THE PORTAGE CHALET--Sleeps up to 10 (12 including a queen pull out sofa in the Muskoka room) In 5 bedrooms, with 2.5 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, 2 living/ dining rooms, Muskoka Room/office, Mud room, laundry room and an upper-level open deck, and a lower-level screened-in porch, and a laundry room.
It is on over 1 private acre of land and there is a small walk-in waterfront.
The chalet has two floors--each has a separate entrance and (no internal staircase ) and we rent out both floors to single groups.
THE UPPER CHALET-1000 square feet
-One small bedroom with a queen bed and ensuite 1/2 bath
-One small bedroom with 2 twin beds
-One small bedroom with a twin bed and a twin loft bed (suitable for ages 6 to 12)
-A Muskoka room with a pull-out queen sofa (note--these are not as comfortable)
-A 3-piece bath with shower only and 1/2 bath off of the queen bedroom.
-A galley kitchen
-An open living/dining room with a Satellite Smart TV/DVD Player, mini-split "central" air conditioner/heater
-A mudroom
-An upper outdoor deck looking out over the lake
THE LOWER CHALET - 1000 square feet
-One large bedroom with a queen bed
-A second bedroom with a queen bed.
-A kitchen
-A living/dining area with Satellite TV/DVD Player, mini-split heater/air conditioner
-Full bathroom with whirlpool bathtub/shower
-A laundry room
-Screened-in porch with picnic table.
-CHALET PROPERTY
Satellite TV service, 2 smart TVs, wireless cable high-speed Internet, and air conditioning.
Over 1 private acre with an open area for games and a fire pit.
A private small grassy walk-in beach 1 minute down the driveway and across a dead-end dirt road.
A few canoes, kayaks, a paddleboat and 15-foot lily pad.
COME TO THE PORTAGE CHALET and
DURING THE DAY
-Hang out at the walk-in waterfront
-Swim, canoe, kayak, or just sit, read and breathe in the spectacular Muskoka air.
-Get the gang together and play lawn games, volleyball, or even baseball, soccer or frisbee in our large open field. (Bring your own games and toys)
-Take the 1-minute walk down the drive to the waterfront, stroll down our pretty tree-lined dead-end country road, or hike up Wolf Mountain.
-Relax on our deck that looks down over the lake--Perfect for picnics or a BBQ
-25 minutes to the west gate of world-famous Algonquin Park where there are spectacular hikes and sights.
-Or take a 15-minute trip into town (Huntsville or Dwight) for ice cream, shopping, to see the sites, or go to the theater.
-Just a short distance to several golf courses and hiking, horse-back riding, zip-lining, river canoeing, steamship rides and much more.
AT NIGHT
-Roast marshmallows around the campfire (we provide the wood, you find the kindling or bring newspaper) and
-Star Gaze on a clear night you will see a sky filled with MILLIONS of stars.
-Or catch that important game or watch a movie in one of the two living rooms with Satellite service, smart TVs and a good old-fashioned DVD player (bring your own DVDs!)
LINENS: We provide pillows, blankets, and laundered pillow protectors, mattress covers and bathmats. You bring your own sheets and towels. We may be able to provide that service for an additional fee.
OUTSIDE: UPPER DECK AND LOWER SCREENED IN PORCH: We provide picnic tables, the BBQ and 1 tank of propane.
FIRE-PIT: A fire-pit and supply of firewood. You bring the newspaper and collect the kindling!
LAWNS: We have an open lawn perfect for games of every sort. It is large enough for frisbee, soccer or baseball.
AT THE LAKE: The lake is a 1-minute walk down the driveway and across a dead-end dirt road where there is a small walk-in grassy waterfront off to the right. The lake is great for swimming, fishing and boating. We provide some canoes, kayaks a pedal boat and 15 foot lily pad, for your use.
PARKING: Enough parking for 3 vehicles.
