The cottage fronts onto a beautiful clean sandy beach with gradual entry of hard packed sand, it remains shallow for over 120ft. The lake is pristine. Perfect for little ones! Sun and shade available all day long and stunning sunsets over the lake. BBQ and dine on the cottage attached lakeside deck just a few feet from the beach. No break neck stairs or cliffs here, the lot is level from front to back. The local landscape is both rugged Canadian Shield and the beautiful hills of the Madawaska Highlands. The 4.5 mile long lake offers Lake Trout, Bass and Northern Pike...White Fish and Perch as well. Excellent ice fishing as well.

Inside, the cottage is beautifully finished in pine from floor to ceiling. All high end windows, doors and fixtures; this was built as a home. The main floor features a mud room, kitchen, dining area, living room and a large bedroom (queen bed) with a full bathroom next door featuring a large tiled walk in shower. Very accessible. Upstairs there are 2 more bedrooms, a large bedroom (2 X double beds) and a master bedroom (queen bed) that overlooks the beach and lake. There is a second full bathroom as well on this floor featuring a shower and full size bathtub.

Available as a rental option, there is a bunkie 50' from the cottage featuring a single bed and a double\single bunk bed combination. In the bunkie there is power, a TV and DVD. See Rental Rates for details.

This was our third stay at this cottage, which speaks to how much we enjoy it! Our first time renting in the winter and we had a blast. Cleared an ice rink on the lake, had the fire pit going and did some snowshoeing too. Cottage is warm and cozy and a lovely spot to watch the snow fall. Highly recommend.

We spent Thanksgiving weekend at Kathy and Martin's cottage and it was quite an oasis. As others have mentioned, the photos don't quite do it justice. The view is spectacular and the recurring comment between everyone that weekend was how they couldn't get enough of it. Most mornings, we woke up in the dark and took their great quality kayaks out to watch the sunrise over the hills. We've seen resident beavers on our adventures, with lots of loons late into October to complete your relaxing cottage soundscape. There's excellent hiking to do in the area during the day and the cute town of Maynooth is not far to get your fix of local artisan studios, antique shops, and an extra supply of firewood.

The cottage itself is quite luxurious. Comfortable beds, fresh, clean amenities, fully stocked kitchen, and ample views from most rooms in the space. The beach would be wonderful for swimming in the summer months and created a smooth launch for our paddles. Having a fire pit on the beach was a treat as the stargazing in the area is spectacular. We were able to see the milky way on clear nights. Most of us went to bed early, so our one resident night owl was entertained by a great selection of Netflix movies available on their impressive entertainment system. Martin and Kathy are a dream to communicate with, both are responsive and quick to answer questions. Would recommend this space in a heartbeat.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Papineau Lake Cottage this fall. Nestled down a dirt road, amongst pine trees, the location is quiet, and serene and was perfect for our ten-month old daughter. With the beach steps away from the back door, she loved eating mouthfuls of sand, and dipping her toes into the shallow waters.

The inside of the cottage is as pictured, only better. Hardwood floors throughout, spacious bedrooms, a great dinning room table for board games, and rounds of backgammon. Plus, beautiful views for morning crosswords and coffee. For those rainy days (which we had a few), the cottage offers a fully integrated smart tv, a cozy couch and fire place for those colder days.

Far from rustic, the cottage offers good water pressure in the shower, a nest thermostat, netflix, good wifi, drinkable water, and nice napoleon grill.

Communication with Martin is easy, and responsive - very professional.

A few tips: for the foodies, the kitchen is well appointed with everything you could ask for (good knives, whisks, etc.), no need to bring half the items my wife and I packed! Fishing is good across the lake, near the rocky cliffs, a bit of paddle but well worth it.

Looking forward to next summer!

Best cottage experience ive ever had. Not only was the cottage beautiful but the owners are very easy to deal with. Family had a blast with our own private beach for the week. cottage was spacious and very clean with a beautiful deck overlooking the lake. Martin is about as layed back and easy to deal with as they come if you have any questions before or during your stay hes very prompt and informative. He even found me a guy to rent a boat off half way thru the week so i could go fishing. Definitely a week to remember, thanks Martin.

Had a fantastic stay! Cottage is lovely inside and outfitted with everything you need. It has a beautiful beach front and shallow entry, perfect for little ones or playing games. Owner was great at answering any questions or concerns! We'll be back.
