BOOK NOW to secure your spring or fall getaway! Don't miss the Kawartha leaves this year, book your fall weekend today.

Welcome to The Wilson Family Cottage on Lower Buckhorn Lake, in the beautiful Kawarthas! This traditional family cottage lives like a resort compound with multiple unique and individual indoor and outdoor living areas. Enjoy the natural landscape of pine trees and exposed Canadian shield as you relax with family and friends.

The cottage is situated on Lower Buckhorn Lake at the mouth of Deer Bay river. The gentle flow of the river provides for great fishing right off the dock! Explore the Trent Severn Waterway and the Kawartha Lakes with access to hundreds of kilometers of pristine boating, world class fishing, and epic canoe and kayaking.

The cottage has parking for six - driveway, roadside, and overflow across the road. It's hidden from the road and is accessed via a staircase over a large section of exposed Canadian shield. It boasts a two bedroom main cottage with two bunkies.

The main cottage has a beautifully renovated and modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances including microwave and full dishwasher. The livingroom/diningroom has indoor dining as well as a stocked digital entertainment system with hundreds of movies and TV shows, a 46" flat screen TV, a Bose Sounddock (Original iPod dock connection or aux a/v cord), and a record player - new in 2018! Bring your vinyl!!! :)

Both bedrooms have queen beds and large closets. The bathroom has a spacious stand-up shower. The cottage has lake fed UV treated drinkable water and is on a septic system. The system works wonderfully, but as with any cottage water system, it is fragile and must be treated with respect.

We had a great time at the Wilson Family Cottage. All three and 1/2 generations (one on the way)
had space to be together and apart if they so wished. The weather cooperated with us for the most part, and we loved exploring the lake. The cottage was clean and well equipped. I love the soap dispenser in the shower. Both the swimming and fishing were great right off the dock.
Thank you Josh !

So glad you and your family had a great time! I'm heading up for a few weeks on Sunday and I can't wait!

Hope to see you again - all the best!

Josh

Our family of six (ages 8-36) just spent a week at the Wilson Family Cottage. We were looking to get away and spend time together being outside and away from our usual routines. We played loads of games in the screened room, spent many nighttime hours by the fire pit, daytime hours were spent on the dock or in the lake. Kids caught tons of fish right off the dock! The neighbours are all very friendly as well.

A couple times I messaged Josh to ask quick questions and he was readily available to answer which was appreciated. We are grateful for our week together and would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone looking to get away and relax.

Thanks Josh!
Taylor, Whitney, & kids

Taylor,

I'm so glad you and your crew enjoyed your stay at the cottage! It sounds like you got in a little bit of everything! :)

Enjoy the rest of your summer,

Josh

Just finished our annual week at the cottage ? 2 families, 8 people with age range from 12 to 71. We had a great week at the Wilson cottage. The big boys (17-21) loved the bunkies. Good swimming is a must for us and we weren't disappointed. A few years back, we stayed just around the corner off Fire Route 13, paid more and the swimming just didn't cut it. I've been renting from Cottages in Canada for a number of years and have never been mislead, the process is easy and the cottage owners are true professionals ? Josh is no different. While we didn't have the best weather, we always found something to entertain us, whether it was watching some old movies or playing Life or just reading in a great-screened room. Thank you Josh for your hospitality and allowing us to spend time at your cottage.

Tracy,

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the cottage and the swimming! I'm itching to spend a few weeks there myself this September! Sorry you didn't have the best weather :(

Hope to see you and your group again!

Josh

Great location! Private, clean water, lots of different places to sit and enjoy the peaceful setting. Canoe an kayaks are great to venture out to the lake and enjoy the sunset.

Josh is very responsive and accommodating.

Glad you had a good time, Franca! :)

Kayaking around the Wolf Island Provincial Park area is unreal! We even have a Bald Eagle nesting this year!

Josh

Our weekend stay at the Wilson Family Cottage was just what we needed.

The cottage was clean, comfortable and had all the necessities required, with nothing missing. The screened in sunroom was a great room to relax, read the paper, play games, eat and enjoying the lake view.

The kids enjoyed sleeping in the Bunkie, playing video games and kayaking on the beautiful lake.

We were lucky to view a nice fireworks display in the distance while enjoying an evening around the fire pit.

Highly recommend this cottage and will try to return.

Thank you very much Josh!

Carole,

I'm so glad you enjoyed the cottage! I actually just got jealous reading your description of The Great Kawartha Room! I can't wait to get up there again, myself!

Have a great summer and see you again soon,
