NOTES A deposit and a copy of valid ID (aged 30+) is required to secure your reservation. Once you have returned your contract, you will be able to pay the security deposit, as well as pay the remaining balance in full. At the end of your stay, the property and surrounding premises are expected to remain in its original condition. Failure to comply to terms and conditions, or incurred damages can result in a deduction or entire forfeit of the security deposit, pending property assessment. Card payments are subject to additional processing fees. - Reservation Deposit A partial payment of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) is required at the time of booking to secure the reservation, otherwise the dates are available. This non-refundable payment will be credited towards the total rental fee. - Security Deposit & Balance The remaining balance of the rental fee, in addition to a Security Deposit of $700.00 is due no later than 14 days prior to the scheduled arrival date. The security deposit is refundable within 72 hours of check-out, provided there has been no damage or misuse of the property. Failure to make these payments on time may result in cancellation of the reservation. - Occupancy The prorated prices are based on up to 10 persons. An additional $100 per person, per night will incur to a maximum of 14. Any increase in the number of occupants without prior approval from the Owner will be considered a violation of this agreement and will result in termination of the rental period without refund or security deposit. - Pet Policy Pets or wildlife are prohibited unless expressly approved in writing by the owner prior to arrival. Dogs are an additional $60.00 per dog, per night to a max of 2. Failure to advise can result in immediate termination of the reservation and/or forfeit security deposit. | Fantastic getaway. Rob and Nigel were very friendly and responsive to my emails. Showed us around the cottage and maintain the pool. This place has everything you need. Lots of pans and towels for us to use. It's also so spacious could hang out in different rooms for other activities. It was a great relaxing time. And I will definitely be booking again at this cottage.

| The Hilltop Retreat is an amazing place to have a mini staycation! My family and I stayed there 3 nights and we had an amazing time. Nigel was a wonderful host and was very quick on responding to our calls and messages prior to our stay. Once we got there, he gave us a quick tour of the house and let us know everything we needed to know to ensure our stay was going to be comfortable. The cottage is very clean and had everything we needed, from extra bedsheets to towels. The pool and hot tub was an extra plus point for our family and we all enjoyed our time there. The place was an excellent place for our staycation! We can't wait to be back!

| My family and I stayed at the Hilltop Retreat for 3 nights and had an amazing time. Firstly, we would like to thank Rob for being so attentive, and quick to reply to our questions before and during our stay. When we arrived, Rob took us on a tour of the property and explained how to maintain the pool & hot tub (keeping them covered while not in use, adjusting the temperature - not difficult). The cottage is very spacious; clean and well equipped. All the beds were comfortable. Linens and plenty of towels are provided but we took our own pool/beach towels. We rented the Hilltop specifically for the indoor pool & hot tub and were not disappointed. The pool/hot tub area was well lit and we, regularly, used the pool in the evening. The large kitchen had everything that we needed (pots, pans, dishes, coffeemaker, etc.). As the weather was unusually mild for Feb/Mar, we were able to BBQ and enjoy the deck. The location is perfect for day trips; close to Rice Lake, Cobourg (nice waterfront / some good restaurants), and hiking trails which we enjoyed. Rob, thanks again for your hospitality. We look forward to returning.

| This was our family's second time staying at this rental, the first time we had a positive time, however the second visit was not. We had to meet the property manager/ owner to be shown how to turn on lights (ex. with a screwdriver) and to discuss all the other things that were not working (stove burners). When we arrived we quickly recognized that it was not clean (food on the furniture, dirty dishes, fake eyelashes in the bathroom). The property manager admitted that they/ he had been cleaning the rental themselves. The biggest disappointment was that our family rented this space for Christmas for the children to use the pool. Upon our arrival they told us, the lighting in the pool room was not working and they were going through ?renovations? meaning with it being dark around 4:30/5, we were unable to use the space. I want to be clear that the basic maintenance of this home has not been completed, the fridge handles are broken, and the furniture disintegrating, the entire roof is tarped out back. I did not say anything to the owner during our stay as it was Christmas and we were trying to make the best out of It. As soon as we left I thanked them and shared (were told when we arrived and the family was already travelling 3 hours), and offered us a free night stay if we PAID for another two nights, not sufficient compensation. We are sorry to have to write a negative review here.

Owner response: Thank you for your comments. To clarify, some of the lighting the pool area are not working, due to an electrical issue. However, assuming all available lighting was turned on, the lighting is more than ample. All stove burners are working, not sure about that one? The screwdriver comment, blatantly inaccurate. That is to manually start the Pooler boiler in the event they wanted the water warmer for their comfort. Cleanliness comments are not at all consistent with the comments of our many returning guests. What also was not mentioned was the free, 4 hour early check-in that was accommodated. Yes, renovations are being completed in the early spring. This guest was "insulted" by the offer of a free night on a future stay. Value of a night is $850 (or 10% less for returning guest). Instead, after spending the weekend, leaving, and making no comments until after leaving....the ultimatium was "we want monetary compensation or I will write a negative review"....We do not respond well to extortion. | |
