculate/so well equipped/very cozy/lovely welcoming gift from you. Great location. Into Haliburton in 15 minutes. Fabulous firepit. Provision of kayaks wonderful .I would have rated your cottage as excellent but for the swimming. Feel you should inform prospective renters that the water entry is treacherous with big slippery boulders that extend outwards for approx 12 feet. No diving off the dock and very cautious wading in to navigate around boulders. I am reluctant to say anything negative about your awesome cottage but feel for safety of future renters the necessity to do so. Extending your dock outwards beyond the boulders might remediate this issue. Would have rented your cottage again in a heartbeat but for the swimming situation. Judi and Doug Magee

Owner response: Dear Judi and Doug Thank you for your complimentary note about our cottage. We are sorry that you had difficulty swimming in the lake. You are the first of many, many visitors to have any concerns. Before confirming your booking, we responded to your questions and shared with you that: -access to the lake is from the dock -there are dock stairs leading into the lake -this access would not be suitable for a 2 year old to handle independently Our lake, like most lakes in Ontario has large rocks in it that accumulate slippery sediment on them. We installed a ladder at the end of the dock, where the water is over 5 feet deep, to facilitate entry and exit from the lake. We will be replacing part of the dock next year, so we will look at extending it further into the lake. Hopefully, this would alleviate any of your concerns, if you consider staying with us again, which we would most welcome. | |

| We had a great time! The views are spectacular as well as the cottage. It is equipped with everything you need. The lake is so clean and warm! We had lots of fun swimming, fishing, canoeing and watching the turtle. We will be back again!
