Welcome to Wishbone Retreat! If you have stayed in a luxurious log home you will already know that there is a feeling that overtakes you. It is indescribable. The walls provide an energy that penetrates your soul. If you have never experienced it, you deserve to treat yourself to a stay here to experience it. It is a feeling that you will not forget. Check out our amazing reviews from so many of our recent guests! This is a "One-of-a-kind" 6-Bedroom Custom-built luxury Log home, just a 3-hour drive from Toronto or London and two and a half hours from KW area. This unique lakefront home comes fully-stocked with all the updated amenities. Experience an amazing place for large family gatherings or a getaway with close friends, all with plenty of space to share. It is even possible to plan a corporate or team-building event in a location that everyone can connect with. The spacious country kitchen is equipped with an assortment of necessary appliances, like a Keurig coffee maker, as well as a drip coffee maker, fridge, stove-top, built-in oven, dishwasher, triple sink, and trash compactor. All of the appliances and dishes that you will ever need. There is also a spare freezer and fridge located inside the utility room alongside the central vac. The Great room features a cathedral ceiling with ambient lighting, an open view to the kitchen, a 12-foot stone fireplace with functional wood-burning stove, large dining table with seating for 10 and a comfortable sitting area, as well as a walkout to the lakefront multi-level deck with plenty of deck furniture. A propane BBQ is ready to handle all of your of hungry cottagers. Two big-screen televisions, equipped with streaming capability are ready to entertain you on those rainy days or easy-evenings. The Principal bedroom, or "Bear Cave", features a King-sized bed, walk-in closet, and master bath with dual sinks and walk-in shower. Enjoy a glass of wine in the adjacent indoor hot tub/spa room and walkout to an enclosed sunroom or outer deck. Play a game of Ping-Pong or Air-hockey in the sunroom.
A large loft overlooks the Great room with a clear view through the floor to ceiling windows out to the lake. This is a great place to lounge, or have a mid-afternoon nap.
The cottage can actually comfortably sleep 16, however local bylaws only allow us to advertise/accommodate 2 people per bedroom. Each bedroom is truly unique with mind-boggling architecture and incredible views. Four upper level bedrooms are large with comfortable King or Queen beds. Our favourite is the "Owl's nest" room with a king-sized bed and a private upper level balcony overlooking the lake. One bedroom, the "Fox Burrow" has a private upper level entrance/exit for those family members who want more privacy, or a quick escape. A main-floor bedroom, the "Beaver Lodge" boasts a Queen sized "sleigh" bed as well as crate-style bunk beds with a twin on top and double underneath. Great for a family with young children. The other spacious bedrooms include the "Otter Pond" and the "Buck Holt".
Sit or swim on your private shore and watch the beautiful sunset, or take a short paddle in one of the included canoes, peddle-boat, or kayak around Parker Island, to Old Woman Island, or down the lazy Old Woman river. Try your skill on on the included "Stand-up paddle board". You can also take a short paddle, or walk around the bay to the public Sandy beach at Black Creek Prov. Park and go for a swim, hike, or a picnic, or just lay in the sand and watch the sunset over the lake.
Maybe you will be so lucky to see an early-morning deer or fox stroll by the home to the water's edge for a drink, or perhaps the family of otters swim along the shore.
Share your dreams with friends and family at the outdoor campfire at the water's edge, or by the cozy wood stove/stone mantle in the great room.
Just an 8-minute drive across the peninsula to Lion's Head for shopping, groceries, LCBO, hardware, restaurants, pubs, local hospital, Chiropractor, Yoga studio, Massage therapy, and the famous Lion's Head marina and lighthouse. Enjoy the Saturday morning farmer's market between May and October.
Neely installed for 2023 are back-up generators to overcome those unexpected power failures.
For the hikers and nature enthusiasts, take the breathtaking Lion's Head loop lookout trail, part of the Bruce trail along the Niagara escarpment. Stand on the edge of the spine-tingling cliff overlooking the turquoise waters of Georgian Bay. Explore hundreds of km of passive or rugged nature trails all within a 15 minute drive.
Take a 25-minute drive north to the nautical town of Tobermory, where you can catch the ferry to Manitoulin Island, take a glass bottom boat tour to see the many shipwrecks, or a peaceful trip to the unique Flower Pot Island or to the Grotto. If scuba diving is your passion, there is no better place to explore.
Famous groundhog, "Wiarton Willie" would love to see you, and his shadow, in the pretty town of Wiarton on beautiful Colpoy's Bay. Just a 30-minute drive south, Wiarton is popular for its many festivals and some unique gift shops and antiques. Book a boat tour, or fishing excursion at the local Wiarton marina.
Avid fisherman will be more than pleased to know there is a local boat launch around the corner from the Log Home, with access to some of the best fishing on Lake Huron. GOLFERS! The renowned "Cobble Beach" Golf Club is a 40-minute drive.
If you are into mountain biking, your adrenaline will be charged up at the Bruce Peninsula MTB park or Lindsay tract trails, both within 15-20 minutes. There are also many miles of rugged ATV trails accessible right from the property.
Winter lovers...we are right next to the OFSC snowmobile trails! You also have access to cross country skiing and snowshoeing across the frozen bay and trails through Black Creek Provincial Park.
Your hosts, Colin and Kim, hope that you have an amazing and memorable experience at "Wishbone Retreat...the best kept secret in Northern Ontario". | Our family group of 16 people enjoyed every minute of our stay at Wishbone Retreat. The waterfront swimming was fantastic, with a sandy bottom just a few steps in from the rock. The kids all loved warming up in the hot tub if they were cool after a swim. We appreciated having water crafts available for our use and had a blast exploring a nearby island. The kitchen was well stocked, and with such a large living room/ dining room area we didn't feel cramped even with a large group. The beds were all comfortable and the cottage was kept in great shape. The fire pit looking out at the water with a perfect view of the sunset was a highlight. And best of all, Colin and Kim were incredible hosts. We're grateful for these new friends! We can't wait to come back!

| We rented the retreat to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary with our family. The cottage was amazing, exceeded our expectations. The weather was perfect. The kids and adult kids swam everyday. The host was very responsive to our needs. We even had a tube ride on the lake with Colin. Thank you Colin. Loved every minute of our stay.
