Enjoy Sunsets with your family on Buckhorn Lake as the Eagles and Osprey dive for their dinner! Eaglewings Cottage normally rents for 7 day minimum, Sunday to Sunday. We are Pet Friendly. Medium sized, well behaved Dogs are $200 per dog. Please inquire for for high season availability for 2025 $8650, plus tax and cleaning. High season is June 29th to August 30th, 2025. Inquire for mid season fall rates.
EAGLEWINGS COTTAGE IS DESIGNED BY COUNTRY HOME SPECIALISTS " THE IDEAL ENVIRONMENT" ARCHITECTS. It is located on BUCKHORN LAKE, in the Kawarthas region, near Balsam & Stoney Lake and 20 minutes from Lakefield Ontario.
It is located on the lake, not at the top of the cliff, like other cottages in our area.
YOU ARE LOOKED AFTER BY THE OWNERS!! NOT AN AGENCY, IN CASE OF CHALLENGES OR DIFFICULTIES DURING YOUR STAY.
The cottage comfortably sleeps 16 people. The Maximum is 10 adults & 6 Children. There are five bedrooms with King sized beds, and additional King sized day beds in the upper screened porch as well as the family room, for a total of 7 king sized beds. One of the bedrooms is a private loft, which is available only to adults over 18 years old, due to the ship's ladder access stairs. There is a bunk room with a twin double bunk and a full sized double bunk bed. We prefer a maximum of 16 guests. There are 2 full baths and 2 large powder rooms.
This is a vacation rental by owner operated cottage. Treat this cottage as your own cozy and private, and fresh air B&B, making your own delicious breakfast to enjoy in a screened porch, outside on the deck, or at a large dining table. Join the gang cooking up a storm in the large kitchen preparing family or team dinners, in this spacious and peaceful cottage. This is a fresh air experience, all the windows can open, but we have air conditioning for hot days. Although Eaglewings Cottage is not officially barrier free, guests can be wheeled in on a ramp through the front and lower door, and a pathway can be used to accompany and guide wheelchairs & walkers towards the dock to avoid most of the stairs. This NEW, just completed Architects home has every convenience and is a hybrid of modern and rustic design. There is a outdoor hot tub that seats 4 people, with a view of the stars and the sunsets over the lake.
Summer warm water swimming can be as early as June 15th, off the dock. The water is approximately 7 ft deep off the end of the long dock, and 3.5 ft deep at the dock ladder. There is no sandy beach but we have a small splash pool that can be filled with water and placed on the dock for supervised play with small children. There is no grassed play area due to the presence of ticks in southern Ontario. There are 2 kayaks and 2 stand up paddle boards available, with life-jackets. Enjoy watching the parade of yachts and boats from the Dining Room, as they come and go through the Lovesick Locks 1 km away, or bring your own boat from Canada or the USA by sailing up the Trent - Severn Waterway system from the Great Lakes, through the locks to Buckhorn Lake. Due to concern for our neighbours, and nearby nesting birds, Seadoos, (personal watercraft) are not permitted at Eaglewings. Bring your own boat, there is launching available at Springrock campground nearby, and you can store your
boat trailer on the upper part of our property. We request boating activities such as tubing etc., happen to the west of the cottage, away from local neighbours. The fishing is excellent at our end of the lake, and off the dock.
The large modern open kitchen has room for many cooks. It is well stocked with many appliances and spices. The dining table has an add-on table stored in the kayak storage room, to create seating places for 16. There is a large living room that can easily seat 16, however if more chairs are needed, just borrow chairs from the screened porch or deck. The living room is well designed for meetings, presentations, and fun family gatherings.
The screened porch has lots of space for lounging by the wood stove, and dining for 6 people (great for kids ) at the large round table, plus an additional pull out King Bed.
This Cottage is an easy 1.5 to 2 hour drive from Toronto, and is close to the Foodland grocery store in Lakefield, for 24 hour shopping. Cottage Toys in Lakefield has wonderful accessories for waterfront fun. Peel Marine has rental boats available.
Enjoy the year round glorious sunsets and sunrises, birds, fish and wildlife at this Cottage! We have neighbours close by and quiet time on the lake must be respected from 10:30 pm to 8 am. For this reason, outside amplified music playing is not permitted at any time, on the decks, dock or hot tub to keep a peaceful cottage time for the neighbours.
We request that you extinguish the firepit with water, by midnight, before heading indoors for the night.
