A little bit of heaven! Sparkling water, gorgeous views, perennial gardens full of colour, a campfire by the lake, and a great location just minutes from waterside restaurants and summer activities.
Step inside and find a welcoming home. An eclectic mix of old beams, blonde pine ceilings, comfortable seating and lake-life accents draw you in with a warmth and ambiance that's hard to beat.
The living room is the heart of this Kawartha cottage rental, with a wood burning stove for fall and winter stays (not for use in summer), and sliding doors onto the large deck. The bedrooms are all cosily furnished, and should guarantee a great night's sleep after a long day of sunning, paddling and relaxing.
The kitchen has everything you'll need to cater for the group and there's the choice of eating in, or outside under the gazebo canopy.
On the water, there's a pedalboat and a couple of kayaks to get out and explore the lake, and a new 22' dock. The cottage is located in an inlet and has weed growth at the shoreline. While it's possible to wade into clearer water, you may prefer a short paddle out to swim from a nearby Crown island. Visit the waterfront with Heather in this short video
We feel the tranquility of the location, together with the ambiance of the cottage outweighs any minor inconvenience presented by the waterfront.
Out and about you'll find the delightful waterside town of Buckhorn a short drive away with grocery stores, restaurants and bakeries, and good boat watching as they travel through the locks on the Trent Severn waterway. In the other direction, Burleigh Falls has great places to eat as well.
There are provincial parks, public beaches, walking trails and other great things to see and do listed in the digital guest guide we'll send you when you book.

WATERFRONT
The water in the inlet has weed growth under the surface, however, a little further out into the main part of the lake the water clears and is great for swimming. Water is approximately 4' deep off the dock. Take the paddleboat or kayaks out to find clear open water near the Crown island just a few minutes paddle away. The swim platform belongs to another cottage and is not available for use by Between The Locks guests.
TRIVIA
The cottage is located between Trent Severn Waterway Locks 30 (Lovesick) and 31 (Buckhorn). Lock 30 is located on an island, and therefore only accessible by boat - a unique feature on the Waterway. The natural beauty of the setting and island seclusion make this lock station an extremely popular overnight stop for boaters. Lock 31 is just a short walk from/to the small town of Buckhorn. With 2 restaurants and an ice cream parlor overlooking the lock, it's a great spot to sit and watch the boats go by.
