This newly renovated, 2500 sq.ft. cottage is located on Top Lake within a half hour drive of Chapleau. It features four bedrooms, one and a half bathrooms, huge living - dining great room with a massive fireplace. Big windows give lots of light and a great view of the lake. There is a sunny games room with a day bed for relaxing. The cottage is on 2.5 acres of land and there is plenty of parking area.

There is a wood fired log sauna by the lake and two docks. A canoe, paddle boat and row boat are included and there is a boat launch on the property if you want to bring your own boat.

Top Lake is surrounded by many lakes, rivers and logging roads for exploring by ATV or hiking. This area is well known for excellent fishing (walleye, pike, whitefish, bass, trout) and hunting (moose, bear, grouse). Blueberry and raspberry picking varies from year to year, but it is usually very good. The Chapleau Crown Game Reserve (world's largest) is just north of Chapleau for day excursions and access to Missinabi Provincial Park.

Cell phone service in the area is weak and only available for Rogers (and their affiliates) customers. The cottage has a cell phone booster and Rogers type phones will work. There is no land line to the cottage. A television with DVD player is in the living room. This remote location does not have any over-the-air reception. The small stereo player can be used to play your music from a variety of sources. Radio reception is poor.

The kitchen is well equipped with electric range, microwave and refrigerator. An outdoor BBQ grill is also provided. Cook ware, dishes and cutlery are provided. Basic spices are stocked, but you must bring your own food and drink. The nearest stores are in Chapleau. The tap water is from the lake at this time and should not be used for drinking.

I found this cottage rental on line and contacted the owner. He was very quick and everything was so easy with him.
We had the stay and he came around to give us a tour and answer any questions we had. He also came during the stay to check up on us which I found very helpful.
The property is exactly as described and our group had a wonderful time during our stay. We had some excitement with an unwanted visitor but it only enhanced our stay.
I would highly recommend this as it is good quality spot. I really enjoyed the no internet and the chance of us all getting a total reboot in our lives.
I am already looking at booking our stay for next year.

After a crazy summer of cancelling trips and family gatherings. We decided to get away from it all and rent this place. Unfortunately our trip took a turn when our boat motor broke on the way up. Our intentions were to fish the lakes nearby. But instead we did some road trips to;
- game reserve
- Missinaibi
- the shoals
- pothole nature reserve etc.

Rick was a very nice man, on arrival he gave us a tour... then he left. He could tell we had a long trip up (14 hrs) and new we needed some rest. As far as the cabin itself ... the fire place was AWESOME! The kitchen had everything we needed + bbq was a bonus. The sauna outback worked just fine too! Overall we had a very relaxing trip, just what we were looking for. We would definitely rent this place again, considering the great price !

If you like to explore nature/adventures ... even better if you have working boat or an ATV ! Also we didn't see anyone else the whole time we were there !
