The Cottage Big Straggle Lake offers year-round fishing, great swimming, and we have a rowboat and two pedal boats that you may use to explore the lake, several islands, and even a hidden passageway to Little Straggle Lake. Our dock is large enough for sunning yourself on hot days or just hanging out with friends on the chairs and picnic table. There is a fire pit overlooking the lake with plenty of seating to host your party (and firewood at the ready), and a grassy area beside the cottage on which lawn games can be enjoyed. We have a full size kitchen with a double sink, microwave, stove/ oven, full-sized fridge, and BBQ for you to enjoy. At your disposal are many other personal appliances such as a coffee maker, toaster, Actifry (alternative to deep-fryer), George Foreman grill, and blender. There is plenty of storage space for whatever you bring up as well. The living room has a widescreen TV, Satellite television, DVD player, and VCR. There is a small TV, DVD player, and VCR in the first bedroom (the one with four bunk beds). We have lots of VHS tapes and a few DVDs to watch, books to read, and games to play, should you find yourself stuck inside on a rainy day or need something to do in the evening. In the living room, there is also a wood-burning stove to which you may curl up to after you build yourself a fire in the evening.
The following are some tips for enjoying our cottage:
Linens & Towels - Please bring your own linens (or sleeping bags) & towels. Supplied for you at the cottage are pillows, comforters, duvets & duvet covers, extra blankets, and pillow & mattress protectors.
Essentials - You will need to bring your own essentials (soap, shampoo & conditioner, bug spray, sunscreen, etc?), but don't worry...the toilet paper is on us!
Internet - We now have free unlimited high speed wifi.
Phone Service - There is no 'landline' phone service at the cottage. There is minimal cellular service in Harcourt Park, but we have installed a cellular phone booster in the living room that can allow you to access your own cellular carriers' signal for voice, text, and data communications. As a backup in an emergency situation, there is a payphone only 300 meters away, at the nearest private road intersection.
Water - Drinking water is available from the community well at the Harcourt Park Community Centre (3 min drive down the road). This well is maintained by Harcourt Park and is tested regularly to ensure that it is safe for drinking. Supplied for you are 4 large containers for storing drinking water at the cottage.
Boats - We have 5 boats for you to enjoy (2 kayaks, 2 peddle boats, and one row boat). There are no outside boats allowed in Harcourt Park to prevent the introduction of non-native and invasive species. You may bring your own small non-powered personal watercraft (kayak, canoe, etc...) as they are easy to clean before they enter the lake, but powered personal watercrafts (jet skis) are not allowed.

| This was our second summer there and now our family tradition. Love the cabin, the view, the private dock and boats. Perfect for a relaxing week of floating, swimming, fishing, kayaking, and having campfires (if no ban in place). The stars are gorgeous at night. The cabin has everything you need and is comfortable and clean.

| This was our 2nd stay at Hazenberg Hideaway. It is clear Darryl and Andrea put a lot of thought and care into this cottage. They provide just about anything you can think of and need. The classic Nintendo is always a blast and the VHS tapes are a nice throwback too. There are chipmunks and sometimes blue jays that are very friendly and will visit daily. Very clean and beautiful cottage.
The kayaks and other boats provided are so much fun. Very large lake to use them on as well. They have a good fire pit too.
You won't find anything this good for the price. Highly recommend this cottage and will be back again for sure.

| One of the best vacations we've taken! Thank you once again Hazenberg Family!
My Girlfriend and I, wanted beautiful and quiet place to get away from work and the city. The Hazenberg Hideaway was exactly what we needed.
This comfy lttle place is nestled in a cozy corner of a gorgeous, clear lake, surrounded by wilderness. The property is a great size. So even though the lake has many cottages and docks, the few boaters paddleboarders and kayakers, couldnt stop us from feeling like we had the lake to ourselves.
We had daily visits from friendly Bluejays, chimpmunks, and hummingbirds, and saw many more creatures on the lake and trails that run throughout the park. The owls, loons and frogs around the lake made for a perfect nightly soundtrack, our whole stay too.
I probably caught about 100 fish myself during our week here, and my girlfriend even caught her first fish. Kids would have a blast catching bass from the dock and amature anglers would even find some monsters around the lake, with a partner and a rowboat.
The cottage has everything, inside and out. It has all you'd need to prepare, cook and eat. Even if you brought enough people to fill the 8 beds. We thought the lake water taps might provide a challenge, but to our pleasant surprise the community center water is delicious and 3 minutes from the cottage.
Bring some good food and drink, some good company, and this lovely place, and its amazing hosts will take care of the rest.

| This was our first stay at the Hazenberg Hideaway and we couldn't have asked for a better week away!
The cottage was clean and came equipped with everything you could possibly need (kitchen appliances, board games, movies/satellite tv, non-motorized boats). We had a full day of rain mid-week and occupied ourselves indoors watching DVDs (their collection was huge!) We also introduced our kids (ages 6 & 10) to their old school Nintendo system which also came equipped with lots of games.
Our kids maintain that the best part of the cottage was the fishing...they caught over 50 fish during the week (we are a fishing family so we had our own gear/tackle).
The cottage came with a number of non-motorized boats and the shed was equipped with pool noodles, lifejackets, etc. Our kids had a great time playing on the very large floating/swimming mat in the lake.
We had 7 people in our group ages ranging from 6-82 and everyone agreed this cottage was amazing :)
We had campfires each night and there was a huge supply of firewood for us to use.
It was a such a great experience renting from Darryl & Andrea and would 100% recommend their lovely cottage on Straggle Lake!

| We absolutely loved our time at Darryl's delightful and well-equipped cottage. Great swimming with shallow water entry off the dock, as well as a floating dock out in deeper water. The kitchen has everything needed for cooking, even for a larger group. The main beds are only double size, but nice and comfortable. We used to own a cottage in Harcourt Park, so we really enjoyed hiking all the nearby trails again and are already asking to book for next year! Darryl is a super-well-organized and conscientious host and we appreciated all the clear information and suggestions. Thanks for having us!
