A BIG thank you for considering our lake cottage. We acknowledge that there are a variety of options available to choose from and we truly appreciate your consideration. Reach out to us early to make sure you reserve your summer week. We get fully booked every summer so please book 6 to 9 months in advance to ensure you get your desired week. Canopy Cottage Ontario is a little gem just north of Muskoka in the Almaguin Highland area of Ontario's cottage country. The landscape and quality of lakes here are simply fabulous. We know you'll love it as much as we do. We are very happy that you are considering being our guest. This is our family lake cottage as well and like you, we are attracted by the water and how peaceful being here makes us feel. All who visit are captured by the views and beautiful lake. KEY INFORMATION: -Distance from Toronto: About 3 hours. (Frankly, if you are going to drive 2 hours north of Toronto to Muskoka, then it will be worth the extra hour for what you get for your money. Flat entry to the lake, private beach, large waterfront, 2 acre land, fantastic views, clean water, calm lake, low boat traffic. Did we say the views are great!) -Bedrooms: 5 Bedrooms*- *3 bedrooms in the main cottage, and 2 outdoor Bunkies each with a sofa bed. -Waterfront: FLAT entry into lake, private beach, very safe for families so you can keep an eye on everyone -Linens & Towels: All Linens and towels included with your stay (bring your beach towels though) -Watercrafts: 1 Canoe, 2 adult Kayaks, 1 kids Kayak, 2 Paddle Boards, 1 Floating Mat -Dock:Large dock plus a floating dock to swim to and jump off -Lovely Firepit area -Surrounded by lovely forest canopy.
THE LAKE COTTAGE: If you are looking for ultra modern, city home replica with huge common rooms, that is not what we offer. We have designed a lake cottage experience for you and your friends/family focused on style, comfort and outdoor fun. Our cottage is cozy, cute, and although it has a smaller footprint in the common living area, the land is large and our lake views are simply fantastic. Oh, and let's not downplay the fact that we have a private beach and our entire beachfront has walk in entry into the water. That is a large benefit to everyone, especially those with young kids or those that have difficulty walking steps.
THE OUTSIDE: There are plenty of lake cottages available to rent. The question is, why should you stay at ours? Our property is not simply a cottage with a dock next to a lake. There are plenty of those to choose from. Our property sits on 2 acres of land with a scenic forest around it and ample land to play, enjoy, relax. And the lake views are simply, well, fantastic. This is a special place.
There are 3 main reasons our place is so popular as a destination, especially with families.
-First, we actually have a private, flat entry beach into the water. We don't have tons of stairs to deal with on a super steep landscape like many other options you may be looking at. For those with kids, you can actually see your kids everywhere on our waterfront, no chance of them or anyone falling over the edge into the water...we have no edge, we have straight water entry!
-The second reason is the fact that the lake does NOT have public boat access. Only private boat access and this is what makes it popular for owners and vacationers. It keeps the lake clean and peaceful for both vacationers and owners and reduces boat traffic and noise. If you wish to bring up your boat, no worries, simply let us know.
The 3rd reason: the lake, those views. The Lake is calm, clean, spring fed, great to swim in, kayak, canoe, paddle board or just sit on the Dock and enjoy a drink and view. There are plenty of great lakes in cottage country and ours is on that list.
The property has ample room on the outside, there are several sitting areas that will satisfy everyone. Large yard areas to play games, picnic, sit on a hammock, have get togethers and even pitch a few tents if you want. We have a fabulous Fire Pit area for those cozy nightly fires and even have a humble little tree house built for the little kids with their own deck.
If you are lucky enough to visit during the Autumn, you are in for a treat when the leaves change colours. The scene on this lake is spectacular and our favourite time of year.
As for the waterfront, sit, swim, boat, fish, tan, use the Dock, swim to our floating dock, try paddle boarding, canoeing or kayaking (we include those) or lounge on the multiple sitting areas across the beachfront. You are sure to find an outdoor place for everyone to enjoy. There are 2 adult kayaks and a childrens kayak, a canoe (of course), a water mat and 2 paddle boards for you to use with compliments. We also provide life jackets in varying sizes.
The canopy of trees that protects our property feels like nature is hugging you, protecting you from the elements. You will thank us for this when it is scorching hot or when it rains.
THE INSIDE: Although the cottage living room area is smaller in foot print, it has a cozy and welcoming feel. We've designed the cottage to have a stylish/chic, clean, comfortable style, whilst ensuring it feels like a cozy getaway for you to relax and enjoy the beautiful wonders of being at a lake front cottage. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 Bunkies next to the main cottage. Bedroom 1 inside the cottage feels ample and includes a Queen bed. Bedroom #2 inside the cottage also has a queen bed and a large walk in closet. Bedroom #3 inside the cottage has a Bunk Bed with a single on top and a Full bed on the bottom. Outside Bunkie #1: A larger Bunkie that can be used as an additional Living Room. It has a sofa, table, and TV. Great place for kids to hang out or to work or to get away from the main house. And if it rains, you will be happy to have a 2nd area for people to hang out in. The Sofa turns into a Sofa bed. It also has a cute loft to enjoy. Outside Bunkie #2: Relax here, read, exercise, do yoga, the sofa sectional turns into a Queen bed If you have small children that require a pack'n'play area, bedroom #1 and #2 can accommodate.
KITCHEN: The kitchen is fully stocked for you and your guests to enjoy. With our complements, we have included starter kit of Coffee, Tea, spices, for you to enjoy upon arrival.
HEATING/AC: -Every room has ceiling fans -living room, kitchen, back bedroom & bunkie #1 have an AC unit -both bunkies have ceiling fans and the larger bunkie has an AC unit -there are space heaters available when it gets cool -the AC in the living room helps cool that area and is not designed to cool the bedrooms. Leave doors open in the bedrooms to help circulate the cool air.
NUMBER OF GUESTS: 1, 2 or 3 guests: You will enjoy the peace and tranquility of having all 2 acres just for your small group. There is something very special about having the lake for yourself. Take a breather, sit still, look at the lake and just be. No rush.
4-6 guests: The ideal number for this cottage. Up to 6 guests will find the cottage extremely comfortable during your stay and will find the property/land and lake fantastic to share.
7 or 8 guests: Although the cottage and bunkie together can sleep 9 or so, the sitting area and living room in the cottage will feel cramped. On the outside, there is more than enough room however and with the addition of the bunkies, your group can spread out nicely.
Families with young kids/teenagers would be well suited here. Adults, couples, friends getaway will have a fabulous time here.
We are booked every summer season with several repeat guests every year. We hope to have you as our guests as well.

| There's only positives to say about the beautiful Canopy Cottage. This was our family's second year staying (our third is already booked) and we couldn't have been happier. The cottage is clean, extremely well maintained and has everything you need for a perfect cottage getaway. We love having access to the paddle boards and kayaks as we have had to pay extra for these at previous cottage rentals. The new bunkie was a hit with my 10 year old and was the perfect little spot to call his own. Ruth Lake itself is stunning, quiet and great for swimming and fishing. Amazing neighbours in the area as well. The owners are always checking in and you will feel totally taken care of here. We can't wait to make more memories here in the years to come.

| From initial contact to check out our experience with Al and Ariana was excellent. The cottage may be smallish but they have done everything right to ensure their renters experience is a great one. Their attention to detail is second to none we have come across in our over 13 years of both cottage and long term (winter) renting. Everything is as advertised and they are quick to respond to the smallest request. Ruth Lake is quiet and perfect for us, the older kayakers. We have already reserved our spot for the summer of 2025. Thank you Al and Ariana for a fantastic experience. Ken and Jeanine

| Our family of 7 really enjoyed our time at this property. The place itself was very clean, and filled with all amenities you could think of. Al & Ariana really go above and beyond to provide a comfortable and cleanly space. The interior was beautiful, as well as the exterior. The lights at night were gorgeous and lit up the whole property. The use of the kayaks, paddle boards and canoe was such a nice experience. The screened in section on the patio came in handy when needing an escape from the bugs or watching the storm pass. There were many activities to keep anyone of any age occupied- from tic tac toe stump, hammocks, darts, water activities, movies, board games etc. We had no issues using the private boat launch and the check in/check out procedure went smoothly! We have rented many cottages over the years and this one is at the top of our list. We will more than likely be making this our regular yearly getaway location. Thanks again Al & Ariana!

Owner response: Always fabulous to know guests had a lovely time. That is the purpose of us offering our property to others. We always hope they enjoy it as much as we do. We do not take it for granted that guests choose to stay at our property over others and we do our sincere best to ensure they enjoy their vacation time. Thank you so much to Brooke and her guests for choosing our place and thrilled that your time here was enjoyed. Looking forward to seeing you again. BTW, for those lucky enough to receive Brooke as guests of your own, they left the property in fabulous condition. Much appreciated. | |

| We spent a lovely week at Al and Ariana's cottage. They have truly thought of EVERYTHING! The cottage itself is tastefully decorated and very clean. My son especially liked the bunk bed. The hosts provided a guide with instructions about our stay which was greatly appreciated and responded quickly to questions and queries. They had a number of rainy day activities that came in very handy when the weather didn't cooperate as well. The canopy of trees over and around the cottage is truly magical and makes for some wonderful areas to relax and take in the beautiful lakefront setting - with many seating areas available- that even include hammocks! The boys had great success catching some nice small mouth bass off the dock and on the lake. We enjoyed the wide variety of water toys available - the Lilly Pad mat was a big hit with my 7yo. We enjoyed seeing a Blue Heron each morning visiting on the diving dock as well as ducks and loons on the lake. The only negative about this cottage is that you won't want to go home!!! We made some great memories and hope to return again next year! Highly recommend staying at the Canopy Cottage
