Beat the rush for 2023 - Secure your booking today! ____________ Welcome to The Wilson Family Cottage on Lower Buckhorn Lake in the beautiful Kawarthas! This traditional family cottage lives like a resort compound with multiple unique and individual indoor and outdoor living areas. Enjoy the natural landscape of pine trees and exposed Canadian shield as you relax with family and friends. The cottage is situated on Lower Buckhorn Lake at the mouth of the Deer Bay river. The gentle flow of the river provides for great fishing right off the dock! Explore the Trent Severn Waterway and the Kawartha Lakes with access to hundreds of kilometres of pristine boating, world-class fishing, and epic canoe and kayaking. The cottage has parking for six - driveway, roadside, and overflow across the road. It's hidden from the road and is accessed via a staircase over a large section of the exposed Canadian shield. It boasts a two-bedroom main cottage with two bunkies. The main cottage has a beautifully renovated modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances, including a microwave and full dishwasher. The living room/ dining room has indoor dining and a stocked digital entertainment system with hundreds of movies and TV shows, a 46" flat-screen TV, speakers with a record player and an audio/headphone connection - Bring your own vinyl!
Both bedrooms have queen beds and large closets. The bathroom has a spacious stand-up shower. The cottage has lake-fed UV-treated drinkable water and is on a septic system. The system works wonderfully, but as with any cottage water system, it is fragile and must be treated with respect.
Arguably, one of the highlights of the property is the Great Kawartha Room - a 310-square-foot screened room with a cathedral ceiling that is attached to the main cottage. The Great Room provides an incredible vista of the surrounding property and gives the illusion of being high up in a tree fort. It can provide shelter from the extreme elements while allowing in the subtle ones. Depending on the time of day, it provides a shady oasis or a sun-soaked evening dining space. The massive ten-seat harvest table was handmade by our family, and like many great tables, it is the premier meeting place for quality time together.
The upper bunkie is perfect for kids and teenagers as it has two single beds, a DVD player, PS3 and Nintendo 64. The lower bunkie is romantically situated on the dock and is equipped with a double bed and windows that overlook the water. Both bunkies have hydro and space heaters.
Relax dockside and soak in the sun! Enjoy fresh, deep water swimming & fishing. Dock your own canoes, kayaks or small watercraft.
Enjoy the upper deck and patio set that overlooks the water and have an evening campfire in the built-in pit!
Explore the local area and discover some of the most beautiful parts of Ontario. Hiking, biking, caves, golf, tourist attractions, antiques and galleries dominate the Kawartha region! Everything is truly at your fingertips for an amazing vacation!

| Simply amazing! My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and we plan to stay again. My grandparents built a cottage just steps from this property, my mother and I both grew up with Lower Buckhorn Lake being our second home. Everything about this cottage/property screamed Kawartha Lakes, the sound of the rapids just around the corner were very relaxing, and having canoe and kayak access to the lake from a private dock is worth its weight in gold. I was very impressed with the layout of everything, there seems to be so much there, yet still so much room. The Wilson's family cottage is definitely worth checking out!

| We stayed with another family - seven of us total - and we were all perfectly comfortable and content! There are so many different places to be that no one was ever in each other's way; we were all able to do what we liked either together or apart. Having the bunkies was a blessing - especially for the kids. Everyone just loved the amazing screened in porch. Watercraft (kayaks and canoes) were in good shape and well used. There were nice little touches that we all enjoyed - from a variety of games to a well stocked library to clever decor (the Wilsons in our group especially loved it!), we honestly can't find fault with the place, and would definitely love to plan a return. Josh was an attentive host and was very swift and clear with communication. Thanks so much, Josh, for a memorable vacation that was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

| My family and relatives had an amazing stay! The cottage was spectacular; the steps leading from the lot to the cottage, the fireplace, outdoor dining area, swing, bunnies and my absolute favourite- the dock. I spent a lot of time kayaking and was able to explore the lake. I also really got to enjoy seeing the fall colors from the kayak and while driving. It was just want I needed to relax.
My family and relatives had a great time together in the cottage; we enjoyed playing board games and we were in the kitchen a lot. I just wish that there was a rolling pin for making pasta, but everything else was great.
The township is also worth mentioning; burleigh falls was spectacular and I My family and I enjoyed talking to the locals. I felt so welcomed.
Above all, It was a great weekend vacation that my family really appreciated. Thank you Josh!

| One of the best vacations we have had in Canada. We spent 4 days on this gorgeous property at the start of fall 2021. We are a family of 3 and also have 2 retrievers, we visited the Wilson Family cottage with my parents. We are all nature lovers and were looking for a place which will give us access to the lake and a feeling of living in the woods- Wilson Family Cottage turned out to be just perfect! The location is beautiful and the neighborhood is equally amazing.
Beautiful rustic property nestled between huge trees, ample shade and built on 3 levels with beautiful stairs down to the lake. There were 5 canoes/kayaks on the property which we made ample use of for watching breathtaking sunsets on the lake- one of the high points of our vacation.
The kitchen has all the amenities one can think of, the beds are very comfortable and the best part of the house is the sun room which also has a beautiful communal table where we had all our meals. We highly recommend the cabin just by the water- waking up to the gorgeous view of the lake was my favorite part of the stay
Josh was great as a host- prompt in replying to our emails and texts and the whole experience was very smooth and pleasant. Needless to say, we will be returning to this place and making many more memories! Many thanks to Josh !

| Scenic place to spend a relaxing week. The cottage is clean, bright and well stocked. The screened in sunroom was a wonderful, big area to eat meals, relax and play games. We enjoyed using the watercrafts provided and relaxing on the dock. Kayaks are very comfortable for fishing out on the lake. The cottage is located 15 minutes away from Sandy Lake Beach and a 10 minute drive to a lazy river tubing area on the Mississauga River which was enjoyed by the whole family. Thanks for sharing your Kawartha cottage with us. You were always pleasant to deal with and quick to respond to any questions.
