Peace in the Pines!! Boating on a lake of glass, hot summer days, warm water for swimming, amazing fishing, breathtaking sunsets, loon calls and gorgeous fall leaves to end it all perfectly. To those of you who stayed with us last season, we enjoyed welcoming you! Many are planning an amazing getaway for this season! We welcome you to book now to come stay in beautiful Combermere / Barry's Bay cottage country!
Perhaps you're planning a family vacation, a couple's retreat, or want a quiet, peaceful place in nature to work remotely. This is the place! From clear waterways and nature walks to touristy shops with unique finds and amazing restaurants, this area offers it all. It's also only an hour from Algonquin Park, so it's perfect for a day trip. If you need to escape to a peaceful retreat or just want to enjoy a week on the water with family, this is the place. If you want serenity, privacy, peace and to have fun, this cottage is located only 2 hours west of Ottawa and a few hours north of Toronto.
The cottage sits on a 1/2 acre lot with beautiful views of Negeek Lake and the Madawaska River. At this west facing 3 bedroom rustic cottage, you will see sunsets that take your breath away. The 850 square feet of open concept in the cottage allows plenty of room. But wait! There is an additional airy 250 square foot screened in deck overlooking the fire pit and waterfront that you will not want to ever leave! It offers a peaceful retreat from pesky bugs or an escape on a rainy day, because this large sheltered area is a great space whether you want to read a book or play a game of cards. The huge amount of seating allows you to see the water, sunsets and nature from numerous views.
You can also sit on the patio while barbequing and overlooking the water, or sit at the beach area and get some sun. Swim, paddle, play and then go sit by a crackling fire, roast some marshmallows or simply listen to the loons. Combermere is their haven. The back side of the cottage offers a large flat grassy area, so set up a net for volleyball or badminton, or just let the kids play. At night they can chase fireflies and listen to the owls hooting in the woods. This area is away from the water and visible from the cottage, so they can play safely. Whatever you choose to do, make yourself at home in this spacious cottage.
Want to get out on the river? A 14 foot aluminum boat is at your disposal, along with a kayak, paddle boat or paddle board to rent, if available. Maybe you'll go over to one of the 2 nearby islands and have a picnic, or perhaps you'd like to catch some fish for a meal. This location gives you access to over 90 km of waterways with great fishing and boating. Also, the 100 feet of natural shoreline has a sandy bottom with a gradual slope, so you have peace of mind when the kids are in the water. Feel free to bring your own watercraft. Our 30+ foot dock is at your disposal, and a boat launch is only 5 minutes away. In addition, boat, motor and canoe rentals are available just across the lake.
Want to get out for a game of golf or an evening of music & Karaoke at one of the local pubs? We have a very reliable, mature, kind and kid loving babysitter who would love to entertain your children. Let us know ahead of time, and we can check her availability!
When summer is over, the area takes on a whole new look and feel, and some would say it is the most beautiful of all. For those of you who know you'll be able to take some long awaited vacation time next fall, this is the place. There is no better location to see the beauty of nature and the fall colours than here.
We ask that you please bring your own towels, cloths and linens, as well as drinking water.
Everything you need for a fun filled holiday awaits at The Pines. We hope to see you!

| We had a fantastic stay at Kim's cottage! The place was not only beautifully located, offering peaceful surroundings and stunning lake views, but it was also equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. We especially loved using the pedal boat to explore the lake?such a unique and enjoyable experience. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, making it feel like a home away from home.
Kim was incredibly responsive and accommodating throughout our stay, even going above and beyond to resolve a minor power issue we had shortly after arrival. Her communication was prompt and helpful, and it was clear that she genuinely cared about ensuring we had a great time. We truly appreciated the warm hospitality and look forward to returning in the spring! Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a peaceful escape in nature.

| We really love this place. The smell of the pines on a warm sunny day, the sound of the breeze whispering through the pine boughs, the sound of the waves lapping on the shore... Watching the sun as it lowers toward the horizon and glistens across the water painting a canvas of beautiful sunsets. Hmmnnn, sooo relaxing. The cottage is sitting close to the shore under a stand of pine trees. The water is clear and clean with no weeds in the immediate swimming area. At the shore you step off the dock into water that's about 1 foot deep, nice and shallow for water play for the young ones. The aluminum boat that's available with the rental can be used to fish for bass, pickerel or pike, bass being most likely. The cottage itself is comfortable and clean with an open concept living room, dining room and kitchen with a vaulted ceiling. The kitchen is well equipped with lots of small appliances and gadgets. Outside is a good gas BBQ. It has 3 bedrooms with some intriguing historic architectural features. The screen room is a wonderful bonus that allows you to sit comfortably to watch the sunset, when the mosquitos come out in the evening, or on a rainy day. While we stayed there, the mosquitoes were very few. The firepit was surrounded by 4 Muskoka style chairs. Our hosts, Kim and Neil are wonderful people who were very helpful, kind, responsive and informative. They provided us with all the information we could possibly need about the cottage, and surrounding area.

| This cottage is definately a paradise. Peaceful screened in porch to watch the lake , the birds and the chipmunks or nightly by the fire pit.
Kim and Neil could not have been more accomodating and friendly.
If you are looking for peace and quiet with a small town with restaurants and a general store 5 min away you have found your place.
Check it out. You definately wont be disappointed.

| We initially inquired about Kim's other cottage but they were repairing it and they offered us this cottage instead at the lower price of the smaller cottage (how awesome was that!?) Kim answered all our questions and she was super friendly and caring. The cottage and the property itself was wonderful! The area to get into the water was sandy and weed free so it was perfect. The screen porch area was amazing! We spent our time in there at night and it was incredibly relaxing and beautiful. The cottage itself was very clean and spacious although we found the bed small (we have a king size at home) so we decided to use the pull out couch on the third night and slept much better. We stayed mid August and we were blessed with no bugs and nice weather. The fire pit was nice and the chairs provided were very comfortable! There is also a big BBQ to cook on that my husband thoroughly enjoyed!
We would definitely recommend this cottage!

| Our family of five had a great stay at this cottage this summer. The cottage is spacious and the screened porch is absolutely lovely, with spectacular views of the sunset. The kids had a wonderful time paddling around on the water, the swimming was good by the dock (shallow and not reedy), and they had so much fun fishing. It was also handy having a few places closeby to pick up last minute supplies, like marshmallows for the campfire. We hope to come back again!
