A Mesmerizing Retreat, Escape, or Paradise however defined, the "Point IS ZEN" ABOUT THE PLACE: Point ZEN is not just your traditional cottage - enter a winding forest lane among tall pines and a Muskoka landscape of granite at the back to a gorgeous manicured green playground in front - your very own lakeside retreat, a peaceful getaway and so much more. A perfect place to relax on the beautiful grounds, lakeside, or inside with your feet up with a glass of wine, reading or working on a puzzle you've long wanted to finish. For a more active day, try a game of golf at the nearby Lake St. George or Evergreen Golf Courses, or a day boating from the Lauderdale Point Marina. We are 15 minutes from Orillia and Gravenhurst for easy access to restaurants, groceries and Muskoka's many attractions if you fancy a day out. The cottage features 4 bedrooms - 1 queen and 3 doubles. 1 full 4-piece washroom and 1 newly done 2-piece washroom. All fresh bedding linens and bath towels are included. Please bring separate beach towels.
The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes and appliances for your use. Cooking oil, some spices and essential fridge condiments are provided. Coffee, tea and jugs of drinking water are all included (tap water is not drinkable).
There are board games, books, and wifi for entertainment on a 55" Smart TV for rainy days.
Highspeed Wi-Fi if you need to work from the cottage. (It is satellite service so a back up hotspot for big rain days "might" be needed).
Our gorgeous beach area where you can walk out 25+ feet with a lovely shallow, sandy bottom is perfect for children and seniors! There is also a cute little step-in-stone dip spot with a clear sandy bottom. Sparrow Lake's Welsh Bay is quite large but protected and great to get out on your canoe, kayak or paddleboard. Also great for those who love to fish as a tournament fishing lake with some reeds/aquatic plants in spots that the fish love. For deeper water swimming you can easily take boats beyond the bay.
Email us with any specific property questions!
HIGHLIGHTS: - Highspeed Wifi included - BBQ on patio - Big Lakeside firepit - Free Firewood included - Jugs with drinkable water (tap water is NOT recommended) - 4 Kayaks, 2 Canoes, 1 paddle board, 1 pedal boat, 1 rowboat - Quiet time is 10:30 PM.
NOTE: We have great neighbours. This is NOT a late night party place.
PLEASE NOTE:
We have a strong preference for full week or 4-5 night bookings in summer but realize that does not work for everyone. We try to be flexible and will consider shorter bookings with short-notice (within 1.5-2 weeks) based on balancing setup and cleaning services. Pricing will be adjusted accordingly.
The cottage is not centrally heated or air conditioned. We provide plug in heaters for Fall evenings which may be cooler, and they keep the place very cosy. For summer there are fans in all rooms and a great cross breeze when windows are opened.
This is a natural lake and forest area so insects, weeds and wildlife are present. Guests are requested to take care and prepare accordingly- bring bug spray, water shoes if you prefer, be mindful of keeping screens closed to reduce insects getting in, do not leave food or garbage outside etc.
ABSOLUTELY NO PETS due to family allergies. Guests are not allowed to exceed the occupancy limit agreed to (and a maximum of 8)
Please leave our piece of paradise clean upon checkout in order for all guests to enjoy the cottage and property to its fullest. Any damages outside general wear and tear, or cleaning requirements due to food stains, floor scrapes and similar damage may result in partial or full forfeit of deposit and further costs.
Please do not move any furniture. Do wash and put away all dishes, with floors left in broom-swept condition. ALL GARBAGE must be taken out by you when you leave. We DON'T want your deposit and we DO want you back. Enjoy!

FUN HISTORY / STORIES OF SPARROW LAKE:
Sparrow Lake is the most southerly lake in the popular Muskoka tourist region. It was named after a William Sparrow, an Englishman, who fished and hunted the area in the 19th century. It is also famous as being the northern setting for the Showcase TV show Paradise Falls. Various lodges around the lake were used for filming. It is also home to Sparrow Lake Camp (founded 1912), the oldest children's recreational camp operated by the United Church of Canada.
Across the bay from our cottage is historic Port Stanton, an early steamship port and home to one of Ontario's first railway lines for tourists that is still in operation. You may hear the odd train whistle from across the lake and far away, sufficiently in the distance to evoke nostalgic memories of pioneering times gone by.

| We would like to begin by thanking you for sharing your cottage with us, it is a lovely cottage and our family really enjoyed our 3 day weekend there, taking in the beauty of nature, listening to the birds honk, along with enjoying some wonderful sunsets and early morning views. It was so peaceful and quite.
Your property truly lives up to "its name" and we found sitting out in your muskoka chairs enjoying our coffee along with the geese was a really healing and meditative experience. We also enjoyed the use of the various games that you had available which were fun to play and encouraged family bonding.
We would certainly love to stay there again.

| We had a fantastic experience at Point Zen. Our kids were active and happy to have variety of activities to do: kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, fishing, reading, playing board games, lounging in a Muskoka chair or the Hammock, going for walks, enjoying the birds, the jacuzzi, the bonfire etc. The adults, we were in Zen mode!
Inside, we felt we had everything we needed, from a special coffee corner to a wonderful reading and working area with a great view. The living room is cozy, the kitchen is practical and bedrooms are comfortable and warm.
We enjoyed that we could BBQ and eat outside and bring anything to the beach. For us the time was magical enjoying the nature; we felt energized as we were able to enjoy a calm and nurturing vibe. The entire area is wonderful and the neighbours are very kind.
We plan to come again, we can imagine how beautiful the area may be in each station, plus the drive there was easy and so close to Toronto.
Yineska and Paul

| We had a fabulous time during our stay at Point Zen this past weekend! The cottage was immaculate upon arrival, and it was very well appointed in all aspects from the kitchen to the comfy beds to the kayaks. What a perfect hideaway to celebrate our anniversary! One of the best things about this cottage is its easy access to the lake - there are no stairs, and the grounds to the water are lush and beautiful. The shoreline and soft sand beach kept my toddler entertained for hours as she collected rocks, snail shells and made sand castles. The grounds are MASSIVE and have ample seating which allowed for a wonderful gathering for my family and another couple. We loved the tranquility of sitting on the dock with a morning coffee looking out at the lake. We highly recommend Point Zen and are looking forward to renting it again next summer!

| What a fantastic getaway! Comfortable, clean and a great view! This is a wonderful cottage on a peaceful lake. The owner has been very responsive and helpful. The lush green space is a bonus for a cottage. The sandy beach is ideal for the little ones. Definitely renting this cottage again for next summer.

| Point Zen truly deserves its name! It was tranquil, serene and zen with wonderful vistas of the water and lush greenery as we lounged and soaked it all in. Sunsets were simply stunning!
The wooden interiors were warm and welcoming. Rooms were clean and functional. Washing dishes was also a pleasure as you look out at the beautiful greenery!
Had good fun on the peddle boat cruising around in the calm bay waters and swimming around in the shallow water. Enjoyed the bonfire in the evenings under the moonlight, perfect for roasting marshmallows!
Just remember to bring your bug spray.
Point Zen had everything we needed to make our stay a restful getaway from the humdrum of the city. We look forward to our next visit!
