'One Fish Whisper'; named by our daughter, we feel it speaks of the quiet of the lake. The joy of fishing. And the peaceful reflection that happens when one is at the cottage. Share in the love of our family's 3 bedroom cottage rental between Haliburton and Bancroft, near Wilberforce. Enjoy 100 ft. of sandy shoreline and the privacy of beautiful Jordan Lake! The lake is quiet and you will feel like you are the only ones there, as you listen to the loons call and look out towards the majestic rock face. We offer rental dates between May and November. For May, June, September and October, we are happy to host you for a minimum 2-night stay. In July and August, we offer week-long rentals from Sunday-Sunday. We pride ourselves on thinking of everything you may need. You just need to bring food, water for the cooler and clothes and we take care of the rest! Jordan Lake is a beautiful, quiet lake with only a few cottages on it. The gradual slope of the cottage property allows for a gentle walk down to the water, complete with solar lights to guide you at night. The shoreline is sandy and has a shallow entry for small children to play, or for you to just set up a chair and soak your feet. The dock at the shore is spacious enough to lounge on and we also provide a floating dock just out from the shoreline for those more adventurous in your group that might want to jump into the water. Outdoor Amenities: Included in your stay is access to a canoe, 2 sit-on-top youth kayaks, 2 sit-on-top adult kayaks, 2 stand-up paddleboards, and a pedal boat!
There is a large fire pit, complete with kindling and dry firewood, where you can sit and enjoy the lake's night sounds. Sit and roast marshmallows or watch a movie on the huge 10 ft. outdoor movie screen, complete with a projector and bluetooth speaker--who doesn't like to watch movies under the stars!
Enjoy the sauna right outside the cottage door to melt your worries away and use the aromatherapy oils to make it an even more luxurious experience. Or take a soak in the private 7-person hot tub while you look out over the calm, peaceful lake and gorgeous cliff face, where you can imagine you are the only ones on the lake!
There is a large deck on the front of the cottage with beautiful views of the lake. There is a BBQ provided, including propane where you can cook your meal and then eat outside under the screened gazebo. Or sit on the lounge set with the propane fireplace and listen to the sounds of the wildlife as the sun goes down.
The lake boasts great boating and fishing, offering Bass, Brook Trout and Rainbow Trout.
The cottage property has parking for 3 vehicles and we conveniently provide a charging port (NEMA 14-50, 250V 32 Amp) for electric vehicles.
Cute and Charming Inside:
Walk into the well-equipped kitchen, complete with stainless appliances. The kitchen offers everything you will need, including a Keurig coffee pot and tea station to get you started in the morning. The family/dining area has a warm and cozy electric fireplace and TV for watching movies or TV shows using the provided Netflix/Amazon Prime/CraveTV/AppleTV/DisneyPlus subscriptions, a wide variety of movies, or the HDMI-HDMI-C cable to connect to your iPad, tablet or computer. We also offer a wide variety of board games and books for all ages.
There are 3 small and comfortable bedrooms complete with luxurious linens. The main bedroom has a queen-size bed, the middle room has single bunks and the far room has a double bed. All the bedrooms have dressers and/or wardrobes so you can keep your space neat and tidy. The rooms have ceiling or table fans, and there is a portable air conditioner for those warmer nights. And if the nights are cooler, snuggle up under the cozy comforters and blankets or turn on the electric baseboard heaters. We also provide blankets for use outside around the fire pit or for those cooler evenings.
The bathroom is beautifully decorated, is quite spacious and has a lovely corner shower. The soft, fluffy towels and complimentary green tea scented bathroom amenities will make you feel pampered in your home away from home.
A Great Location:
The cottage is only about 2-2.5 hours from Toronto, just over an hour from Peterborough, 40 minutes to Haliburton and only 25 minutes to Bancroft. Bancroft provides shopping, including a 24-hour grocery store, LCBO, Canadian Tire, brewery and many quaint stores and museums, as well as a golf course. Haliburton is also a lovely town to explore, with many shops, walking trails and a brewery just outside the town.
Silent Lake Provincial Park is only 20 minutes away, and we provide a park day-pass with your rental, where you can explore over 19 km of hiking trails and 17 km of mountain biking trails, along with 2 sandy beaches. Algonquin Park's East Gate is only an hour from the cottage, and the day pass allows you to spend the day exploring this magnificent park while hiking one of 14 interpretive trails, taking part in the extensive educational Discovery Program, and visiting Algonquin's exceptional Visitor Centre, Logging Museum, and Art Centre.
The road into the cottage is very well maintained and easy to access, although is quite hilly, so we ask that you drive with caution.
Dog Friendly:
We know that pets are part of the family! We have a small dog ourselves, and wouldn't dream of leaving her behind. There is a small surcharge for dogs, but they are welcome! We just ask that you keep them off the furniture (or lay down a blanket first) as our family has allergies and so we like to keep fur and dander off surfaces as much as possible; please also ensure they do not track mud or dirt into the cottage. Unfortunately we can not accept cats as we have severe allergies to cats.

| What a wonderful cottage! The property is beautiful, and the lake is perfect! Our family had such a fun and relaxing week together. If you're looking for privacy and a quiet lakeside retreat - this is it. We went swimming everyday from the cottage's private dock, or sandy shallow entry for the kids, and would swim out to the cottage's floating dock to jump in the lake! The kids had so much fun on the huge floating water mat to play on, and we loved taking out the canoe or kayaks everyday, there were lots of water activities to choose from. The slope from the cottage down to the water was gentle and the gravel path easily traversed by both toddlers and grandparents. There is a hot tub to enjoy with its own gazebo and netting, with a view of the lake! The cottage deck has a gazebo and netting over an outdoor table for meals enjoyed outside, as well as an outdoor couch set to relax on. Inside the cottage there is everything you might need, from all the little things in the kitchen, to added touches in the bathroom. The cottage owner, Larissa, was so lovely and available anytime if we had questions. Our stay at One Fish Whisper was truly amazing and we can't wait to get away again!!
