| Our first visit to the Orange Fox retreat was wonderful and won't be our last! The cottage was very spacious - lots of room for all eight of us. The AC was appreciated on the warmer days and nights. Great views from all windows. Washrooms were updated and spacious. Pet friendly. With large lots and foliage, we appreciated the sense of privacy and separation from other cottages which we could not even see. The host family was very responsive when addressing a small glitch and promptly running a DVD player up to the cottage. Needless to say, we'll be going back soon!

| The house itself is great for large groups as there is a ton of space. As others have noted, the beds are like sleeping on concrete. The dock is quite small and only gets morning sun, but the Lily Pad is a nice touch. Note that linens and blankets are not included, and there was limited toilet paper provided so be sure to bring your own if you book. Several rooms do not have curtains despite looking out onto common firepit areas. The BBQ did not get hot (propane tank was full) so we had to pivot on several meals.
The hosts are out of touch on what reasonable expectations for guests are. We followed the lengthy instructions very well, even washing all their tablecloths, cleaning the inside of the fridge, and sweeping up after ourselves, which was not required. They threatened that we had created stains when we had been careful not to, and could not produce photos of this. Despite happily paying a cleaning fee, the hosts also kept a garbage fee, when we had done our best to sort our trash. Because the municipality has such strict instructions, it would be better to include this in the cleaning fee rather than scamming well-intentioned guests out of money after their visits.

Owner response: Thank you Jessica. Sorry to hear that you found the BBQ did not get hot. We do check it pre and post guests, so surprised you found it not working as we did not find any issues. We would have been happy to have helped you out if you had let us know you were having trouble. We did speak about the toilet paper and communicated where you would be able to find more; but you had indicated you group had brought your own. We didn't send you pictures of the stains on the doors because we did not charge you for that - as you had paid for cleaning. However, we did send you pictures of the garbage that was unsorted. The contract clearly states that the not sorting garbage results in extra charges; we have signs posted as well and instructions were sent in the welcome package. As stated in the email to you; while you personally may have been careful about sorting; often when there are big groups; its difficult to monitor what everyone else is doing. Unfortunately, when our cleaners have to go thru garbage; its not a pleasant job and we do have to compensate them for it. Hope you and your group had great time at the lake! | |

| Stayed at this cottage with our family for the last week of July and had a fantastic stay. Saw some rumblings from other reviews about the trek down to the lake but it was well worth it as the lake was great. Grandkids had a fantastic time on the Lily Pad while the adults enjoyed the floating dock. The accommodations were ideal and due to busy days everyone slept well. Would recommend this property to friends and family any time. Great property ,well maintained.

| Beautiful setting surrounded by nature. Lots of room to spread out inside. Two of us were there for a Zoom Yoga Retreat. We were able to set up on the lower level & be completely undisturbed in an area with 2 walls of windows looking out to the property...very zen. It was so warm one day we even did Yoga on the back deck overlooking the lake. Others in our party went hiking & cycling on local trails, etc. The area is rich in natural resources & opportunities.

| Great stay for pets to play! And their families of course! We had a wonderful time watching the most incredible sunrise, late evenings by the bonfire, hikes with the pooches and family dinners. There was no need to even venture out as we stayed occupied all of the nights. I would definitely recommend this cottage to large families with petSSS - as it can definitely accommodate more then one :)
