Our four bedroom Viceroy style cottage is nestled amongst the trees on three acres of land with over two hundred feet of direct access, privately owned waterfront on Bass Lake. Feeling nostalgic? Ready to venture outside? Winter adventurers can enjoy nearby snowmobile trails, a hike in the one-of-a-kind art-meets-nature hiking experience; the Tree Museum (10 minute drive away), and nearby skating.
Nearby Gravenhurst hosts the revitalized Muskoka Wharf where you'll find Canadian artists handcrafted goods at the Shipyards, enjoy High Tea at Blue Willow Tea Shoppe, or enjoy dinner at family friendly Boston Pizza (say hi to server Melanie for us!) or a more grown up night out at the Dock of the Bay Steak & Seafood Grille. Venture further into town for other fabulous shopping and dining experiences, as well as easy access to groceries, essentials (including the LCBO) and last minute needs.
Barkway Lodge operates four seasons a year, offering gorgeous colours in the late summer and fall, and snowy tranquil getaways in the winter as well as summer fun.

| Having rented cottages all over Ontario for the past 25 years, this may be our favourite. The cottage is spacious and clean with a very well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and the provided sheets and towels were very good quality. We made great use of the gazebo for quiet reading and playing cards. The extra tv room was a nice surprise. The ceiling fans in every bedroom and extra floor fans meant even the hot nights were comfortable for sleeping. It was also nice not having to bring jugs of drinking water as the tap water is potable.
The lake is outstanding for kayaking and paddleboards. There are many stunning connecting rivers to explore as well as a river leading to a much larger lake. The larger lake attracts the sea-dos and faster boats leaving this lake nice and quiet. The public beach just a minute away would be great for smaller kids needing more sand to dig in and a roped off swim area.
5 minutes up the road is a long and challenging hiking trail with great views of many of the surrounding lakes and marshlands.

We rarely stay in the same place twice, but with the quality of the cottage and so much more to explore we are already looking at dates for next year.

| We loved this cottage! I stayed here with my family including 2 teenagers and it was perfect! Beautiful, quiet lake. The dock was great for morning coffees and for the kids to catch sunfish from. Also unexpected but a great bonus is a very small public park 2 cottages over (a 3-4 min walk) and this park has a large shallow sandy beach, shady grassy picnic area, and roped in swimming area for the littles! The cottage itself is large, clean and comfortable. Lots of fans everywhere for comfort. The teenagers appreciated the WIFI and the 'gaming' room with its own TV and couch. The kitchen has everything you need. Beds are comfortable. 2 full bathrooms were appreciated! Loisann was a delight to deal with, she was quick to respond to all my questions. We hope to be back next year!
